and as for me, I stand with the tribe of Morrissey.
  • That setlist is nearly complete; just missing a couple songs. He played Disappointed in between Boy and Suedehead. He also played How Soon Is Now between Disco and You Have Killed Me.

I was ecstatic that he opened with The Queen Is Dead and indeed played Lucky Lisp!

Good opening show, but the stage jumpers got out of control by the end, especially the last guy who wouldn't let go and forced Moz to shut down and leave the stage not even halfway through First of the Gang to Die. Seems like there were close to 20 people who got on stage throughout the evening, but I lost count after a while.

Both of them made it on stage tonight to greet Morrissey, One during "Life Is A Pigsty" and the other during the aborted "First of the Gang to Die".

It was amazing to say the least...

  • ... with a knit cap pulled tightly over his head and trying to look incognito on the way to the tour bus, you should have seen the smirk (you know the one, where he's smiling while biting the inside of his cheek) on his face. As much as he chose to not finish FOTGTD, events like last night add to the legend even more.

Think about it. The first show of his North American tour and forevermore his history will document yet another show (even at this stage of his career) where the fans are just to fervent a force for the security to handle, and Morrissey has to be escorted off for his protection.

    Brilliantly played.

  • i am mainly thankful that it didn't get truly ridiculous until the encore.

all at the expense of "first of the gang.." and (probably) "there is a light.."

    sigh.

i know it's pointless to ask, because people are unreasonable, but for the future shows..Dear God, Please Don't Invade. if it happens too much or is too aggressive it can literally ruin the show for sooo many people, some of whom haven't seen morrissey before.

usually, stage invaders are ejected from the venue as well, so even if they don't cause the show to be cut short for everyone, they Do get the show cut short for themselves because they are kicked out.

i know it's exciting to get up there and possibly touch morrissey, but at heart, it's a selfish act. Please think it over before you do it and possibly ruin the show for hundreds of other people. can't you just enjoy the experience for what really matters..the music you love; the songs that saved your life?

Just some anti-invader wanker made up the final song was going to be TIAL--the most appreciated smiths/morrissey song ever--just to stir up more anti stage invador protest on morrissey solo. For fuck's sake, they have been part of morrissey shows forever, and only now the old farts with a bad back are complaining.

  • damn that's a lot. and a very fan-favorite setlist. I always felt morrissey plays better shows in the US recently, probably because he feels more forced to compromise with the setlist in order to fill the venues. In uk, where he will sell-out, he plays more of what he wants (meaning recently very ROTT)

  • Tried to listen better to clarify the lyrics to All You Need Is Me, but the sound when up close to the stage is too distorted and I think Mozzer mumbles the lyrics in the 2nd quatrain (the part in between "You roll you eyes up to the sky" and "but you're still here")

Backdrop is famous one of James Dean looking over his shoulder at the snowy, Dean family gravesite in Fairmount, IN (see Suedehead viddy).

Intermission viddies had at least one new one of an effeminate man with a ballerina/tap dancer whom he mistreats (singing & dancing -- before Lipsynka viddy), and there's also another one that appears to be a film clip of these male English actors in b/w.

I wrote the following last night:

Am still in shock. Moz opened with The Queen Is Dead!!!! Haven't heard him play it live since Claremont 97.

Excellent show though the stage crashers were out of hand and forced him to quit early, depriving Stockton of There Is A Light encore. I know this because of the setlist.

Moz in top form but the sound was poor -- too much guitar in the mix and Mozzer's mic didn't seem to work all the time. He even dropped it a couple of times.

This really was the Greatest Hits tour. The t-shirts (designs are nothing much to shout about) proclaim it's his greatest hits tour in the United States, but they are too lazy to print the dates on the back. There is also a very funny one that says Moz Posse, I guess like the Moz Krew?! But at $35, that joke is too expensive for me.

Played all the faves (even ones I think are cliched like HSIN) such as EDILS, Suedehead, HSIN (of course)...and Boy w/ the Thorn in His Side!!! WOw, now if he would only play Reel Around the Fountain, Handsome Devil, and Some Girls...I think I could die fulfilled.

I am so glad I came to Stockton! Tomorrow I will attend the asparagus festival (Moz joked by welcoming us to the first day of the...asparagus festival). Then onward ho to Sparks!

