  • It would be so good to read that he has played 'you've got everything now' or 'these things take time', and then, a few days after, to get a soundcheck-quality bootleg of that.

  • just got back to the hotel. same old set list. met up with corrissey, pregs, and julie which was awesome! had to leave to during the encore (fotgtd of course) because my girlfriend felt really sick. morrissey was a little talky at first but then quieted up a bit as the show progressed. more details forthcoming.

i was going to transcribe the set list but i just checked the columbus one and i think it's exactly the same. a few things might have been moved around but pretty much the same. set was pretty boring, honestly.

  • An enjoyable show, on par with the reports from earlier performances of the Refusal tour.

The set list had no surprises and consisted of all the same tracks you have seen reported here previously. Highlights for me were "Ask" and "Seasick Yet Still Docked."

A few attempted stage invaders towards the end of the encore, but no successful attempts. I don't think I've seen anyone make the stage at a Morrissey show at the Rave before. I've been to see Moz before in Milwaukee and, surprisingly, there was a larger than usual crowd tonight, but more subdued.

Moz was chatty, with many shirt changes. He said, "Hello Milsqaukee" to begin the night and later said, "Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay...well, no one lives in Green Bay." I was in the balcony and looked down to see a small group of people, perhaps from the Green Bay area, look simultaneous at each other with shocked faces.

At one point, Moz held up a crowd banner that read "We are your thoughts." Earlier, a fan held up a sign "Morrissey for Mayor," which even had a website www.morrisseyformayor.com. This seemed rather strange to me, though spring elections in Wisconsin often feature mayoral races (Milwaukee does not have one this spring).

As we have read before, Morrissey's voice is in fine order on the tour, but the set list does not have all the energy of the best previous tours. There are high notes, don't get me wrong, and the set is very tight. But, put this tour next to something you'd see on "Live in Dallas" and you would know what I mean. There's some urgency missing from the performance. In those solo days, there was something there that isn't there now. One person, as I walked out, noted to a friend, "that was the guy that used to sing those songs." Maybe that sums it up, I thought to myself. I followed the milling crowd into the street, staring at the back of a middle aged man's neck tattooed with MOZ in big black letters.

  • This is my hometown, and it's been five years since I last saw Morrissey here. Fortunately a few kind souls from the last show met up with me this time around and it was great to see that they were all still well and following Moz! :)

Sadly, the crowd itself disappointed me this show. During the Courteeners everyone stood still as if their feet were planted to the floor--I saw more love for DD and he doesn't even play music that has the feel of Moz's sorta like these Manchester boys seem to have. I was shocked and disappointed--I was VERY happy when I learned the Courteeners were opening and was half as excited for them as I was for Moz. So seeing the crowd not feeling it both surprised me and let me down a bit--and it seemed clear the boys noticed it too. But, hell, I suppose all opening bands experience those shows once or twice.

Then Morrissey made it up to stage and the crush began. I was for the most part right in front, one person ahead of me, & within seconds we were madly squished. When fans so much as tried to lift an arm towards Moz, the security shot them down and were sorta nasty about it. Quite a few unruly types (can't believe someone said this crowd was TAME) were so violent in their attempts to get toward the front that they hurt some people near me--including almost knocking over the poor nine year old Moz fan that was their with her parents. I know that we Morrissey fans can get fanatic--but I feel like I was at a football match or something a few times there!

Now, I hate to be so negative so that's enough of that. This is a Moz show after all!! It was, of course, a wonderful experience. I'm always really impressed by Moz's band and these new additions have really added to the whole experience. Not that the staples weren't as amazing as per! It was fun to see Boz and Jesse up there--especially Boz who was utterly pleasant when I met him (or when any fan meets him, really) a few years ago. He always seems to have a lot of fun performing, and it showed tonight 100%. Jesse's guitar playing just...BLEW me away. As if there is no effort to the craft at all to him. BLEW me away. No other words for it.

The new (to me) bass player is absolutely delicious and fun to watch. I couldn't keep my eyes off him & when he brought out the big bass and rocked out with it right in front of us I couldn't stop cheering!

