    • Wow.

What a crazy week it's been: Santa Barbara on Thursday, Vega$ on Friday and Saturday, and tonight's taping, and tomorrow in Anaheim... d**n maybe I'll be over this whole Morrissey fan thing by then...

      ha ha ha

Okay, on to this evening's events:

I arrived 5 minutes before they let people into the studio. Sadly, fans that had stayed overnight waiting still weren't able to get in- thank GAWD for connections!

Here is something that you won't see on T.V. the next two nights: DAVE TSENG (Morrissey-Solo.Com webmaster) won a DANCE CONTEST during the commercial break. He did NOT want to particpate but someone vollunteered him and yes the whole room went crazy and he easily got the most applause to win a Craig Kilborn T-Shirt.

Any time Morrissey's name was mentioned the theatre erupted and the comedian who "warms up" the crowd basically said to pretend like all of the jokes were like Moz was saying them and all the other guest were actually The Pope Of Mope. Well, hey, we tried to cheer for the other guests- but when the Man did arrive it was deafening...

He played "The First Of The Gang To Die" for tonight's show and also taped "Every Day Is Like Sunday" for Friday's. The accoustics were FANTASTIC and he was just a few feet away from us. We were front row center for the incredible performance...

Then Tom Green came on and did some schtick having his dogs lick the milk out of his open mouth.

Morrisey returned to do the interview with Craig- his first ever for American talk shows- and you'll see it tonight but he basically bagged on the American music Industry and exclaimed how happy he was, despite his reputation for being miserable.

The "surprise" guest was Jessica Simpson, who announced her engagemant to the singer of 98 Degrees. How anti-climactic. But she looked good.

Sorry no cameras were allowed so no pix but I'm sure you all are watching and taping the show tonight anyway!!

  • Its still 2 hours before Moz will be aired on CBS tonight, I cant wait to see it, though it would have been wonderful it I had the chance to see it live considering I was 41 in line with a valid slip. Why it happened?

A big thanks to people who cut in the lines.... Gee a bit too grade schoolish don’t ya think? I thought we learned not to cut in line because it’s not fair and unethical. How did S.A.T.H get in on the V.I.P list? How could a man who was literally pushing people in the Vegas concert had the privilege to be first in line?

Yeah, disappointed...truly disappointed, I feel for the people who also waited in line patiently since the early morning only to be rejected as well.

VRC taping in record mode tonight.

first impression: Man, he's old. Second: He's aged fairly well. Or, at least he looks comfortable with his age. The Moz hair-poof has become a comb-over, though :( And is that hair dyed? I fear it is....

Others: Cute, nervous, and soooooo "English" (without claiming to really know what that means.)

Then, just waiting for the roar as Craig introduces the song, and instead I get the song about 30 seconds in. Oh well. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Morrissey looks very good, and I love the hink of grey on the sides of his hair... The new song sounds much better tonight than when I heard it live on an MP3...GOD I am STILL pissed abbout the commercial cutting into the first 30 seconds! Oh well, I love the fact Morrissey seemed so appreciative of his fans...I hope he is as happy as he claimed in the interveiw!-Jonathon Hyde

He also joked around saying how Craig was looking for him and how he only lived down the street that he didn't have to look that far. Also Morrissey said he was happy, and that he basicaly writes about how life is and he performed The first in the gang to die.

He wore black slacks, shiny black leather(?) shoes, a light blue lace up shirt with a black cardigan. (cuffs and collar pulled out). Beautiful.

He was extremely personable and as usual a bit shy. The audience was going crazy, chanting Morrissey-Morrissey-Morrissey! You could tell he was loving every minute of it.

He mentioned his wonderful fanbase, how American record execs all need to be shot, and how shows like American Idol are destroying music and art. He also talked a bit about his house designed by Clark Gable. He said that he spends most of his time in bed channel surfing and splits his time between LA, Ireland and Sweden.

The band was in top form as Morrissey sang "The First In The Gang To Die".

Tomorrow he returns to sing "Everyday Is Like Sunday" (it was taped tonight but airs tomorrow).

  • I've only seen him on TV twice with David Letterman and on SNL.

I've heard audio interviews, but never actually ever seen him speak in an interview.

