Setlist same as Stirling etc.
Fantastic atmosphere as expected and Moz loved it - he loves Glasogw and Glasgow loves him! Much more lively than Stirling and lots more "Morrissey" chanting which was lovely.
One proper stage invasion right at the end, he got to hug him and the crowd were delighted...
Amazing, he looked sweaty, happy and lovely - fantastic evening!!!

Moz in fine form. Boz looked happier, too and was right into it.
A few quotes (though I may be paraphrasing):
"Glaswegians needing water? Surely not..." "It was hot in there)
"You may have noticed a bad smell. It's not me; someone let off a stink bomb." (There was a horrendous smell before Moz came on, smelled like a bad fart for ages. Black Cloud, indeed.)
"What are the going to do with me..? [referring to the band]...nothing." before launching into a song.
Much much more but can't remember right now. Too excited. Lookin forward to tomorrow.

Morrissey looked and sounded great. No voice problems tonight. He appeared happy and relaxed, having a laugh and I think enjoyed it as much as the crowd did. All the songs from Refusal went down well. I don't think there was a single song that brought the atmosphere down. This band are good. They take a lot of flack, undeservedly in my mind. Matt walker is fantastic and brings How Soon is Now to a different level altogether. The Loop was another highlight, very energetic with the whole band in front of stage. Boz dancing like a young thing! A surprise highlight was skull, everybody knew the song and sang along. Morrissey said "You may not have noticed but this was released this week".
A funny moment when he drew his arm back to throw the shirt and someone in the crowd threw a shirt at him, almost knocking his shirt from his hand. After the shirt throw he said "I'll have you know that shirt was very expensive. In fact Asda have stopped making them".
Lots more chat. No surprises song-wise. Doesn't matter. He obviously enjoyed being there and we loved having him.

Whilst one could hold reservations about the produce sold there, I mean who wants mouldy old jumpers or knocked off counterfeit goods, however the venue above is without parallel in Glasgow, certainly since the bulldozers nudged the Apollo along in its inevitable journey of self destruction.
Tonight promised to be something special, with His Holiness visiting for the first time in almost seven years.
Things got off to a great start particularly as the low ceiling meant the slightly garish backdrop was mostly obscured. At Stirling I did think for a second I’d accidentally gone to the wrong venue and some low rent Erasure tribute band would take the stage.
Culling the still from Fassbinder’s ‘Querelle’ could be a statement of intent, but I just think it looks a bit naff. Also, maybe the intro film could be updated, although I do like the New York Dolls and Shocking Blue have a certain charm, but haven’t we heard them all before a few times in previous tours.
‘This Charming Man’ certainly stirs the blood even if it lacks the Marr jangle factor. On the whole the up-tempo rumble of the set makes for a good gig although after Stirling I hoped they might shake it up a bit.
The Beloved Leader did seem more chatty than the other night, no doubt feeling at home in the Barrowlands. Could it be that he rarely gets to play in the stalking grounds of an as yet unsolved series of serial murders? Leaving Bible John momentarily aside and the stink bombs. (If they were indeed that, given there were a few ripe individuals in the audience. One drawback of the smoking band is one really can ‘hear the roar of the greasepaint and smell the crowd.)
One could have been mistaken at one point that Bible John had returned when a girl near me seemed to be on the receiving end of the unwanted attentions of some random groper. By the time I’d realised what was happening or what I perceived to be happening the odious individual had been ushered away by public spirited fans.
There is really no need for such things.
As with all big-ish gigs, there will be an element of the unsavoury in the crowd and I can’t help thinking, why go. Particularly when the West of Scotland is prime territory for finding a fight or aggro almost anywhere without paying over thirty quid for the pleasure of ruining someone else’s night. But I guess that’s the point.
Which given almost all of Morrissey’s canon of work (in the main) rallies against ‘The Ordinary Boys’, makes less sense.
I’m presuming, as I noted earlier that the set was pretty much as the Stirling model, that the touring is maybe telling on Yer Man, perhaps tomorrow night will be different. I hope so but I’ll never know, as I’m not going as I have a previous engagement. Nevertheless some nice Smiths moments in ‘I Keep Mine Hidden’ and ‘Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others’. The new stuff fitted in well too, particularly ‘When I Last Spoke To Carol’which I must admit I’m rather fond of. The song that is. Although, I haven’t actually spoken to my friend Carol for some time, which given I was at the Barrowlands, is quite ironic.
As the gig drew to a close, crowd surfing commando units tried to break-out and storm the stage. This somewhat disconcerted a young turk next to me who seemed to hold every undulation of the crowd as my doing. Whilst I like to sometimes (drunkenly) claim I have Derren Brown-esque powers of crowd control, I was blameless on this occasion. I suggest a trip to the ‘Barras Boot’ camp for the young uns. It’s character building. Christ know how he would have fared at the moonstomp Olympics that was The Specials at the O2 Crapademy last week.
One lucky whippersnapper made it to the stage, albeit through an assist from Moz’s hulking minder. You know the one, enormous and possibly Samoan or thereabouts. His Majesty seemed to tip him a wink beforehand, so then the ‘Would you like to swing upon a star’ corruption of ‘First of the G

