COncert itself is impossible to explain! It was the most ecstatic concert we were at. There were 3000 people in the audience and every song was sang loudly from start till the end, flowers were throws, total mayhem. Morrissey and the band appeared all wearing white shirts saying "Meso je ubojstvo" which in Croatian means "Meat is murder" and they were smiling all throught the concert, overwhelmed by the response they were getting.
In the end Morrissey said that "When you go to bed tonite and think about yourself and are content about yourself, think about me. You have been a dream to me. I am going to dream about you tonite with my eyes open" also "Thank you for listening".
and how the only reason they never came to croatia before is that they were never asked to come.

Other things he said were calling the mosquitos
    Mozzies:).
Another thing when people in the crowd were shouting for There is a light, he just went "Which light? That one? That one?" Pointing at lights around
He talked how Ringleader reached no 5 in Croatian charts and thanked the people who bought it and say that it's on if they didn't.
Before Human Being he introduced the songs as a songs from a band 100 years old that only 4 people ever listened to.
He say that the saddest songs are always the best, and that he doesnt know why.

At the end everyone from band took off their shirts and threw them in the crowd and played IBEH shirtless.

For me best moments were Human Beings and Panic
Also met Julia and she's really pleasant lady.
    In two words, amazing night:)

    • I agree with the previous post, just came home from Croatia to Slovenia and been drivin' a few hours. I guess he was never asked to come to Slovenia too ;)

It seemed like he was in a really good mood, was pretty talkative. He did thank the four people that bought the Ringleader but also said in case you didn't that's ok, ha, ha. After Human Being he said it sounded ok and it could be much worse: "We might play something from Rolling Stones!"

The setlist isn't quite right actually. It's definetly...

  • Moz I'm not thinking about myself.
All I think about is you. I grow old with you.
I've been thinking only you. I'm nothing and you are my everything. You are wonderful and so sweet. You are not a dream because you're real.
    I love you Moz.

  • By Friday this life has killed me :-)
It was a beautiful concert last night, it seemed as if Moz was in a good mood, the audience loved him, and no one wanted the night to end. After the last song (Irish Blood, English Heart), the crowd just stood standing still, screaming and hoping he will get up on the stage for one more song. A wonderful night! My favourits: How Soon is Now (I am human and I need to be love loved...), You have killed me (Always I do forgive you), and Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me. I wish he had played There is a light, and I have forgiven Jesus.

  • it was the best concer i've ever seen (and i've seen quite a few)
i love morrissey with all my heart, but i didn't expect him to sound so brilliant live - he often sounded better than on the record...he was clearly enjoyin
himself, i think he felt the pure love coming from the audience (i certainly felt that!) - it was incredible.... he was very talkative and as witty as you might have expected ..... he was pointing at the light somewhere around the stage and said:
"Can you see the light...? and all those little... mozzes?"
actually he enjoyed torturing us because we kept asking for there is a light....
audience ---"Morrissey, Morrissey!!! THERE IS A LIGHT!!!!!!!"
Moz-------- "Where is the light??? "
    audience------"there!!!!!!!"
a bit later he was like:
    "there´s a light...and there´s a light...oh,look,there´s a light too..." (pointing at the lights around the stage)
of course he didn't play it.
    this was a good one.....
"about 100 years ago... there was a band that was huuuuge in Croatia...there were 4 of them.. ...they were called the New York Dolls... 4 people in croatia knew about them, and they didn't like them."
he also mentioned that ringleader reached number FIVE in croatia and thanked the ones who bought it.
    and...
"it's nice to see your smiling faces...but soon you'll cry, soon you'll cry!"
    oh moz, i love you.
and he didn't even play every day is like sunday!! or suedehead!! but it really felt like nothing was missing...ringleader is his best solo album in my opinion anyway, Life is a pigsty is moz at his finest, and it sounded fantastic live (it was also wonderful to hear 3000 people screaming - liiiiiiife is a pigstyyyyyy....!!!!!!!)
he played 4 smiths songs and those were the most emotional moments for the audience i think....how soon is now was first...he played girlfriend in a coma.... i saw a girl crying during last night i dreamt....and everybody went nuts about Panic!
in the end i caught a bottle with Holy Water (He drank from it!!) and i will keep it forever
his voice sounds the same as on the old smiths records. it's beautiful. he was completely in control, he's actually a great showman ... he was sweating like a pig, throwin shirts in the audience, touching his breast (oh morrisseeeeeeey), praying (just for a moment! i saw it i swear)...
i'm still thinkin about the concert - it was such a brilliant experience. but i wish it lasted longer. i wish he came back for the 2nd encore - we were screamin and shoutin and cryin and beggin...but he didnt come back. i guess he's never done it for anybody. but he loved us, i could see that, and we loved him endlessly. i'm sure i'm not the only person in croatia who dreamt about him last night. and the night before that. and......