Now, we have blue robin hood in a cardigan on our TV and we're very happy.

And i couldn't get my VCR to work.

nor could i get my parent's cat loaded back up into the carrier so i could have driven him home and stolen their TV and VCR for the evening.

trust me i was expressing my frustration.

he's sleeping smugly on my floor.

we knew there had to be a punchline thrown in.

do not bother me for a copy of the show. blame it on the cat.

but i lived through the last half of letterman to see the wonderful intro they gave him in calling it "morrissey TV". Now trust me when i say that i've managed to miss every single one of those pleas for morrissey because despite the fact that its 2002 and he's not been in the late spot for nearly 10 years, there is still some part of my brain that thinks letterman should be on starting at 11:30 and not 10:30...and logically kilborn must be on at 12:30 like Bob Costas was.

    oh well, now i know.

but it was fun watching moz come out and shrink in embarassment at the screaming from the audience.

then hearing about moz complaining about American Idol because "they take teenagers who are happy to be there and don't ask for a contract" and of course, there was some gesture about record companies thrown in.

oh, what else was said? I dunno. Yes, there were little crinkles around the eyes. But is it age or expressiveness?

i scoot in closer to my tiny TV to look.

First of the Gang sounded better this way than what i've been listening to. It was much lighter than the heavy MP3 I have. Occasional glimpses of the band and Gary doing a "oops, i wasn't looking at the camera" bit.

Dean reminds me of some guy i've seen in some movies, but can't remember who off the top of my head.

anyhow, yeah, i know i have no interesting story of how i stood in line and got to be in the audience or anything, but i'm happy that i finally get to see something.

I felt that Craig could have asked questions and introduced Morrissey in a better way to spark interest in those who don't know him. I felt the Tom Greene segment was VILE and utterly forgettable. Also, Craig should have focused more on the crowds of people and devout fans better. I felt that the tuxedo sidekick routine was an insult to anyone's intelligence.

This whole thing was very disappointing! So you showed up 5 minutes before the taping and got in while my friends and I along with others who were some of the first who stood in line for FUCKING HOURS get assed out. This whole thing seemed to be a setup. I saw a lot of people who were associated or connected with Morrissey-Solo, Morrissey Tour or SATH getting into the taping. Most of who came in at the very last minute and did not even stand in line. Granted I did see some (and I stress SOME) of the above mentioned in line before me and I have no problem that they got in since they were there first.

But that's my case, it should have been first come first serve. If you showed up with your whole party, then you should have been let in to stand in line. If you showed up without your whole party, then you should have had to wait out of line until your party arrives and then you can stand in BACK of the line. I saw a lot of people in front of me letting the rest of their party get in line who came late. That's not fair. I was about 11th or 12th in line until the late people showed up when we were about to be let in. Then I was moved into the 30's! Guess who was let in, people who were 20th or under. Fuck that!

Ironically, the first fans who lined up were interviewed with questions about Morrissey and got on camera. Yet, most of them didn't even get into the taping. All you late comers who cut in line and connected people killed it. You should have stood in line! My stomach is still sickened by this.

I thought he was rather dull. Maybe it was because I'd just read the same comments from him in various other interviews, I dunno. But I don't see him winning too many new fans or a record contract after this appearance. And, well, wouldn't a master self promoter have accomplished one of those things?

      Worst bits:

      1. The Clark Gable house. I know Craig asked, but jeez...how much longer do we have to hear this old yarn?

      2. Record company executives, mtv, etc are greedy, suck, and should be shot. First of all, same old same old from him. Second of all, how does he expect to get a record contract with that attitude? And he's made it clear he will only release new songs through some major label that will push him. Why would a label sign him? Why would MTV play his stuff? Finally, in light of the 9/11 anniversary, bad taste all around to wish for record company execs to be gunned down.

      3. American Idol jokes. How original. No one's ever made fun of that before.

      4. Talking about rec company's greed. Funny talk from him - Mr. I'm gonna hold out for a major label contract.

      5. A typical Morrissey saturday. Maybe Craig should have given him the questions ahead of time. Real boring answer ("sitting in bed and watching tv") - even if there was some truth to it.

