  • Just in - I thought it was superb - Venue is much better than the SECC in Glasgow where I saw him on Saturday - Crowd did seem a bit muted at start but got in to it well enough once it got underway.

A Few set list changes - He did I'll never be anybodys hero now and finished with Don't Make Fun Of Daddys Voice (2 song encore!!).

He was on good form talking about Saturday Night Sunday Morning (1960's film - A Classic favourite of mine)

How he wouldn't last more than a week in Nottingham because of the gun culture (" A clean bullet to the head"

Mentioned Julia once (for those sad enough to bother about that - Lucky her), and handed the microphone over to two audience members who failed to impress ("Oh My God")

All in all an excellent gig in my opinion (I've seen him plenty times and know what I'm talking about) - It has left me so much happier than Saturdays Glasgow gig. If I think of anything else I'll post it but I'm off to my bed!

  • Rubbish. Utter rubbish. I was bored rigid. You all know I'm right. And before you kick off, I've been there since a Smiths gig at Loughborough Uni in 1983, but by God, I object to shelling out 40 quid to have the piss taken out of me by a singer who doesn't give a fuck. Morrissey, you lazy, LAZY useless bastard. You got precisely what you deserved in Nottinghsm tonight. 100% apathy.

  • Can't believe all the gumpy fuckers havin a go. The setlist was awesome! This is was my 3rd gig, the last one before tonight i went to was in grimsby, but this one completely eclipsed it. NFdisco, Panic, Girlfriend in a coma, Everyday is like sunday and more! Some people need to be less critical, he even let people have a go on the mic. Up theire with the Earls court gig i went to back in December 2004. I thorughly enjoyed it.

  • It was a wet and windy Tuesday in Nottingham and the venue was a bit of an aircraft hangar, so perhaps it's not surprising the audience weren't jumping about like crazed loons.

Personally, I had a great time. 'I've Changed My Plea to Guilty' and 'Dear God, Please Help me' were my highlights, both exquisitely sung - lovely to see a few more ballads in the set.

There were 5 Smiths songs (How Soon Is Now, Panic, Girlfriend In A Coma, Please, Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want, William It Was Really Nothing); 3 B-sides (Ganglord, I've Changed My Plea to Guilty, Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice); 6 from Ringleader of the Tormentors (I Will See You in Far Off Places, Dear God, Please Help Me, You Have Killed Me, In The Future When All's Well, I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero Now, I Just Want to See The Boy Happy); one from Viva Hate (Everyday Is Like Sunday); one from Your Arsenal (National Front Disco), one from Bona Drag (Disappointed); 3 from You Are The Quarry (Irish Blood, English Heart, First of the Gang to Die, Let Me Kiss You) and nothing from Vauxhaul & I, Southpaw Grammar and Maladjusted.

I know people are always complaining about these set-lists, but I think Morrissey rotates his catalogue quite cleverly and it's great when an old favourite rears its lovely head again (Disappointed being a notable example from this evening).

If you saw him earlier in the year, I think you're in for a treat with the revised set-list and the man himself looks and sounds better than ever.

I have seen the same or similar setlists on consecutive nights and felt very differently each time. He's different, the venue and crowd are different, we're in a different town or city, you're feeling different personally and all these subtle differences add up to a notably different experience that you stow away with all the others. If you go to just one show, the stakes are so much higher - you've got everything invested in one experience and so, perhaps inevitably - just sometimes - you can be disappointed.

  • I thought this was an excellent gig! I was stuck in the seated area (I'm disabled, not much choice there I'm afraid) but I still felt 'part of the gig'. It did strike me that there are certain breeds of fans who will pay money just to boo him, which to me, being a poor swine, seems rather silly.

But aside from those people who want to wait and be impressed before they have fun, I had a wonderful time. I don't think I'll ever forget the moment when he handed the mic to the crowd...

  • Well, this was my first Morrissey live, and I can't believe what I have been missing. I adore him, but have not been able to get to anything for various reasons. It was SO worth the wait! he was stunning, amazing, and in such good voice. I loved the set list, and his bits in between were brilliant (clean shot to the head!).
There were some miserable gits though..I got my hand on the first shirt of the evening, along with a couple of others, but was forced to give it up after a bouncer saw us all pulling to try and rip it up, and just gave it to some guy. People round us were like 'oh it's only a f***ing shirt' etc...yeah flipping MORRISSEY's shirt! ha.
All in all a fantastic show, and can't wait for my next! xxx

He was totally adored and worshipped by us. The whole gig was pure class. I last saw Morrissey 20 years ago in Nottm with the Smiths and he has lost none of his unique magic. Bit pissed off at all the shoving tho, maybe i'm just old. You never got that at a Smiths concert it was far more genteel and respectful

  • I had a great night. The setlist worked well and I was delighted with Dear God as like many songs on ROTT it was so much better live. NFD was great to hear and the 2 song encore ended the event in style.

