  • dropped All you need and Skull brought in crashing bores, let me kiss you and best friend on the payroll.

    Quotes

    "Welcome to hell"
"You're very gracious, patient and probably mad"

some good stage invasions during fotGtD

sweet little girls right down the front given the mike by Moz, he asked their names

Venue all seated which just doesn't suit the all out attack of the set; everyone standing apart from the balconies but it just seemed to take the energy out the show about halfway through

Boz went to the after party!

Rotterdam was blistering and Antwerp was also great. Give me a sweaty club over the theatre any day!

  • Moz was there, the audience were there, BUT did Morrissey deliver? It all works well when Morrissey is in a good mood, fairly chatty and interactive. He obviously likes having a few stage surfers and stage invaders....but not too many like in the olden days.

    I still Love him!

  • A memorable evening in a splendid venue. No backdrop though.
"Hello Belgique" I think were the opening words, which was very nice, but of course Antwerp is in the Flemish part of Belgium where Dutch (not French) is the first language, so "hello belgië" would have been more apt. He pronounced "Antwerpen" right a little later, so all is forgiven already.
Similar setlist, which I think is fantastic. Shame to miss Skull, but great to have Seasick.
What else? It was a theatre venue, but all those 'seated' were standing. Relatively easy to get to front from where I was. Plenty of handshakes. Nice big purple ring 3rd finger left hand. 1 person on stage during Find Out For Yourself. A few at First Of The Gang. 1 shirt at Kiss You.
From where I was standing, Moz in great mood - smiling in between songs.
20 signed albums available at the end. I got 4/20.
"I'm forever blowing bubbles" I recall him saying during the outro of one of the songs. If my recording turns out ok, I'll be able to reveal more.
And before the encore, something along the lines of "you've given us nothing but joy joy joy joy joy joy joy ... "

  • Finally got rid of my hangover. What a night. I was there together with a friend. And after Rotterdam this saturday this really was a treat.

Great show and the man seemed to enjoy himself. Just like his band of merry men.

Got a good long handshake, I had some problems letting go though. Later Moz handed me the mike and I asked him to sing Dagenham Dave or otherwise Tony the Pony... he smiled and moved on.

During FOTG I was the first of the gang get on to the stage. Which was just too easy. But getting onto the stage wasn't the hard part. Getting close to Moz with Arturo around is near impossible. Arturo (that big bald guy) immediately gave me a body check. And within seconds I found myself in the lobby.

    See you in Stockholm!

  • I was at the show last night and it was fab !!!
First morrissey gig, and I loved every minute, apart from the fact that the music was turned up waaaayyyy too loud and sometimes there was just this big roar the music drowned in.

I never saw such a response when he came on, and I never saw so many stage invaders.
Is this normal, beiing the first Moz gig I ever went to ?

Does he like it, ever commented on it lately, encourage it ? because he doesn't really seem to mind....

Apart from that I can't wait until the next time he comes around.

  • Great show!!!
    (although terribly decorated theater)

Made it to the front at the encore where i finally got to give him the two 7" vinyls of 'Might Joe' by Shocking Blue (which is also a pré show video)... A Dutch Band...
One was the original Dutch vinyl, the other an american version with another b-side...

He looked very keen and happy when he noticed my present. He kept it in front of him a long time (while singing).. and ofcourse i got a nice warm 'thank you' handshake...

you know, a handshake is one thing... but him really looking into your eyes while giving a handshake... ...* BLISS *...

Then some guy next to me gave him some Sacha Distel 7"s ...and at the end of the encore song (FOTGTD) he hold both 7"s against his breast...

Which ofcourse i thought was totally fucking brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a night!!!!!!!

  • It was a great show, and Morrissey did seem to have a very good time. I especially liked The Loop and how he really seemed to like being on that stage, with that crowd and his band, and banging the tambourine like mad.

Personally, I found the guitars to be quite too much. I don't know if the settings were not that good or if it just depended on my seat (behind the mixing desk) but it seemed to me that they generated indistinct noise. The Smiths songs were also stripped to the bones and it made them look... naked. I felt a bit bad for "Some Girls are bigger than others" - it lost all its delicate, ironic subtlety. It was all very much in your face.

Morrissey's voice sounded good - very loud and present, no cracks and easily reaching for the higher register. There were the usual lyric changes, and the band and Moz himself really played a strong set. Better than at AB in Brussels for ROTT (2006). It's very heartwarming to see he really gives everything he's got inside of him.

Moz got some nice gifts (7 inch singles?), which he generously accepted. He shook a whole lot of hands as well.

Touching too to hear him say we gave him nothing less but joy joy joy joy joy joy joy.

Likewise, Morrissey! Please be back soon.

  • Boz and Jesse are always up for a quick round about the houses...

They showed up after the gig in the Elisabeth entrance hall... which gave me the chance to take my picture with them...

They both showed up at the after party at Kelly's Irish Pub, although they didn't stay very long....

Outside the hall i got to shake hands with Christopher as well...

BUT>>>>>>>>>> there is only one Morrissey...

I saw him sitting in the bus, but then the bus immediatly drove away..
The bus though had to stop at the traffic light, so i ran up to the front of the bus..

There he was..sitting in a comfy chair just putting a hanky between his shirt because he was going to eat...

I waved at him and gave him a couple of air-kisses with my hand....banging my fist to my heart and back to him.... he laughed about it, gave me a big smile...

I just couldn't believe i was actually kind of communicating with MOZ at some other point then on first row during a gig...

    *heavenly*
