The following message comes from ASTRA, the promoter of the Athens shows of Moz, on the 5th and 6th of October... Listen to this: Earlier today, we received an e-mail from Moz's agent, informing us, that due to sudden illness in the "touring entourage" (????????), they regret to inform us that the two scheduled live gigs for tomorrow, 5th, and Sunday, 6th of October in Athens, and more specifically at our venue "Gagarin 205", will not happen!!! We know that many people are probably already on their way to Athens, to see Morrissey live, but we haven't got any means of communicating this sudden news to them, so, in case you have any friends travelling to Athens for the shows, we kindly ask you to inform them asap! Thank you in advance ASTRA Press Office --- An anonymous person also writes: In Dublin tonight Morrissey said the Athens shows were not going to happen. They are going straight on to Perth ... --- Mexcellent also writes: I just got a phone call (1:50 am PST on October 4th) from the ticket Vendor for the Greece shows. The lady (who didn't speak English very well) said that both shows have been cancelled because according to her "Mr Morrissey is feeling ill." That was all the information she had. --- Gozzer also writes: It was announced today that Morrissey cancelled his two gigs in Athens (5, 6 October at the Gagarin 205 club). The promoters that booked him (Astra) were circulating a press release, blaming the cancellation to "Morrissey being ill". Regardless to say that noone believes this story here. There is no information about the dates being rescheduled. --- Vassilis also writes: It has been officially announced that Moz's gigs in Athens have been postponed due to its illness.Concerts may take place in November or during the 2003 tour.

It is a bad habit to express an opinion over something, when you don't know the facts, dear friend.
I myself happen to be Moz's fun, so I'm truly disappointed by this sudden cancelation, not to mention that I also have to console those who have flown all the way to Athens, just to see their favorite artist live! (A few hours ago I helped Peter Melis from Brussels to find another flight back home, since his return ticket was issued for Tuesday morning! Such a shame!)
I wish Moz himself respected these people as much as we do.

On Monday, ASTRA will issue a press release, with our version of what REALLY happened.
In case we haven't yet expressed how we feel about this sudden development, well, we are absolutely shocked by the incident. Today we had to answer more than 100 telephone calls. It's such a shame Moz doesn't respect all these people, not only Greek funs, but also all those who are probably travelling this time we speak to Athens...

And he has admitted (since the court case ended of course) that he was told by Johnny early on the the life of the Smiths that he and Andy would have to accept a lower percentage than Moz and Johnny, if they wanted the Smiths to go on. Sadly it seems like this is a part of the package. We love it when Morrissey does whatever he feels like whenever he feels like, as long as it doesn't affect us personally. Like if he doesn't feel like accepting a record deal, he doesn't, and by that he's making a statement. If he doesn't feel like give an interview, he doesn't. One could think he should be perhaps more loyal to his fans, but come on, this is the way he is, and you all know it. We love his personality, he's just true to himself and taking control of his life. It's sad that it affects the ones who love him, but is a fact. I traveled to see him in Paris and I felt unsure whether or not the show was going to happen even the same day, you never know with Morrissey.
I feel for you I really do.

I recall driving three hrs once to see him and he frikkin' bailed an hr before the show was to start! I can't imagine how people flying to Sweden or wherever feel!
The last time I had tickets, he didn't even bother cancelling until show time. A girl walked by car in the parking lot and she just looked at me and said "Hope your not here for the Morrissey show because it just got cancelled."
