  • Great Show.

I will be posting pictures in the next day or so; so check back if you want to see them.

Melinda, I got a great shot of the item that you gave Morrissey.

  • Wow. What a show. The first of 4 I'll be seeing on this tour and I don't think he can top tonight. I want to start by saying doll & the kicks were fantastic and may very well be famous sometime soon.
Moz was in top form. He looks great and fit and didn't seem too winded until the last few songs. He opened with this charming man, a rougher more rock version. I prefer marrs way but it was fun to see none the less. He did ask in a strange more modern version also which again, I don't prefer over marr. The set was his sets in Europe but no first of the
gang which I found odd. I suspect that he planned on closing
with it but something irked him perhaps the multiple fans who
hopped on stage. He seemed quite bored playing how soon is
now and most into world is full of crashing bores. Can not

Exact same songs as Dublin, slightly different order.

Morrissey looked and sounded superb! Even better than when I saw him earlier this year.

He gave a shout out to YouTube again. It was silly! He talked about "ThanksKilling" saying how the turkeys people eat are 8% antibiotics.

Many stage invasion attempts! A girl got on during I'm OK By Myself. They shared a nice hug and Morrissey danced her to the side of the stage! It was very sweet :)

My friend thinks that that same girl or the guy she was with caught his shirt! Must have been a surreal night for her.

The encore is kind of a blur to me. I think someone made it on stage toward the beginning. There was no barrier between the pit and the stage, but there was one between the seating and the pit. I was the first to make it over the barrier then hopped on the empty pit seats to the stage and as jumped half way up and as I was attempting to pull myself the rest of the way security grabbed me then pushed me down over a step and when I got up and tried to get away (toward my seat, not the stage!) I was grabbed and hit or elbowed in the gut! Horrible. While all of this was happening, about ten people were attempting to get onto the stage. Security were very violent and after the show they were all high-fiving eachother. Completely pathetic that these monsters get joy in hurting others.

On another negative note - a nice man got kicked out of the for throwing flowers. Just 20-ish minutes into the concert. :(

Now to be a Positive Patty - Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself sounded better than ever with an actual accordion! That was the highlight of the show for me. The Loop was great as always!

Sorry this review is completely subjective!

Here are all of the songs he played, not in the right correct order:

This Charming Man / Black Cloud / When Last I Spoke To Carol / Is It Really So Strange? / Ganglord / I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris / Ask / Irish Blood, English Heart / One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell / Death At One's Elbow / Because Of My Poor Education / Cemetry Gates / The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores / Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself? / Teenage Dad On His Estate / How Soon Is Now? / The Loop / Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice / I'm OK By Myself // Something Is Squeezing My Skull

How many times in the past has Morrissey performed in a sea of flowers? No one ever got thrown out before. I can understand if a person is being rude, but flowers? Come one. Did Morrissey see this - did he know? It's never bothered him before. Maybe the security people were told to throw out anyone who attempted to throw anything on the stage, and they assumed that meant flowers too? It just doesn't sound like Morrissey, but then, maybe he really has changed that much.

I'm glad you're feeling better. Sorry they hurt you.

  • My wife has trouble believing that I actually saw Morrissey making his way into the Men's restroom before tonight's show, just as I was leaving it.

I was just about to walk out the door, but a knot of people slowed me down. In the middle of the knot was, I'm convinced, Mr. Morrissey himself, gently urging people forward.

'Why would he use a public restroom before a show?' my wife asked. I was quite surprised myself and wonder if anyone can confirm my story.

By the way, I LOVED the show.

  • Thank goodness the night went off without a hitch.

Great Thanks to Barky for posting the setlist. That looks about right to me. And Thanks to Barky, zodismycopilot and Anonymous' for also getting us started on how the night went. I've of course dozed off while writing, so there are probably other great updates as well by now.

Many highlights imho. Guess I'll just start from the beginning:
Doll and the Kicks really rocked it! The singer Hannah has a great range of voice (from a rough punk-rock belt like Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde, to a girlish nasal to a womanly lilt). The pinnacle for D&tK for me was the song "If You Care," where Hannah really belts out with her own voice unaffected and it rips your heart right out.

After their set, many folks came up to the singer in the lobby express their support. This was their first US date ever. It was cool to see that validation for the risk they took to come here. We appreciate it, Doll & The Kicks! If there was any thing that could be different, I would have wished for a slightly more modest yet still stylish wardrobe for Hannah. I found it slightly distracting from her beautiful voice and the band rockin' out. In any case, she's showing off the blessings of her youthful figure.

As far as Moz being in the lobby, I saw the guy, too, and thought , "it must be that lookalike, but whatever he did lately really makes him look even more like the real thing."

Intermission videos: can I just say how awesome these blurred old vhs videos from Moz are? I think all of us who are absolutely obsessed with music made at least a couple collections of random taped videos ourselves (mixed tapes in vhs!). So to delight in Moz's archive is like a mine of gold.

Moz's performance: Moz was in great spirits as was the band (dressed in black t-shirts and dark nearly-black jeans). He made many physical gestures indicating "Hug me now!" and seemed disappointed the crowd wasn't taking the bait. But people waited till the end and came up in droves at the encore, "Live in Dallas" style when he was stripping his shirt. It was pandemonium. The security was sparse but heavy-handed. So in the end they seemed a bit over-whelmed and Moz got a great many hugs and tugs in the end. (Earlier, he saved one guy from being roughed up stage left by going over and patting him on the back and gesturing to security to be okay with him.) The band rocked out a little more after the group maul broke free and Moz left. Then Sinatra's rendition of My Way came up on the sound system.

Song highlights: The new stuff (no particular order): Cemetry Gates, Is It Really So Strange, Death at One's Elbow, Teenage Dad (as my grandmother's former caregiver, the sentiment is much appreciated, though the generations skipped in my case so I basically resented everyone, younger and older, at the time!), Because of My Poor Education, Ganglord ("...get your fat ass back to the ghetto/get your scrawny ass back to the ghetto/get your reasonable ass back to the ghettoooo!"), Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice (love that upswing of the entire band on the offbeat), Ask (? this might have been a carryover from the Refusal setlists?). Refusal songs: One Day Good-bye Will be Farewell, I'm Okay by Myself, Carol, Paris, Skull, and the band entrance sequence seemed to be from that middle spacey part of You Were Good in Your Time. Moz Standards: This Charming Man (punchy, vibrant and strong. yeah, I think Moz prefers this version), IBEH, HSIN, The Loop. Loved it all! The band did a great job on the Smiths songs and there was no distortion for Cemetry Gates and Is It Really So Strange, so the notes were very clear and true to the original color.

The new keyboardist Gustav Manzur rocks. Really nice-sounding synth and also played the guitar (added flair to I forgot which song was very nice), harmonica and accordion to accompany. Also heard he's a really awesomely nice guy and a great addition to the band in general. Good Job, Gustav!

This is a shame that they haven't been added to the setlistan. Moz is more than capable of changing up the setlist. I saw him numerous times on the Greatest Hits tour and he changed things up more than what he's been doing this year.

6 Smiths songs in the setlist is nice but do we really need album filler like Death At One's Elbow?

I miss the setlist puns. Is it because Moz keeps running through new musicians that they don't stay long enough to understand his song title puns?
