The English Cybulsky in Warsaw (Score:0, Redundant)
“The promotional video for [November spawned a Monster] filmed by Tim Broad at Mushroom Rock, in the remote sun-scorched Death Valley, remains the finest piece of Morrissey’s work ever captured on celluloid. Wearing a black diaphanous top, neither shirt nor blouse, he is the epitome of narcissism, homoeroticism, pain, anguish, and muscular male beauty – yet despite his writhing and preening never seems to go over the top. On the Continent, favourable comparisons were made between this vignette of vignettes and the death throes of the young Resistance fighter in the famous Wajda film of 1958 ‘Ashes and Diamonds’, no little wonder for its star Zbigneiv Cybulsky was regarded as the ‘Polish James Dean’. Indeed, when the Morrissey film was premiered on Warsaw television in the autumn of 1990, he was introduced as the ‘English Cybulsky’…” From ‘Morrissey: The Scandal and the Passion’ by David Bret

Btw as you all probably know, Joy Division from Salford, Manchester, originally called themselves ‘Warsaw’, in homage to a song of that title by David Bowie. Tonight in the Palladium a musical icon sings in a city of great symbolic import. So, tell us more…

Firstly, the show took place at Stodola, not at Palladium, as it was announced at first.

The show was really, really great. Morrissey seemed to enjoy it very much. He introduced "The World Is Full of Crashing Bores" with "And before this song, I won't say anything about Michael Jackson" (or something like that, look up what he said the night before in Riga and you'll know what the hell's going on). The audience also gave him a very, very long applause after "Girlfriend in a Coma", which he tried to stop by saying "No...no more applauds, please, let me die unhappily...". It was a great pleasure to hear such words from him. He also gave the microphone to the audience once, advicing to "Be nice".

While during the band intro, he introduced himself with "and I'm taking singing lessons".

All in all, I'm very satisfied with tonight's show, especially by the very warm welcome given to Morrissey by the Polish audience and his visible satisfaction.

It was a great pity that security immediately took everything that was thrown on the stage. Oh, well.

Oh, and BTW, the setlist provided by 'Anonymous' is correct.