sorry about this, i'm lookin for a person from the concert so i'll write in croatian:

  • Calling Zagreb (Score:2, Informative)

I returned last night from this fantastic city, really happy to be able to read and confirm the reports of a simply wonderful festival ... especially the Moz concert. Thanks guys (Kaiser and the various anons) for so capably jogging my memory about so much of it!
I’ll start off by thanking the INmusic organisers for an absolutely fantastic event ... the first of its kind in Zagreb.
Both evenings were perfect. The venue was an outdoor ice-hockey/skating rink which, thanks to its position on top of a hill and its steepish seating around the sides, furnished it with a very intimate, amphitheatre-like ambience. The stage was at just the right height and gave Moz plenty of space to do his mic-whip-trick-thing ;-), curl up into a ball by the drum riser (during "Life is a Pigsty”) and let Boz and Gary occasioanally maraud – all to equally dramatic effect.

The sound was superb and Moz’s stage lighting blended wonderfully into the Zagreb dusky sky. Add to that the excellent facilities, the very friendly security staff and the very enthusiastic audience ... it all made for a very special event. I am sure that Morrissey and his band, (as well as Franz Ferdinand, two evenings previously) really enjoyed the evening. Moz seemed to really be in his element ... really happy with the recpetion he got and with the performance.

I was easily able to get down the front and stood more or less behind Julia, who is indeed a very dear, pleasant lady. Before it started, all around me the audience of all ages were clutching flowers, singing their hearts out to whatever songs came into their heads ... it was great to see and hear ... they had had a very long wait, remember!
The band came on as always to "What a pretty” and assembled for their bow before proceedings got underway. They seem more of a united force than ever before and ... is it just me ... or isn’t their bow indescribably cool? It certainly suited the ‘theatre’ of this evening. And yes, the band all had t-shirts on bearing "Meso je ubojstvo” ("Meat is murder”) ... what other musical act pays so much attention to detail with such things, everywhere they go?

Can anyone remember how he greeted the audience and produced a neat segue into "How soon is now”? It was something like "Zagreb Zagreb, it’s been a long long time but the time is now ... and how soon, how soon is now?” (But my memory is poor when I get so involved). Anyway, it was terrific as an opener!

After "How soon is now” he looked for and found Julia. I can thoroughly understand why he enjoys her presence. Her serenity is infectious and I had a very nice chat with her on the way out about Zagreb, Hamburg (where I live), Novi Sad and future shows. She is very attentive in converstation, has a very impressive memory and posseses a considerable air of authority. It was very nice to meet her!

The stage lighting showed that Moz was indeed surrounded by "Moz, Moz, little Mozzies ... arrrrrgh Mozquitos” and when he invited us to look up at the lights, " Look, there is a light, there is another big light” he once pointed to the adjacent swimming pool floodlights where there was an incredible swarm of flying insects. I don’t think they were of the biting variety though ... well I didn’t get bitten, at least, and they usually like me. It might have been a bit teasing of him to do this with the light business, but it was funny and the time he did it before they launched into "I will see you...” well, there really is an amazing light coming from the stage.

He was in a great mood, and thanked the audience for getting him to number 5 in the Croatian charts. ("And if you didn’t buy it, well that’s also fine”).
He introduced the band by ascribing different orchestral instruments to the guys ... I think it went like, "And over here on the left

  • One of his best concerts, that's for sure. It was so real-the witty comments coming from both sides and just the whole atmosphere was great..I came all the way from London where I live at the moment(I'm from the town of Rijeka-Croatian coast) when I heard that Morrissey was playing at Salata. So, that just proves that it doesn't take a gigantic venue and tones of people to make it right. All you need is 3000 fans who are truly devoted to their hero and will cheer on for the whole stadium!!!
Morrissey you're in our hearts-from Croatia
