  • Baarikärpänen(intro)...can someone please elaborate on this? What is it, what does it sound like and so forth.. And anyone who cares, I know I'm not the only one, can someone please give us a list of the Pre-Gig/Intermission songs played during the wait for Morrissey to come on, in between the supporting act and Moz. Please try! Also, what music or spoken word does Morrissey walk on to the stage with? Details, details, PLEASE! Also, is Morrissey wearing any buttons on his lapel, a wedding ring, dogtags, any form of plant life hanging from his crotch area? These are all things I need to know. Thank you, it is appreciated by many.

    "Otherwise, kill me..."
  • Just came home from the concert. It was brilliant!!! After introducing the band members in the middle of the set, Moz introduced himself as Morten Harket (the singer of a-ha), and the band even played parts of "take on me"...the audience was good, and so was the sound. Yes!!The concert lasted approx 75 mins, and I think the setlist was the same as in Finland. Can't wait for the Island Festival (Øyafestivalen) in August!!!!!

Someone said something about the guys would want to work up a bit of confidence before they change the set list, but I don't think they need anymore confidence. The band is truly brilliant!

The show was amazing. He played In The Future When All's Well (either he or someone close to him reads the comments on this site, I'm sure). He changed the line "Something must have gone right" to "Something must have gone wrong", which I from the first time I heard the song thought would sound more proper. But he left out Reader Meet Author, which was sad. Apart from that, same setlist as the other Scandinavian dates, I think.

Not very chatty tonight, but he did recieve a a very good reception from the Norwegian crowd. He asked if anyone remembered Nicole, and the song Ein Bischen Frieden. I don't know why he asked that, since she's German... He also said he was very happy today because ROTT had entered the Swedish midweek album chart at number 1, and the Norwegian chart at 375 (I don't think we have any midweek chart here).

Checking if Juila was there, and she was.

Boz and Gary looked liked they were enjoying themselves. He introduced Boz as the captain of the ship, Gary as 1. lieutenant, Mikey as their secret weapon, Matt and Jesse, I didn't get (the sound could have been better).

Mikey played the intro of Take On Me (by A-ha) before Trouble Loves Me.

And then it was over, way too soon! You girl at the front, with black hair and the black dress, dancing so gracefully to How Soon Is Now, you were stunning... Oh well, maybe in another life. This life is complete. Goodnight and thank you.

Don't think I've ever seen Morrissey in such a good mood before. He was chatty.. joked a lot (mozzlo! etc..) Some needed change in the recent setlists, excellent sound, and the band sounds much better than it did on the quarry tour. The setlist, packed with quarry and rott songs still leaves much to be desired, but with the setlist we got it was an excellent gig! Arrived about an hour and a half before the doors opened and was very surprised to see such a short que, and very few "recognicable" Moz fans. Mostly girls and some longhaired kids. A bit sad if you ask me.. it didn't look like a proper Moz que! Could have been the que for any shitty band. If someone doesn't com up with a correct setlist I'll see if I can remember it tomorrow 'caus there was some changes. (No Reader Meets Author and no I Have Forgiven Jesus)

I do hope he reintroduces Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before also - surely that will summon all the European stage invaders.

Is this true? I hope not.

  • Morrissey seems to make an effort to always deliver some sort of local gimmick on this tour, according to the country he's in. I went to Gothenburg and Stockholm, and not only was there a Swedish song on the pre-show tape that everyone knew, MIkey also played some sort of children's song that the crowd sang along to. Now in Norway, he plays a few bars of A-ha.

    Nice touch.

Wonder what else he'll come up with...

  • When the show was over a few girls in front of the stage were handed some stickers by the guards. The stickers were in the colours of the Italian flag and from what I could read they seemed to say "After-show party" (or something like that). The girls were later led out a door by the side of the stage.

Does anyone know what this was about? Or maybe some of you lucky girls could elaborate? – Was it something the Norwegian promoter arranged for local VIPs or was it in fact a back stage pass to see Morrissey's band?

I hope it wasn't the Boyfriends (who were quite awful) looking for girlfriends...

  • ...or am I alone in thinking that I would rather Morrissey dropped his increasing number of Smiths songs played live for more of his own stuff which has been long neglected? There are 4 Smiths songs in the current set and whilst I am a Smiths fan I don't need to hear them! I'd rather we got something from V&I, Your Arsenal or more from Southpaw, admittedly my favourite Morrissey albums. Or what about some of the non-album stuff - Boxers B-sides, Sunny, Swallow on my Neck. What about LOTFIPlayboys? Where is this stuff? I expect him to concentrate on Quarry and ROTT, that's entirely valid. But more Moz, less Smiths for this fan! And to drop Reader Meets Author to accomodate another ROTT song when there are 4 Smiths songs to cull? Argh! And I'm sorry, but LNIDSLM is a terrible encore/closer. Give me Speedway or We Hate it When Our Friends... or Billy Budd or ANYTHING but that! All said, can't wait to see him in May!

  • There he was.
Don't know what I'd expected. I was waiting for an unrealistic religious revelation, i suppose.
It didn't of course happen, but I feel fulfilled.

He's a genious to play for 75 minutes only, leaving us unsatisfied and hungry for more. It started wonderfully, and ended too soon.

The venue was intimate, and the mood was, as far as i know, ecstatic. But then again, I don't have anything to compare it with - so it could have been an awful Moz-show.

The whole experience is just unreal. Can't recall having actually been there, when i'm reading the reviews today.

    Come, come Roskilde!

  • I managed to get Gary Day's and Boz Boorer's (though Boz's have almost entirely been erased because of the moisture, there are only fragments left) autographs when they came to the venue and if I hadn't been so amazingly stupid I probably would have gotten Morrisseys too. Morrissey wasn't in the bus with the band but would come later and instead of standing outside the entrance I knew he would go in by I stood a bit from it trying to spot his car. I can't understand what I was thinking, rather I didn't think at all, why didn't I just wait outside the entrance! How can I be so stupid! I will probably never get a better chance of getting his autograph!

The show was great though. A lot more intimate than Gothenburg, the crowd was also much better. And I got to hold Morrisseys hand again when he sang "I am human and I need to be loved" and when he sang "No one I ever knew or have spoken to resembles you" he looked and pointed on me. I love him! If only I was more clever and had gotten his autograph too...
