  • Just got back, excellent show and he seemed in very good humour. highlights for me were At Last I Am Born and How Soon Is Now, ...Pigsty pretty amazing too. Morrissey almost dragged into the crowd at the end too, just saved by security. He asked Julia what she had for breakfat - it was weetabix. Asked another fan how old her children were now, she said they weren't born yet (?). No setlist surprises, ended with IBEH encore.

  • Just got back. Moz got the crowd to chant 'virgin radio is rubbish' before he would do an encore. Then he said to an american person on the front row 'wot song do u want to here' and when they replied with 'lost' he said 'get lost yankey doodle!' and played irish blood english heart. He was more into it tonight and the crowd were far far better than london.

    Julia: "Weetabix!"

Our first Moz gig but hopefully not our last.
Two tickets for Row H in the stalls cost £165 on E-Bay, but we missed out on standing as only the first 4 rows were allowed, and security really mean about it. When Moz came on stage everyone in the stalls stood up anyway.
Very positive spirit, everyone enjoying themselves. Moz acknowledged me and my gal' when he noticed us dancing wildly.

    t-shirts £20 inside, only £5 outside.

A brilliant night - we've looked forward to it for months and we certainly weren't disappointed!

Sounds like Morrissey's stage banter is becoming less clever and more mean-spirited. The whole 'how the fuck do you get a song played on Virgin Radio?' thing, too.

    What a drag.

  • From where i was sitting, which was basically on top of him as we were front row of the tier nearest to the stage, i almost peed with glee (but i didn't, i'm saving that pleasure for when i'm a bit older).

Morrissey had a bandage on his finger, this has probably been commented on by people at other gigs but to be honest i can't be arsed reading them at the moment! Right hand, index finger, bandage all the way from the knuckle up, exciting stuff isn't it? He had a sweat mark shaped like a heart on the back of his second shirt (pink), made me chuckle. These are the things people want to hear i have no doubt. Still ill lyrics changed again to "I should know because i've seen them, very very often".

The crowd were lovely, everyone seemed very friendly too which is unusual for Morrissey gigs (no offence intended, some of you are just miserable bastards).

The security guards were absolute tossers, i saw one boy get pulled out just for reaching over too far to try & touch morrissey. If anyone dared to get over the barriers they'd push them down & twist their arms & face in funny angles, think of stretch armstrong if you need to imagine it.

To be honest, i woke up & discovered that I have ye olde tonsilitus & can't be bothered writing everything up, i hope whoever went had a lovely time though & that someone else writes an in-depth account because i'd like to read it once i get rid of the snot and retching.

  • win.
Virgin played First of the Gang to death. It was a brilliant song way better than anything on the current album and, presumably, if Moz wrote another brilliant, zingy single, Virgin would play that too. But R1 won't play Moz no matter how good the song is!
R2 is being very supportive (You Have Killed Me was one of its most played songs) and Moz should be grateful for that.
He needs to find someone who can write brilliant, upbeat pieces of music if he ever wants to escape the old-school indie world and have songs which non-music fans will at least get to hear.

  • I was right at the front, and it rocked, i got to shake moz`s hands twice, he came right over, the barrier was so close to the stage, i never imagined ever being that close, a few guys tried to get onto the stage but where mangled by security, they did manage to get some contact with moz though, who happily reached for them.
At one point, he had sweat patches on his shirt that looked like a bra haha, he had a bandage on his right elbow and wedding finger on his right hand, i touched it woooo, the support band were good but we all wanted moz to appear and the crowd went nuts when he did.
Overall brilliant f*cking gig and moz was great, at the end we chanted for them to come back on but boz looked at us and said no and made the sign that they were going to the pub lol. I got totally crushed on the barrier but the bruises are worth it, great gig moz , please come back to cardiff!!!! I was in the black hat at the front.

  • Europe (well ok maybe not.. North Wales, Manchester and Amsterdam) and Cardiff was fantastic. Hmmmm 10 minutes from my house. Oh well!!!

One from the front row, right by the centre. Very genteel compared to some of the Moz gigs I've been to standing (the Apollo springs to mind on this tour)

Julia stood to the right of me, bloke to the left of me shook his hand twice!!! Amazing to see Moz THAT close up after "all these years"
Nice close-up of his ring(s) oo-er and some of the expressions he pulls when singing are just utter class! His hands look very soft for a 47yr old man! Wonder if he uses Nivea...

