  • OMG!! This show was so amazing. I was right in front of the stage got to shake his hand twice. Never thought after all these years that one day I'd be that close. The setlist was perfect, can't remember the order am still in shock over being there. Next I'm off to Columbus.

  • OK, since noone's doing the business I will:
Overall sweet show with great energy. Excelelnt venue as well.

    Set List and comments:
    -The Queen is Dead
-First of the Gang to Die
After he said "What do you expect for seven dollars?" VERY funny.
-The Youngest Was the Most Loved
    -You Have Killed Me
-After he asked Julia if she remembered "the last Cleveland" She passed the mic to a woman next to her after saying something about "last time or two times ago." The woman next to her said "Seven Years ago" and Morrissey took the mic back and kind of comedically groaned. They they went into a ripping
    -Disappointed
After he said "What the hell to say about the past? Nothing." Then they launched into an excellent
    -Panic
He introduced the band and when he got to the new lad on piano he said he was "Born and Braised in Cleveland Ohio and is still alive" or something to that.
-Let Me Kiss You (ripped his shirt off during that one! After said "Thank you for still being in the building"
-I Just Want to See the boy Happy
After there was banter about touring by road rather than plane...and then he gave the mic to a woman who talked about how she and her partner were goig to have a baby vai artificial insemination. Moz quipped about it.
-I Will See You In Far Off places
After he said "The next US president will be????" and then they launched into

Great time...excellent set and good energy. I'm tired...I just got back to Pittsburgh. I was one of the "older now clever swine" in row Z writing all this down. Thank you and good night.

  • Just got back home to DEEEtroit. Tonight's show was fantastic, even better than Detroit's show. Every fan I met was very kind. The venue was beautiful. The first five or six rows were folding chairs, which allowed some shifting forward. I had fourth row but first is ALWAYS better. Moz sounded great. He was not as touchy with the crowd as usual. He did pass the mic to two women and quipped with 'em a bit. He tossed two shirts into the crowd. He was sporting some 'very nice jewelry' tonight, two 'gianormous' rings and beautiful cufflinks. Bravo! He mentioned that he does not have a record deal AGAIN! ???!!?? Also, he mentioned that the America tour is being traveled by road solely. He went on again about the horror of air travel and stated that he was avoiding/boycotting United and American Airlines. Road travel has got to be tough. I saw him hop into the tour bus at the end of the night. No matter how nice the bus could be, it has got to suck to travel this way. Speaking of tough, the security was initially pretty lax. As I mentioned earlier, many were able shift forward with little difficulty. However, there a few stage attempts (ones could not help themselves since the stage was only three feet up and unbarricaded. There was one boy who was whipped down by his neck. Another was thrown off the stage into the crowd. He was pissed off and went back on stage (which he should not have) and was wrestled down. This all occurred in front of a bare chested Moz. He smirked slightly at the chaos and was ushered backstage. Hopefully these young men are ok and sober now! All in all, it was a very entertaining night!!!

  • Moz was in FANTASTIC form last night. I was smitten when he walked on stage with his slate blue suit, periwinkle shirt, and bright striped tie. He looked and sounded amazing, and the band was great as well (dressed in what I would describe as "soda jerk" uniforms - cornflower blue pants, white shirts, and black bow ties). Quite chatty with the crowd as well. Highlights for me were Disappointed, I've Changed My Plea to Guilty (great lighting), and especially the performance of Life is a Pigsty/Auld Lang Syne/How Soon Is Now? Amazing. He seemed to be enjoying himself quite a bit, and we loved every minute of it. My only disappointment was that there weren't more people there to see this outstanding performance. Their loss, I suppose. Bravo to Moz and the boys!

  • I'm not one of the two giggling girls who said they were going to have a baby together. He gave me the microphone second and I said something to the effect of "Thank you for 20 years of music and being the soundtrack to my life. I love you." I honestly don't remember exactly what I said, except that ton of people high-fived me as I went back to my seat (after security sent me away) and the stranger sitting next to me said, "You said it for all of us." That was nice.

I got to shake his hand briefly later on. What an amazing concert. And I'm so glad I finally got to thank Morrissey in person for his music. It's meant so much to me over the years.

Everyone around me (8th row from the front on Boz's side) had a great time, except for the crashing bore of a boyfriend standing quietly all night next to that charming young woman in the aisle. Oh, and I hope the guy kicked out by security after he punched a female fan a few rows in front of me spent a little quality time in a Cleveland jail last night.

What more can I say, I was in the front few rows and I felt like I was in heaven! The band was great- everything was like a dream. I only wished I could have been one of the lucky ones to get close enough to shake his hand... oh well maybe next time! Lets hope there is another one really soon.. I will certainly go through withdrawl otherwise. VIVA MOZ!!!!

    Anonymous -- Friday May 18 2007, @10:01AM (#258754)
  • So the dialogue with the two lesbians (that caught the first shirt)in the front row actually went like this -

    THEM: "She's Pregnant! We're having a baby!"
    MOZ: "You two?"
    THEM: "YESSSS!"
    MOZ: "And the daddy is...?"
    THEM: "Artificial Insemination!"
MOZ: "Well, that's the way to do it if you've got to do it."

They (and all of us in the first 3 center rows) had an amazing show and everyone around me got drumsticks, picks and setlists. And of course, the red shirt went to the guy right behind me and the blue shirt went to the aforementioned ladies. I had been thinking that I'd go buy a concert shirt afterward. Then I thought, crap that's $40 for an $8 shirt and the designs are really not that cool this tour. Maybe I'll offer one of the girls money for the Moz shirt. So after the show, I politely tapped one of them on the elbow and offered her $100 for the shirt. In my mind I was rationalizing that I was doing their baby a favor. I figured if she said no - I'd still have a funny story. If she said yes...I'd have a funny story and Moz's shirt!
    So she says:
    "No way!"
    then a second later says:
    "Wait, are you serious?"
    I say yes.
    "Okay, I'll do it! No - $150!"
I say - sorry, all I've got left to burn on a sweat-stained shirt that just came off my hero is $100 tonight"
    She says "oh okay."

