The NME has a regular weekly feature where bands select 10 or so of their favourite songs for an 'ultimate compilation'. This week it's The Thrills who've included 'First Of The Gang To Die'. "we heard him play this on a talk show in the US. Can't wait for his new album - another classic no doubt."

Moz also gets a mention in the letters page where in a response to a letter about Nirvana, the journo writes: "Nirvana had a couple of good songs, but gimme Morrissey (and others), lyricists who underpin their misery with wit and perspective, rather than Nirvana's self-pity."

Just got back from that annual NME shindig where four new bands play thier way around the country. This year the players were The Datsuns, The Polyphonic Spree, Interpol and The Thrills (the support from the Albert Hall shows remember?). Despite being the bottom act, The Thrills totally blew the competition out of the water and stole the show. During The Datsuns set I was lucky enough to have a few words with Thrills guitarist. As I was wearing my Moz shirt, the conversation drifted on to him and he said how they were all massive fans. He touched upon the recent story in NME about them going for a drink and talked about how funny he is!!

if you get chance, go and see The Thrills. They are a brilliant live act, lovely people and i'm sure will one day become the stars they deserve to be!