Good gig, the atmosphere at the Barras is great, better than the previous gigs Ive been at. Setlist was a little strange, I like all the songs but it could've been better, not complaining though, the gig was good.
This Charming Man was a good opener, although its not a patch on the original, the song is totally changed, and not really for the better (how can you better it?). Some Girls was a let down, didnt sound anything like the original and should be left out in my opinion. A shame because I love the song. Highlights were Irish Blood, Skull, The Loop and ofcourse First of The Gang To Die. Though for me the most stunning part of the night was Seasick, Yet Still Docked. how can anybody say didn't seem to go down too well, how can so many fans not know this? i think carol should either be dropped or get the wretched Kristopher Pooley to f@ck!
Finally, whats the script with the whole bing crosby tune during first of the gang? it totally ruins the encore cos you stop singin so you can try and hear whats he's singin and the song just loses its momentum!
All being said, can't wait for tonight, hoping for a couple of alterations seeing as it's his 2nd night at the same venue, but i'm not holding my breath! gonna get proper bolero and hit the barrier. I WILL GET A HANDSHAKE TONIGHT!!!

I saw The Smiths at the Barras in 1985 as an 18-year old kid, and 1986 (both with my brother, who was also there last night), and Morrissey there in 1992, 1995, 1999, and last night. For those of you out there who have never experienced this venue, it is the be-all-and-end-all of concert venues. Raucous, riotious, sweaty, enclosed, bouncing. For our friends in the States, it's a former ballroom on the upper floor of a rather dilapidated looking building in the east end of Glasgow, one of the few remaining venues in the UK with a 'sprung' dancefloor, meaning that the place literally 'bounces'. At the gig in '85 the security people had to pull people from the crowd and throw water over the front rows, it was that crazy. Check it out on You Tube, it's the 'Hand in Glove' clip from The Tube with Margi Clarke, that'll give you an idea.
Morrissey has rarely been better. As someone said above, Boz was smiling, and spent a lot of the time right at the front, almost over our heads. The gig passed in a flash, the atmosphere wasn't unlike a football (soccer) match, absolutely buzzing. It clearly rubbed off on Mozza, who appears to thrive on this venue. I left the place with a wide grin on my face, feeling very uplifted, what with all the other shit I'm going through at this point in my life. Even one event like that once every ten years would suffice.
Two things- Many thanks to the quite attractive petite girl who clung to me in the latter stages, and indeed let me cling to her- I'm 5 foot five, 42, bald and slightly built, she might remember! Morrissey gigs sometimes produce these moments! Secondly, and also in that respect, no thanks at all to the 6 foot bastard (there's always one, isn't there...) stood right in front of me, who steadfastly refused, even when I pleaded with him, to let me past him to try and get to the stage for my long-awaited (25 years) attempt at a stage invasion. The arsehole could have stood at the back and still got the same view, I was only five feet away from the stage, but he wasn't going to let me past him. He was like a defender in a basketball game. I can't understand that behaviour, once I was past him I would have been away, and it's not as if I would have blocked his view. I would have punched him, but the difference in size would have resulted in only one outcome. If I never see Morrissey again at this venue, I will find this guy's grave and spit on it. Bastard, thanks mate....

To my shame I had never been to Barrowlands before last night. I was a Glasgow Apollo girl of Stiff Little Fingers and Stranglers era but my mammy would never ever let me near 'The Barras'. So it was with some trepidation, at 46 years of age, finally entering the 'forbidden building'.
My god it smelled so bad and that was without the stink bomb, the ceiling looked as if it was about to fall on you and we were 2 floors up, fantastic!
I arrived at 7:45pm, later than I wanted to but I was able to get to the second row nae bother. Doll and the Kicks were very warmly received and as their last song belted out there was the usual slow build up of folk all buzzing.
Ok other folk have described the crowd and how it was jumping but for me they weren't just singing along with every song, they were absolutely passionate and delirious with emotion. This sounds silly and bizarre but I thought at the time 'I am with my own people here. They all know how I am feeling and I know how they are feeling, nothing else mattered for that time So emotional.
I loved the youngish girl who had a Morrissey tattoo on her back (her top was cut away so u could see it) I have wanted a Morrissey tattoo for years but at 46, just too old school to go for it but I was inspired by hers so I may well go for it.
As to Morrissey. I have never heard him sing better or look more sexier. God he IS sexy. To some people saying this was a 'colour by numbers' tour then I can say no way. He sings with as much passion and angst as ever and his current lyrics are still touching my heart, yes I have hammered many a smile too throughout my years.
Notes of contention.. Carol.... such a great song and potentially crowd pleasing ending but it just falls abs flat at the end.. We need Mikey and his horn even it was sometimes a bit off at least he tried!
Couple to the left of me seemed to be enjoying themselves but when Seasick...O MY GOD SEASICK! came on they humphed, rolled their eyes, and the girl turned around to her guy and made slashing motions on her wrist. What?
But Seasick was exquisite.
Miss Gary, but I loved the bass solo at the end of Sorry. It went on for ages but the crowd loved it. Well done Solomon who with his brother also gave new life to HSIN.
Morrissey is roughly the same age as me but after 90 mins of continuous jumping about, thank god for tanna lady pants lol, I was exhausted but he seemed still full of energy!
My last words are for Boz who like everyone says was enjoying himself so much. But do you know everytime he took to the front of the stage the crowd at his side were cheering and waving to him at every chance and he did hear and see it all.
So I am sitting here writing this when I really want to be back at the Barras, but unfortunately I cannot be there tonight.
I love you Morrissey x