And Morrissey himself? While it didn't seem like he connected with the audience as much as he seemed to when I last saw him--he was as exquisite as ever. If not more so. I think we all know that even if ever chose to step up on stage and give 50% it would still be more than enough for us--not that he wouldn't give all for his fans. His voice was in top form and he really seemed to feel the music. I was SO PLEASED to hear a lot of the songs played--there were a few I thought I'd -never- hear live ((The Loop!!!)). That alone made this concert magical, despite some of the smaller problems encountered. Plus I got an autographed copy of the new album vinyl and got an autographed copy of the Courteeners Cd (which I already had, but hello signed! digital camera phones with people standing next to their fav rockstars be damned--give me an old fashioned autograph any damn day!)

Cheers to Moz & cheers to everyone that made this night as amazing as it was. Can't wait for the next visit!!!! ((PLEASE let there be a next visit Morrissey 3 ))

  • What was going on with Morrissey leaving in the middle of that song? I saw that he came back out with a new shirt, but it was at the expense of the great climax of that song.

    Great show anyway!

  • Quotes

    "Hello Milsquaukee"

"Welcome to our jamboree of incredibly hostile songs"

"This is how I earn my living. Some people they smoke, and smoke and smoke"

"It's a Friday night and you could be anywhere. Why are you here? (Hands mic to audience)
"We're here because we love you." "You are so hot"

"Rockford, Madison Green Bay? I'm certain nobody lives in Green Bay"

    Lyric Changes:

    Charming-"the pleather runs..."

Billy Budd-"If it meant you could be three" "It's been thirty years on"

How Soon-"that can actually stand you" "Just like you always do"

2 shirts to the audience Early stage diver tried to stage left. 5 or so attempts made during "Gang" encore.
Morrissey exited in the back about 30 minutes after the show and headed off to Chicago.

Strong performance. Weak set. HSIN was the best I've heard live. Morrissey was upbeat and his vocals were amazing. Best Friend on The Payroll was slightly unrecognizable. Audience seemed to have no clue about Keep Mine Hidden. Seasick was lovely.

  • i'm still reeling. so many songs i thought i'd never get to hear live (billy budd, best friend on the payroll, seasick, the loop, ask, plus all my favorites from the new album). the highlight for me was the loop. seasick was amazing. i liked the "reworking" of ask. my only complaint was the somewhat tame version of paris. i really wanted to hear him belt that one out. this was my fourth time seeing moz and i'd have to say it was by far my favorite.

  • Well this was my 9th Moz concert and I was bound and determined to finally touch the man...he has teased me in the past, but I have never shook his hand. Here he was in my hometown, and I had to go for it. I stayed quite a ways back for most of the show, but made my way to the front by the time the regular set ended. After one attempt to reach out to him early on during the encore, he came towards me, and I screamed and reached out...YES! He shook my hand firmly for a good second, and I couldn't believe it. I am a singer, and he is a HUGE inspiration to me, it just meant so much to me. Well...I got greedy about a minute later and decided to attempt to get on stage. I saw security each move to the side for a second and I thought i had an opening...Made it just to the front edge and was caught mid-air by burly security as I reached for Moz. 2 security thugs proceded to punch me in the ribs and call me a motherfucker all the way as they dragged me to the side. Completely unnecessary roughness given that I am 150 lbs and was not resisting...but The Rave/Eagles is known for thug security, so not suprising. I believe one rib is either cracked or severely bruised. I wonder if they ever get sued there...Regardless, well worth it.
The show itself was great. The crowd was HUGE! For some reason, Milwaukee always turns out big time for Morrissey...we can be proud of that. The master's voice is in top form, truly amazing. He is singing better than ever at 49! The band sounds TIGHT!!! Jesse did a cool arpeggio thing during the outro of Seasick that was new and really beautiful. One of the best nights of my life and I will never forget it. I've not washed my right hand yet...
A friend of mine supposedly caught both my handshake and stage attempt on video...I'll post when he sends it. If you watch the one already on YouTube, that's me at about 2:58 trying for the stage, ha.

Me and my friend realized that the rockers from the 70's and 80's have such great stage presence and know how to work a crowd. Anyway, thought the concert was good. Really enjoyed him.

If you'd ever like to talk about this and get educated, feel free to contact me Stephen. Else - carry on. You're just making yourself look like an ignorant twat.

It seems you have no issue with the American path and presence. Local or global. You're fine with the USA, but the Inuit seal hunt is a big issue.

Loved the show! I was disappointed in the audience members who stood with their arms crossed like they were undercover security...hey, go to the Kid Rock show if you don't appreciate the greatest music artist to have lived!

Anyhow, Morrissey was super...gotta be honest and say I would have preferred less songs from YOR, but hey it's cool, he was promoting the album!
