The band were wearing matching t-shirts w/ some number across the front and 1984 on the back. I don't really remember because Deano took his off ASAP! Anyway, only one stage invader. Morrissey dressed as a priest again and opened w/ HSIN. Said how he has three homes--Manchester, Dublin and Los Angeles--and he said he is pretty much an American citizen... just doesn't have the paperwork.
First encore, blue shirt. RIPPED IT OFF. Buttons everywhere. Stuffed it down his pants and then wiped his armpits and sweaty chest with it before tossing it into the crowd. Second encore, white shirt. OFF! Third encore, bluish grey shirt. Again, OFF! Then he walked off and the band kept playing. Meanwhile, a fight broke out to the right of the stage and then some dude started flashing gang signs. How embarrassing. Anyway, it was a great show. The band was tops. Deano's been working out. Jesse Tobias really rocks. Morrissey was brilliant. I hope someone gets a good recording of this one sans the screaming chick behind me. Oh well, better reviews to come (I hope).
PS - The usual Julia banter and down with Bush happened as well.

Folk Lore
Next time you're washing your hands and the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Here are some facts about the 1500s.
Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odour.
Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children--last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."
Houses had thatched roofs--thick straw--piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the dogs, cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof-hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."
There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could really mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existence.
The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt, hence the saying "dirt poor."
The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on the floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they kept adding more thresh until when you opened the door it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entranceway, hence, a "thresh hold."
In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and then start over the next day. Sometimes the stew had food in it that had been there for quite awhile. Hence the rhyme "peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old."
Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special.
When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man "could bring home the bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and "chew the fat."
Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with a high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning and death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous.
Most people did not have pewter plates, but had trenchers, a piece of wood with the middle scooped out like a bowl. Often trenchers were made from stale bread, which was so old and hard that they could be used for quite some time. Trenchers were never washed and a lot of times, worms and mold got into the wood and old bread. After eating off wormy, moldy trenchers, one would get "trench mouth.
Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or "upper crust."
Lead cups were used to drink ale or whiskey. The combination would sometimes knock them out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and dri

I don't remember what point in the show this was, around midway, but he asked Julia how she was, and if she needed anything. He passed the mic to her and she said she needed him to be very happy. He said, 'you're dreaming, Julia!' THEN...
He started asking other people in the pit how they were and if they needed anything. He started talking to a couple girls who seemed to be yelling and waving their arms (I couldn't completely see, I was in Orch row EE, they were near the left-center of the pit), and he had some kind of conversation with them. He was having trouble hearing them and he said into the mic, 'They left it in the... movie?' There was a long pause while he tried to hear or figure out what they were saying. He looked so pleasingly confused, like he was so fascinated by what these people were trying to say. He said to the audience, 'Wait, I'm sure she's going to say something brilliant.' Then he repeated something like, 'What? The movie? I really can't hear what you're saying.' Another long pause. Morrissey said, 'The eyepatch? What?' Pause. He had some kind of look of recognition and went 'Ohhhhhhhh,' sounding very disappointed. Then he turned around, walked back toward the drumkit, then turned back toward the audience and said, 'I was wrong!'

She asks Morrissey if he was upset that the forthcoming movie adaptation is stripping a character's eyepatch; she's upset because it's of some importance to the story.
Then Morrissey apologizes for shushing everyone and says he was wrong. The girl almost collapsed.

I flew myself and my girlfriend out to LA (from upstate NY) to see MOZ as a birthday present to her. We both were first timers and we both thought the show was absolutely amazing. We had pit tickets and were about 2 people behind the barracade on the left side of the stage.
I took a zillion pictures (along with some small video clips including the entire There Is A Light stage attack madness) and will be posting them to my website as soon as I have time.
I am very, very interested in obtaining a copy of the Nov. 11th show on both audio and video formats. If anybody can point me in the right direction, I would be eternally grateful. My email is: [email protected]
Also, I have read the reported setlists from the Nov. 11th show and I dont remember MOZ ever playing The More You Ignore Me. He did sing a chorus of it at the end of one song but they definitely did NOT play the entire song or even anywhere near the whole song which kind of bummed me out. The Now My Heart Is Full was totally unexpected but absolutely brilliant.
Anyways, I was super pscyhed on the show and it has been stuck in my mind for 5 days now. It is safe to say that I will be seeing MOZ evey time he tours the US from this point forward!
Please reply back (or email me) with any leads on where I can find a video or audio recording of the Nov. 11th show. Thanks so much!

I also didn't like the fact that the amphitheater only had one person manning the first aid station, and she was never there. Very unprofessional in my opinion.
So, does anyone know what the 278 shirts were about? I'm assuming they had some meaning. (Potentially, and this is just a wild guess: page 278 in the book 1984. Being that the backs did say 1984...anyone know?)
