This was terrible. This is Vegas Morrissey going through the motions. He's overweight, everything is slow and its like bad karaoke.
Its the quietest Ive seen a Belfast crowd at a gig. I thought the show was really bland, the backing band are awful, no charisma.
I'm sorry thats how I feel, I'm a big fan, saw The Smiths play Belfast three time in my youth, this was his pension fund tour. I was really disappointed as was everyone around me
Best show.... (Score:1)
It was a fairly quiet crowd though.
The acoustics in the Waterfront are world class, so the band and Moz sounded phenomenal. That said, its mostly seated (only tickets I could get were seated) and the staff wouldn't let you stand in the seated area, hence why the crowd 'appeared' so subdued.
Played my favourite song from 4 different albums
Let Me Kiss You
Seasick, Yet Still Docked
Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself
Best Friend On The Payroll
The 'Smiths' songs were a wee bit disappointing, it did sound like he was going through the motions on Ask, Some Girls, Girlfriend In A Coma.
Though the usual lyric changes never fail to impress
How Soon Is Now...."Could meet somebody, who can actually stand you"
"so you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, WHATTTTTT, Big surprise!"
Compared Chatsworth Estate to heaven.
Said Boz was standing in the halflight, so English.
Blah blah blah, I'm babbling now. Superb show.
One thing that surprised me, was how Quarry heavy it was....
Crashing Bores

The band are ripping up the stage, agilely using the space, handling their instruments expertly. Matt Walker does a mesmerising imitation of a Kodo drummer at the end of How Soon is Now. The YoR singles trigger mass singalongs, as do most of the older hits. Morrissey sarcastically wished 'good luck' to anyone looking to purchase the songs in the stores. They are stocked in Dublin at least. When the microphone was passed to the audience, a man thanked Morrissey for 'saving us from so much bad music'. Naturally this seemed to hit the spot. Morrissey said 'thank God I have my rosary beads' at some point, probably jokingly in response to behaviour observed?
He is of course very widely, very much, loved. The few detractors may be loud, but they are very wrong. Each of them is one in thousands. Every day he is having the last laugh and winning more appreciation for being a source of inspiration, 'very near, everywhere...roosting in the mind.' He smiled warmly while shaking the hand of a genuine teenage boy at the barrier. The truth is more in the living than the telling.
Let's hope that the trip to Ireland was somewhere near as worthwhile and joyful for Morrissey and his entourage as for the punters. He leaves behind emotions to be reflected in tranquility - or even in turbulence that some of us might be facing: lip-smacking revelations abeting wishes for more; self-validation. Away with them now to Robbie Burn and Gordon Brown country; may the road rise to meet them, and hearts be made merry and stronger by their louder-than-bombs troubadouring!

Omagh and Belfast What a weekend!!!! (Score:2, Interesting)
Right up the front for the Omagh gig and "after all this time" finally got a handshake from Moz and was delighted. Really enjoyed the concert and the band were excellent. Mr Pooley gets a lot of stick on here but his playing was faultless to tis ear
Back to the hotel and the residents bar Jesse joined us for a few drinks and a bit of a singsong. Gavin from These Charming Men was with us and he had his guitar.I cannot say enough about how pleasant and friendly Jesse was. Great company and full just a decent down to earth bloke.
Belfast was a much more intense show. I was very near the "idiot" that some people posted about earlier. He was very annoying and loud. Managed to get another hand shake from Moz during the encore and Jesse gave me the signed setlist at the end. Truely a fantastic weekend and one I wont forget for quite a long time.
BTW Dolls and the Kicks were very good and the lead singer is indeed a doll. Absolutly gorgous.

Morrissey by numbers (Score:1)
I thought the venue was intimate; where even the smallest of us could at least get a glimpse. The fans I thought to be tame; little dancing, non existent crowd surcharges and one - possibly two attempts at individual stage invasion. Polite folk and incredibly friendly but sadly for me there seemed to be only muted enthusiasm.
Morrissey to me was lacklustre and only nearing the end did he seem to connect with those at the front. The turgid reworking of opener This Charming Man horrified me and the tone was set. This, for me was Morrissey by numbers and Morrissey at times seemed to be looking for his abacus. He has been worse but oh! he has been so much better. I can only hope that the Stirling gig allows him to blow away some cobwebs.
Oh a little warning - the voice was croaky in places but expertly hidden by a slew of la la las and other filler (which he is amazing at). I just hope that this does not mean cancellations for any of the other uk dates.
