CONCERT REVIEW: Moody critic's darlings come to town
Morrissey, Coldplay delight fans with introspective songs

Morrissey: a critic's darling from Britain who is in decline. Supposedly.

Coldplay: a critic's darling from Britain that is on its way up. Maybe.

  • This article says nothing to me about my life...hang the blessed journalist. There is no one out there that can truly hold an opening act candle to or for our SPM. I am not sure about the decline that folks are referring to? Record deal or not...200k copies of Maladjusted sold and he is on the way out? For a man that has no structued corporate marketing machine or bubble gum, top 40 sycophants waving the banner of our hero, he does pretty well. I know that each opportunity we have to see our friend may be the last. So I would say to the setlist bashers and fair weather fans (journalists and other wankers)...bugger off! Looking forward to San Diego!

  • who are these moody critics?
I think he means "moody critical darlings", not "moody critic's darlings." Journalists really are some of the laziest people on earth.

I'm reading this as I'm listening to Coldplay's new album. Hmm. Anywho..

Morrissey is in no way, shape, or form, "declining" in his music career. If he was in a decline, when everyone said he was way back when, then he would've been a complete and utter thing of the past by now. But no. He's playing concerts. He's talking on the radio. He's going to be on Craig Kilborn. He's got tons of fans that adore him. Gees, if anything, I think he's moving up in the world!

Anyways, I'm throughly enjoying the Coldplay album. I love their previous album as well. A Rush of Blood to the Head is a very, very mature album. They definately are a talented bunch. Just my opinion, of course...

  • Coldplay! NO!!! (Score:2, Insightful)

If there's anything I truly loathe it must be the great glut of mediocre guitar bands that are ever so often lumped with The Smiths and Morrissey. For the record, take a look at the stuff our guy truly loves: Bowie, New York Dolls, Marc Bolan, punk rock, The Cramps, Buffy Marie-Sainte, etc. The list is endless. And then you have all these dowdy, tee-shirt wearing strum-merchants who have sweet fanny adams to say about sweet fuck all. Coldplay, Travis, Stereophonics...ugh!