Moz and t'lads really seemed to enjoy it. The sound in St Davids Hall is renowned for being good. Maybe this helped?

The weetabix comment was amusing! Though someone I know shouted out Black Pudding. HA HA.

Security were the usual neanderthals.... do they grow on trees??

And noone seemed to notice that Jesse was sporting the Moz 1oz necklace thing (I think)

All in all excellent. Cheers Morrissey!! Come back to Cardiff...

Next stop Cheltenham. My legs ache though.

  • Went to the gig last night slightly worried after all the criticism of late.
I've seen Moz a number of times over the years, not passionately following him throughout the tours, but wow, after last night I don't think it could possibly get any better than this. It was an awesome performance. This is what you want to hear about on this site, not pretentious ramblings about nothing in particular.
Forget concerns about his voice, his health, his frame of mind, last night proved the man is most certainly in charge and at his peak, there is no question.
Rubbish to those querying the set list, there was not one weak or out of place track played last night. Christ, he could play all night if he wanted, but what was played suited the night. It was fantastic, the man has to be applauded and so do the band. The 3 Smiths tracks were exceptionally good, even the jangly version of Coma and HSIN, well it's still a monster two decades on. My personal highlight, which to be honest is difficult to pick, was Trouble Loves Me, which shows everyone there is nothing wrong with the main man, he was stunning. All the tracks played from ROTT were amazing too, especially In The Future, which is a favourite so I was chuffed he played it.
One last thing to add, I was proud to be in the audience, the fans and there were definitely lots of us last night, were unbelievable and that's what gets Moz and the band to perform beyond expectations. I was lucky to be standing, but the atmosphere was superb from start to finish. He appreciates our efforts, that make no doubt, two bows with the whole band and a final Ciao made the night.
Well done Cardiff and well done Moz and the Tormentors, a night to cherish.....

  • When they all bounded on at the start Moz bent down and kissed his monitor - presumably the cause of the previous night's problems. Well worth the kiss because the night was toppermost of the poppermost - well done the Welshies for making Moz & Co put on such a great show.

He didn't look too happy when the balcony fool kept gurgling "Smiths" and "Panic", but that didn't knock him off his stride and he seemed to be really enjoying it, as did the band.

It was, all in all, really, really good.

Travelled 600 mile round trip to see the Palladium Gig followed by the Cardiff gig. I thought the London crowd were awful and add to this the sound problems Moz was experiencing I wasn't surprised that the great man did not seem 'Up for it'. My how he made up for it in Cardiff . . . .after seeing The Smiths and Morrissey hundreds of times over the years this gig was one of the best ever. Nothing less than complete satisfaction at the end. Sound it has to be said was crystal - funny looking place St Davids Hall but it made for a great night with that little bit so close to the stage - all looked like a lot of fun at the front.

  • It really is upsetting reading some of these posts, Ok it should be free for all and a freedom of speech but you are not doing Morrissey any favours. This website has become a wasteland of really vicious and upsetting postings by people just wanting to stir things up and upsetting other people. I really do not want to be nasty but I would like you to take some responsibility of this. What started as a fan website has grown into a fully grown monster.

  • Great show the album sounds great live, probably the most comfy venue ive seen him in (my 11 time!) He sang 'If the usa doesnt bomb you' with relish !

I think the encore was cut short because the crowd was getting excited, but moz never minds, I remember, when we could clamber onto the stage and hug him, security is so panicky though nowadays

    Roll on oxford!

  • This new web formatleaves me cold. I'm posting on here as it's the only place I recognise anymore. Anyway, good luck with your venture into morrissey-musicism, sad to say, I miss the olden days.

P.S What is in your fridge?

  • For a change;

    Magnificient, miserable, mediocre Morrissey.
    Oh look I can use alliteration too;

    Geriatric, gushing, Gavin the gash.

oh and another thing I noticed Moz seemed to make a point of touching his toes... as in he can still touch my toes!!!

  • I don`t want to cause an argument here, but whats all this fish supper talk? I doubt Morrissey would eat fish, or he wouldnt call himself a veggie. Either way, doesn`t stop me idolising him, even though im a veggie myself.