      Best bits

      1. Craig mocking that line from Suedehead. Funny stuff. I wish he'd asked more original questions like this.

      2. Morrissey saying that Craig had "smoked him out". Was that a reference to Bush's promise to "smoke out" those "faceless cowards"? :)

      3. Craig wondering if Morrissey works out at Crunch, that he looked like he did curls. Hilarious. You just know he probably lifts all the time - when he's not boozing it up at the Cat and Fiddle or watching American idol.

      4. The performance. Sounded pretty good. Though, um, still think they're pretty silly lyrics/topic.

  • Beauty has one name and that's Morrissey and Smart has 2, Morrissey and Craig Kilborn. The performance was to die for and those of you who missed it i recomend you live till you see it.

Others sang your life, so sing theirs.
  • Morrissey said on the show that he lives in a house that was built for Clark Gable. Then it occurred to me: he kind of looks like a mustache-less Clark Gable.

Loved the irony of the sexy shirt under the cardigan.

For those who couldn't see Morrissey on their TV's, I've put up an AVI file of Morrissey's performance. Due to the file size (75 Megs), I recommend hi-speed connection only. Only one user at a time allowed, so please be patient. Also, please be kind and refrain from connecting if you saw the show. Cheers! It's encoded in DivX 5.0.2, so you'll need to have the player/codec installed to watch it. The player is in this folder too.

  • I am a 25 year old man, but tonight, I showed my wife how Morrissey's incarnation causes a metamorphesis to take place in me. Tonight, I became a 12 year old girl screaming in delight at the television when Morrissey TV was announced. It was near 1 in the morning... being on the upstairs floor of my complex, I usually remind myself to be quiet since I have neighbors downstairs who are sleeping. Not tonight. Tonight was a very effeminate version of Super Bowl Sunday. To be precise...it was Morrissey Thursday!

I have seen and heard Morrissey interviews from around the world, since my brother has one of the largest Morrissey collections ever known. Morrissey has NEVER, ever, been as personable and intimate as he was tonight, except for his live performance in Las Vegas this last Saturday, where he was very, very, heart felt, expressive, and thankful...speaking to the audience directly...without his usual quips, between his emotional outpourings. Unfortunately...Craig Kilborn fails to capture Morrissey in this interview, but fortunately...Mozzer doesn't need an interviewer. He picked up the slack and commanded the show. You could tell he was very nervous...and you could also tell Craig was in absolute awe...probably why he sucked so much ass interviewing.

If you didn't catch this taping...YOU NEED TO FIND IT SOMEWHERE! You need this taping in your collection. It stands out in Morrissey history...it brings you up to date, or gives you a synopsis of who he is NOW, as opposed to what he used to be. He has never been funnier....happier...or more vocally superior.

Watching him tonight in all his glory drove the message home that he is definitely on the road of receiving a record contract to his liking. Someone out there is keeping a watchful eye on him. His live performances have been top notch.

I cheered when I heard Morrissey say, that the only reason he has made it this far was because he had such a STRONG fanbase, immediately after hearing the audience erupt with emotion. Magical. He seems to be really appreciative of his fans lately...being attentive to us and being very considerate.

I hope this opens up a huge door for him and pray we have a new album soon.

P.S. Alain looked 100 times better tonight then he did on Saturday.

  • I wasn't at the actual taping but I was fortunate enough to attend the rehearsal. It was amazing. To sit so close to the band with an unobstructed view was truly a dream come true. Without the vocal fans there, it was quite surreal. Seems like the show was a hit.

  • Morrissey happy? Hmmmm next thing you know he's gonna say he's getting married, but Mozzies always been a strange one. Nice to hear that he's finally happy, I wonder how long thats been going around, maybe since Maladjusted, maybe that why the album flopped. Oh well, just as long as he's happy I guess.

Just like everyone else, I waited up with baited breath to see not only Morrissey's live performance, but an actual American interview with him. I found his shyness refreshing and he seemed genuinely touched by the devotion of his fans in the audience.

He was intelligent, well spoken and polite, even though he had no problem expressing his views. Very touching interview overall. I'm glad to see how content he seems in his life and that he can honestly say he is "happy."

Tom Green is an idiot and was an embarrassment to have on the same show as someone as sincere and articulate as Morrissey. Poor planning on Craig's part.
