Last night (29 October) there was a charity concert in aid of the Make Trade Fair campaign at The Astoria, London. Artists on the bill included Ms Dynamite, Coldplay and Noel Gallagher - the latter duetting with Coldplay's Chris Martin on a few songs, including 'Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before'. Good choice! Chris Martin sang lead vocals and Noel did backing vocals although he messed up a few times on the chords. Let`s face it he`s no Johhny Marr.

What I am basically saying is that they have no right to cover a Smiths song as should both fuck off back to writing third rate witless tripe for thick people in their bedrooms.
So Morrissey is a sacred cow to alot of the people that read this page, and I speak for alot of people by saying this.

Re: Noel's no Marr, but Marr aint in Oasis.... (Score:0)
marr might be a technically better guitarist than noel (he's better than a lot of people & is my favorite guitarist) but it's true--marr hasnt done anything really important since the smiths. i LIKE his newest stuff, but i wouldnt say it's anything that's gonna make history. as far as guitar playing ability, noel may not be marr, but as far as anything else, noel is just as important and just as good a songwriter as marr.
Now if youre talking LYRICS, then youd be comparing Morrissey & Noel, not Marr & Noel.
and that's just a matter of opinion--people who only like angsty lyrics arent going to find much of that in oasis. on the other hand, if youve grown out of your teenage angst, or maybe if you just WANT to get out of it, then oasis are great for that. there are some great lyrics in oasis tunes if youre tired of being depressed and negative all the time. and im not talking about the silly songs that arent supposed to mean a thing ("Supersonic")or the songs about getting drunk...
