  • Nestled between Beck and Noel Gallagher. Hmm... Does this make him a "happy medium" between the two? :)

Anything is hard to find when you will not open your eyes.
  • God these polls are just horrible trash. People really shouldn't take them seriously. Like that "100 greatest rock vocals" one where Moz came in at 83, but the mere fact that Chris Cornell was number 3 shows how bad it was.

And this one, Britney Spears being 17th most powerful person in the music industry? Well .. maybe her manager, lyric writer, dance choriographer, publicist and make up artists would be kinda powerful, but not 17 and certainly not her herself.

Even Eminem for that matter, he's just like Britney, a little puppet ... I dunno what my point is, maybe that I need to go to bed, but one thing is for sure, these things are trash :P

  • These polls are nonsense. Hacks filling space for anally retentive boy-men to pore over.

  • This may be the same poll that appears in this month's Q magazine - Moz is at 77. But I wasn't expecting to see him in there at all - in what way is he a powerful figure? I don't mean this derogatarily as obviously he is to some a major ARTISTIC influence, but this is the man who eschewed the record business for seven years and who pretty much seems to loathe its machinery! Maybe he's got some sway at Sanctuary after the sales of Quarry, but overall I thought it bizarre that a mean who has as little to do with the actual 'industry' of music making as possible should be thought to exert much power in the business. Not that it matters - the further away he is from the 'mainstream' of the record industry infrastructure the better IMO! The one power he does seem to exercise frequently is that of veto - telling those companies who offered him an unsatisfactory record deal to fuck off!

  • A more relavent poll would be, which record labels are the most powerful?

This list is utterly useless, as I said in the forum.

  • 17 random opinions certainly do not equate for a poll such as this, appalling journalism...............

  • I don't really even understand what this means. Powerful? How? Morrissey couldn't even get a record deal 18 months ago. How come he's suddenly "powerful" just because he's had a successful record.

Influential, yes. Powerful? I don;t even know what that means in this context.

  • Can anyone explain how this grumpy old Yorkshireman qualifies in this List? I thought his only interests were slagging off England's cricket and football teams.

  • Nothing to do with this particular subject, but does anybody know where I could find the compliation of the songs played before Morrissey's show, the so-called "hate-list" or someting, the first track on it is by Serge Gainsbourg, and I was wondering if there are any copies circulating.

  • What I'd like to know is who exactly answered the poll. Obviously not people from the music industry. Besides any Morrissey-related consideration, how can anybody gifted with the slightest common sense could place Dr Dre (the guy who literally co-owns US Rap by license with Puff dadddy) under his disciple Eminem. Eminem or 50 Cent wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Dr Dre.

So the whole poll can be flushed down the drain for it was probably committed in the audience during TOTP.

  • Care about these hierarchies? What might be better is something along the lines of 'biggest 'industry' wankers'. Then again, doesn't need a top 100 list. = All of 'em.
