A very trustworthy source close to Morrissey has expressed the following to Morrissey-solo:

"Morrissey has definitely NOT signed to Sanctuary, but has been approached by Rough Trade Records who are owned by Sanctuary. Morrissey still has no recording deal and remains open to any offers.

Dates which are 98% confirmed are: Salt Lake City "Fairpark" (Aug 1, Thurs), Colorado Springs "Music Hall" (Aug 3, Sat), Albuquerque "Sunshine Theater" (Aug 4, Sun), El Paso - venue unannounced (Aug 6, Tue), Tucson "Rialto" (Aug 7, Wed), Phoenix "Celebrity Hall" (Aug 9, Fri), Yuma "Convention Hall" (Aug 10, Sat)."

Update: 05/17 02:14 GMT: More tour dates may be coming.

    • He certainly has not. As you grow older and attend a few more concerts you will learn that NEVER are ALL dates for a tour released in one shot. This is simply due to the logistics of planning a Nation wide tour. Keep in mind that while you are booking the first half of a tour the dates are 2-3 months away but if you booked it all at one shot, the venues behind the second half of the tour would be booking at 3-4+ months in the future. Be patient. Moz sold out two nights back to back in Boston on the Oye Esteban tour. That's a sure shot for a return of the master to the Eastern board.

  • In November 1999 in an interview for The Face Morrissey might of either joked or even hinted that he was going to sign for Rough Trade. If I remember correctly a section of the interview went a bit like the following:

Interviewer: So you are, in fact, without a record deal
Morrissey: I've been on so many labels, I have no idea where I'll end up next. Rough Trade, probably.

At the time when I found out he had said that I took it as a joke but now a couple of years down the line Morrissey might of know that Rough Trade would approach him someday.

  • clearly these shows are a tune up for the august festival in japan. they all take place within the two weeks leading up to his trip to the far east. my guess is he is playing these five shows to get the group back in shape for the more important (at least monatarily) japan shows. don't despair, kids.... there has been ample evidence to suggest that a full tour will blossom later this year. as for the genius who said these dates prove how much moz loves latinos.... that is silly. of course he likes mexicans! everyone knows that. these dates are all in close proximity to southern california and that seems a more likely reason than an unbridled love affair with mexican culture.