I Will See You In Far Off Places 18. Life Is A Pigsty 19. Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want encore 20. You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side 21. First Of The Gang To Die This song was only partially performed . Many stage invaders got on and it was getting riotous. The bouncers, who prior to this were taking people off stage politely, but now they were charging them and throwing them off violently. I don't blame them though. The people getting onto the stage were being very rude to old Mogsy. Morrissey was talkative throughout, but was having sound problems. As he approached the audience end of the stage he was getting feedback, so he would sing most of the time, mid-stage. He said he liked the Bob Hope Theater because Bob Hope was British. He said in the begining...Welcome to the start of the....Asparagus Festival. He talked about Stockton and the TV show Big Valley with Barbra Stanwick? The music prior to this set was a video of some Spanish TV program, an old concert piece of the New York Dolls, A Wardrobe screen test of James Dan from East of Eden, and I think, Bridget Bandeau in an old video,,her by an old Rolls Royce. There are 10 different shirts being sold for $35. A belt buckle for $20 and a Money Clip for $15. On charcoal in color and one brown with a younger Morrissey picture on the front With America 2007 on the back. A white Seasons T and one called Morrissey cream Tattoo. A navy blue saying Morrissey Greatest hits 2007 with a screening of a pair of boxing gloves. also a girlie T and a blur beater type and a white beater type with same greatest hits. (I think that was all) And yours truly made a mark with old Mogsy. When Pigsty was started I took out my prepared banner/sign, and as he looked my direction, I held it up and I saw him read it...."I CAN"T REACH YOU ANYMORE" I was near he stage n the right but not at stage edge. As the song progressed, and it came to that line of the song, he came to my end of the stage and I was holding the sign up. He came to me and those around and in front..I leaned in and reached toward me and squeezed/shook my hand!!!! He then back off toward stage middle, and as he did, I tossed my sign toward him, and it hit him in the head/face. ( I didn't intend that to happen) He then took the sign, looked a little at it and tucked an end of it into his trousers and it hung down his leg. He finished the song, went off stage and came back with a changed shirt. My sign was left in the back I guess. He changed shirt 2 times. First shirt went into the crowd. Oh...after he went off stage to change shirt..I wrote a little not saying "I apologize for throwing my sign in your face." and put my email address on it. I threw this onto the stage. The bouncer picked up the note. So don't know if Moz will see/read it. I hope so. That is all. It is late..and I can't hear out of my right ear from standing next to the speaker stack. I actually chewed up some paper and made wads for each ear as ear plugs because it was so loud. Helped a little. • He actually got on stage twice... read on...

My wife and I were sat directly next to the guy who tackled Morrissey and got the show ended early. When my wife and I first got to the show and were seated the guy looked like he gave me a dirty look as we filed passed him to our seats (maybe I mis-read his facial expression). He was a big burly Latino guy who my wife and I later after the show ended referred to as "Hector". His wife (or whom ever she was, we didn't know for sure at the time) was pregnant and they had smuggled in what looked like a full size digital camera. The pregnant woman was sat directly next to my wife mentioned to my wife that "her husband" was going to get onstage and he wanted her to take his picture when he got up there. She told my wife she was reluctant to take his picture because the camera they brought kept flashing and it made her nervous. About halfway through the show he successfully made it onstage and I believe he touched Mozzer. I don't know if his wife was able to get his picture. He was escorted back to his seat where the pregnant woman he was with (his wife) gave him a hug and several people gave him thumbs up. Well I guess one stage rush was not enough for this guy because he again made his way down the left side of the stage (with his wife this time) and somehow got passed the security. I saw him briefly talking to the security people and pointing to his wife's stomach. Maybe he was explaining that she was pregnant? I am not sure but that security person let him through and I lost site of him until he tackled Morrissey and the show ended. I did see him after the lights came on being escorted by security up the left side of the auditorium and he did not look bloodied or hurt but he did have a look of shame in his eyes.

  • I really enjoyed this show. It was beyond amazing, except for the jackass that had to bum rush Morrissey. Fans shouldnt be so violent to him. He was suppose to end the show with There Is a Light That Never Goes Out. I know because i got one of the setlists. BUT it never happened. I was speechless when he opened with Queen Is Dead. And Life is a Pigsty was fucking awesome.

I had front row seats which cost me an arm and a leg. Now only did he grab my hand, I got a huge chunk of his black buttonup he threw out to the audience. That wasnt easy to get. I ended up ripping a few pieces off for fellow fans. I wasnt going to be selfish. It smells like a mix of incense and greatness!!

I got really good pictures and videos too with my camera phone.

  • Let me get this straight, some cunts were pissed that a guy got overzealous during an encore, and so decided that it was their duty to track the guy down and beat him? Seriously? This is the new standard at Morrissey concerts? Fucking pathetic.

It's absolutely absurd that this "Guardo" (terrible name) character is being canonized on here, and puffing himself up as a vigilante.

It's just another example of the ghettoizing of Morrissey's fan-base which has grown to posses little intelligence. I've seen this happen at more than one show. Some cholo in the audience feels it's his duty to be the audience enforcer, yet only makes the rest of the crowd tense with the encouragement of the mob mentality.

Security is there. It's their job to deal with these scenarios, not yours. Nothing justified lynching the guy, and anyone who is applauding, or encouraging this kind of behavior is morally corrupt.

Sucker kicking a guy is nothing to be proud of. It just shows how far removed you are from civilization.

  • I am trying to find a couple pics to use as a CD cover to burn a mix of the set list for my boy...My phone cam crapped out on me. When I first met him a year ago he did not really know Moz/The Smiths or care for him...However when Morrissey tickets showed up and he bought them for me I was so happy...So I tried to get him all into by playing CDs and DVDs...

At the concert he bought us both tshirts and he was so floored that Moz did "Boy With a Thorn..." since I always say that song reminds me of him...We live in Modesto but decided to stay in Stockton for the night and the next day we were just amazed by the night before. Yesterday when he went home he took a stack of Moz/the Smiths cds to listen to...and he plans on wearing his shirt...:)

Our 1 year is coming up and being the art-fart that I am I want to create something with memory so I though to do a cd with a few photos...Can anyone help?