A fair amount of chat - and the cultural interest of Saturday Night and Sunday Morning being filmed in Nottingham, he quoted a line from Hylda Baker (which I'm struggling to remember due to lack of sleep.

The crowd were low key initially but warmed up. I was lucky enough to be standing near the front - the centre section was packed and lively to the sides there was more space - I'll stick some images up later.

The set was awesome and there was an amazing range of old and new songs. The atmousphere at the front of the standing area was electric and the crowd really got into it. I am 15 and it was my first time seeing Morrissey, but i will definitely go to see him again.

BUT... despite an amazing performance from the man there was something distinctly subdued about the whole thing. We were about 2 back but on the left hand side and after the initial madness it completely went flat. • Not sure why people are moaning about this gig. It was always going to be less intense than the smaller gig venues of earlier in the year. For an arena gig it was one of the better ones, especially NF Disco which was a belter on the night. Well done all the younger crowd who stuck it out at the front (especially the tiny girl just right of centre), this crushing sensation will oddly become addictive! Got a lovely piece of the black Gucci shirt... Crack on now to Birmingham tomorrow and do the whole thing again!

  • I'd just to like to say that, after all the people complaining about recent gigs, I was worried that I might come away slightly disappointed last night, but not one bit.

Morrissey and the band were in absolutely fabulous form and I think the only thing I was really disappointed with was the sound quality of the arena itself - not entirely unexpected, but it really does have the acoustic finesse of a rusty dustbin...which is a huge pity when you're listening to one of the finest vocalists the world has ever produced.

As for the crowd, I thought they were mostly a bit on the flat side, which was a shame as Morrissey definitely put the effort in. However, as one of the people who chose to buy a seated ticket and sit in quiet appreciation on the sidelines myself, I think it's good to have that choice and for other people to respect it...if you want to shout and leap around, buy a standing ticket and have yourself an utterly fabulous night, but drunken wazzocks like the bloke in Block 15 row D who spent the whole night stood up and waving his arms about so that nobody behind him could see properly, screaming tunelessly and facing *away* from the stage for most of the gig just spoil other people's enjoyment for no good reason, IMHO. There was plenty of room on the main floor for him to express himself freely, if that was what he wanted.

Morrissey is a beautiful, beautiful genius to all those blessed with the intelligence to see and hear it - long may the great man continue to wow us with live performances like this one.

  • This leg has prompted complaints about the Arena sound quality at the gigs so far. Well I am the bearer of bad news if you are planning a trip to Gmex. The sound is very very bad in there. It is an old train station, and the accoustics are absolutely dour. Sorry, but it's sadly true.

  • Really enjoyed last night. Thought his singing was really good and the sound quality too.
Can't really understand all the moaning on here. Morrissey gets slagged off for playing the smaller venues earlier in the year and the tickets getting to the touts/EBay but he now gets slagged off for playing arenas which he can't sell out and so don't have the same atmosphere
He obviously enjoyed it given the 2 songs he played as the encore. Just because everyone wasn't dancing etc doesn't mean they didn't enjoy it
Also thought it was the most mixed audience I have seen at one of his gigs. The previous 2 I attended in 2002 and earlier this year mainly had people like me there - aging mid 30's - but last night there was a real mixture the youngest of whom seemed about 10!! Not sure what they would have made of some of the B sides played but then again you can't please everyone

Didnt get why he did Daddys Voice as a final song ?I dont want to harp on about Halifax but that did take some beating. Please Please Me was the highlight . I have to say that William shows how much his voice suits his own work and in some cases his solo work eclipse's his work with the Smiths and I think that alonside GIAC are fine examples. Utterley amazing !! Role on Manchester

The gig was an enriching experience: lots of wry smiles, chuckles and the odd tear (“There is no point saying this again/But I forgive you...” Oh my first love, long ago...) Passolini glowering down on the proceedings gave everything an edge of suffering. And I fell in love a little with Kristeen’s high notes. I’d buy her single, but nobody sells it. So I bought Mozzy’s single so I could hear her sing backing vocals on ‘Sweetie Pie’. No I did, really.