    So I got the shirt.
It's a Dolce & Gabbanna custom tailored Italian shirt. size 43/17 and it smells like Moz's cologne! Which I am now desperately trying to determine what it is before the scent wears off.

I was accosted 4 times on the way out of the theater about the shirt.

The ride back to Pittsburgh smelled GREAT! Best show ever.

  • When he asked the last time he'd been to Cleveland...he said "so, Cleveland...Cleveland...how long has it been..." she said she didnt know...then she said..."Lakewood"...when he played the high school gym...during Maladjusted tour...no wonder he hasnt been back since...to which he quipped back "Wrong".

Then her companion said 7 years ago..."and there was another time before that"...which was at the Nautica in 1992

The bit with the pregant lesbians...he looked at a burly dude crowding towards them and asked if they were "all together" and then handed the mike to the one who said she was expecting in January.

About the touring by bus he said stated anyone who was an airline passenger these days "makes you guilty".

I noticed quite a bit of ad-libbing in different songs...a few times he stopped and coughed and I never once saw he seek out liquid...which I thought was pretty amazing. Um...during "Ganglord", there were a few lyric changes...locally, there have been three incidents with police chases and just during the day yesterday...one which landed a suspected sex predator under the porch of a house. It was all over the local stations all day. But anyway...i could have sworn he sang the line "Get your black ass back to the ghetto" at least once.

I have to agree, the show was amazing...there was quite a bit of problems with the sound and "The Queen is Dead" was a horrible muddy mess for most of the song. (Front row loge seats just off center). At one point i ran into the john and it sounded fantastic at the urinal. Once the techies got the sound right, it sounded fantastic...although Boz had a few technical problems a few times.

Best version of "How Soon is Now" that I've heard yet...Matt Walker pounded the crap out of the field drum. Moz laid out on his back with legs up in front of the kit during this one. And he lay in fetal position during another number later on...

I was a bit disappointed that there werent any featured playing moments by the band; they were quite solid...only heard a breakdown once in timing.

Um...invaders...not too many...although one the last encore "Please Please Let Me Have Who I Want" :\...a few jumped up but security quickly rushed Moz off stage.

What the hell were they thinking with the opening act...OMG...she cleared out the room...everyone went out in the foyer...her bi-polar caterwauling was interjected with sardonic quips about "not trying to make her feel better because she was determined to feel bad"...to which someone shouted "you sound even worse"...to be fair...the sound system SUCKED big time for her, and she complained at least once about not being able to hear herself...but still...

I was surprised at the non-chalantness when Moz mentioned not having a record contract. He was very gregarious - passing the mike out to the crowd and chatting...shaking hands, bowing, looking all coy when someone indicated that they wanted his hand.

The crowd was pretty receptive...and spotted quite a few celebs/rockers around.

Wondered if Moz had spent the day with spray paint in hand over at the Princess Di exhibit at Western Reserve. I saw no indication of gold or silver flicks on his person however. :D

Um....no Suedehead...and i checked out the soundboard...it looked like they were recording the event. Anyone see any cameras around?

    Okay...think that's all i can manage for now...fantastic show :D

  • So I have to say as a life long New Yorker but someone who has lived in Cle for only a few years, I was quite surprised to see MOZ was coming to the city commonly called "the mistake on the lake." Reminds us of other seaside towns? This was my 9th Morrissey concert, since '92 and I have to say it certainly was one of my favorites. The fact that he played NFD, The Boy with the Thorn, and You're Gonna Need was truly a treat. What was equally pleasing was the elegant venue and how into Moz the crowd was. Not as frenetic as the '90s but the air was adoration nostalgia. After all these years I finally had a chance to shake the man's hands...not once but twice, made it on stage but got off really quickly before the butchers got me and got a guitar pick (not bad for 35). My wife was pleased. Now off to Columbus. Only regret I see is the deplorable conduct some of the members of this site comport themselves and the lack of moderation that exists on this site. And I thought we were all so glad to grow older..to move away from those younger years...off to columbus. hope to see more of a sense of community on this site. Cheers

The crowd was very laid back and polite - and welcoming of me when I just couldn't stand being in row HH and had to make my way to the front during How Soon in Now and for the encore. I want to thank the woman with the short red hair who saw me hesitating and said "I'm with you". I could tell you were very moved to see Morrissey that close. My instincts paid off. He reached for my hand during please, please, please. A firm handshake (I could feel his rings!) was all I needed to make the man I have idolized real. I went home with 2 guitar picks and a happy heart. Thank you Cleveland. I would do it again in a second.

  • This was my first time seeing Morrissey, and it was amazing. I traveled from Pittsburgh to see him in Cleveland, and had a great day of it. Our seats weren't that bad, but not really good. Sometime near the end we snuck up to the front. Some girl was dancing wildy in front of us and we couldn't see too much from where we had been anyway. I got very close to the Moz himself, but didn't get to touch him. :( I could have if I'd run up at the last minute, but somehow I held myself back. I must say, Morrissey looks great and sounds even better! He really put on the best show I could have asked for. When the band came out to throw drumsticks and such, my girlfriend dove under a seat to get me a guitar pick, which no one else in the area seemed to be concerned with finding! So now I have a lovely souvenir from my first Moz show! I can't wait to see him again, and I plan on hitting another show along this tour! Thanks for being so you, Morrissey!
