The 2002 tour which started in early August has come to an end. Thank you to everyone who sent in so much information for every single show, it was personally the most hectic but enjoyable 3 months I have been through. I know I have missed a few things along the way and will try to tie up some loose ends when I get the chance.

There are rumors of more touring next year and I will post as usual if I hear anything definite. As for a record deal - for a while during the tour I was getting reports of Morrissey being signed every other day, but nothing was ever really confirmed.

  • I think that without this Web site, most of us would be completely lost as to what's going on in the World of Morrissey. I know that I, for one, would never have been able to attend as many shows as I did on this tour or the 1999-2000 tour without the information that is posted here. This site has allowed many of us to be better Morrissey fans, and Morrissey himself should be grateful to David for helping all of us stay informed about his career.

  • Dear Morrissey,
We love you in New England. The last time you played in Boston (Oye Esteban tour) you played two back to back sold out shows. I was lucky enough to have seen you in Portland, Maine. So my request is that you come back to the New England area some time early next year. I watched every tour date come and go on this tour and it never came over here. My plans for flying to Vegas to see you at the HOB fell apart and I didn't see one show on this tour. I had even saved a weeks vacation up at work to follow you for a week on tour with friends when you came to NE. Please come back! Do I have to beg (because I will...ok I am).

  • David, I, in an impersonal way, want to personally thank you for all you do for the cause that is known as Morrissey... Morrissey, I'M POSITIVE, appreciates you as do us fans. Keep it up, forever! This is the best MOZ site and it always will be. Just a quick note: I can remember reading an off-beat Moz fanzine in 1995 and it was several months old by the time I was able to get my hands on it and I remember feeling left out and disappointed by reading old news. And so, I just really thank you for being the CNN of Morrissey news. You've quenched mine and others cravings, that of which we've needed. Or not needed, depending on what Morrissey does for you. Sometimes, I'm not so sure. Isn't obsession bliss?

    1. An hour before my first gig of the tour, sat in a Dublin bar grinning from ear-to-ear, finding the anticipation almost overwhelming.

    2. Holding onto Mozzer's hand from the pit during the encore at the same concert.

    3. The crowd response at Blackburn. And I'd thought the Bradford lot had given him a great reception.

    4. Morrissey grabbing my hand as I was lifted above the barriers at Blackburn. I was shouting his name out when he pointed towards himself whilst coming to the front of the stage. "Who, me?" he said. Classic!

    5. Bringing home a piece of shirt from the same gig.

    6. My wife going upstairs to listen to a Morrissey CD the day after only her second time of seeing him. She'd gone along a bit reluctantly but now she finds it hard to listen to anybody else.

    7. Moz-solo's fantastic coverage. Thanks to David and everyone who made it a little bit easier to get through that post-gig depression.

  • I'd like to give a very special thank you to Davidt, for keeping us all up to date with a fascinating tour. I was unable to make it to any of the concerts this time (because I live in Germany now, bit hopefully he'll come here next year. Please!!!), but felt very much involved and I'd just like to show my gratitude.

For the record I do not believe that Morrissey is rascist, but I am very, very interested to know what he really does think about the other races. All we have to go on are some ambiguous lyrics (Bengali, Asian Rut and NFD) and some extremely off the cuff comments going either way.

Morrissey, you are great. I have been a devoted fan of yours for fourteen years (since Viva Hate came out) and seen you live many times. Don't ever give up, there is no need to. As we can see from this tour interest in you and your music is as fervent as ever. Soon the detractors will be saying "the current tour is not as sucessful as the one in 2002" and "he has never recaptured the magic of The First in the Gang to Die"" etc ad infinitum. Just bear that in mind.

All my love to you and your fans.

  • How could they skip NYC! I followed this tour on your wonderful website for months to find that there is nothing said about a NY show....How many different fucking Arizona shows can they play or Cali for that fact - they may as well booked one in the desert 120 fucking degrees and played to the scorpion, monitor lizard, horned toad and the rest of our favorite desert critters.
After all NY has been through this year (not to mentioned a bad time for music in general) you would think naturally that a drop by appeasing the thousands of fans here, dying for some music we actually love would be in order - it's sickening. Not since my high school heartbreak of the postponing of the '92 Carnegie hall show for 3 months only to be ultimately cancelled all together with have I felt so cheated.
Granted there’s a slight possibility that they may start up a second leg I think that NY deserves at least one if not two shows.
My rant now is really fueled by disappointment if anything. No offence to the Desert and all of its fabulous creatures.
