Briefly: Lloyd Banks, Syreeta Wright, The Doors, Morrissey - LiveDaily

...Morrissey's sold-out July 17 performance at House of Blues in Chicago will likely be his only US show this summer, according to his publicist. The ex-Smiths singer had been scheduled to appear on this summer's canceled Lollapalooza tour.

  • First no Lollapalooza, and now no Morrissey tour. And I had really hoped there was going to be one. Ah, well, I guess I can console myself with the fact that he probably wouldn't have stopped in Ohio anyways.

Well, I'm off to go sit in a dark room and sob.

funny because sanctuary records has really been doing a pretty good job of keeping his name in the papers and in doing so, protecting their investment. but i can't see him sitting around all summer after all the hoops he and sanctuary has been jumping through. he might not tour proper, but i'm sure he'll perform the one-off gig around the states.

    OR

either that, or my prediction from a month ago is coming true. without alain, him being on the road would end once his major commitments were met (ie: meltdown, move, etc). maybe he just doesn't feel comfortable touring without alain afterall -- makes sense since he's been pretty loyal to him in the past regarding alain's "ailments."

This news is a drag, almost as disappointing as the Kilborne cancellation, I don't live in LA or NY so this gutted me at the time and now this! Surely he won't neglect the US/Canada/Mexico? Its starting to feel strange that after all this 'Comeback' business to not have a ticket or even a set date for a show yet. A Winter tour is fine by me as long as I get to see him eventually.

  • After all the hype around this album and all the press there is no tour in America. What a stupid move. There goes the momentum. If it does have anything to do with the Bush comment that is even more stupid. I am glad he says what he feels isn't that freedom of speech. Anyone remember Queen is Dead or Margaret On the Guillotine. "I'd like to drop my trousers to the queen" Oh well I don't know why I am complaining he sure would not have come to Austin or Houston. He probably would have played 5 shows in Vegas, 5 in Tempe, 5 in Phoenix, 5 in Sante Fe.

I really don't understand this move from a marketing standpoint or a comeback standpoint.

Back when Lallapalooza was scheduled, people were asking why he wasn't playing the LA lallapalooza show. His people said it was because he was going to perform at a different time in LA so he didn't want to "double up" or whatever you want to call it.

So, in my opinion, he wil be coming back, to the west coast anyway, to play.

And all this talk about him avoiding the US because of his Bush coments, I think is rubbish too. Even though I didn't like the comments, I don't think anyone realy cared about them.
Were their any radio station sponsored "burn your Morrissey cd's" events or any other similar protests against him? Did Bill O'Rielly comment on it?
The old Dixie Chicks got a noticable thrashing from public after their comments.
Morrissey either doesn't have enough general public attention, or no one really cares.

I know it's silly, but without this delusion, I just coudn't go on living. And I will be utterly inconsolable come August 6th, when I was supposed to have been seeing Morrissey perform at Lollapalooza.

  • First of all, I live in Chicagoland, and I am so happy that Morrissey is coming to play here. Morrissey did not play here during his last tour, so I believe Chicago is *way* past due!

I will be in line very early to see Morrissey; he is my boyhood idol, and my musical hero. He is and will always be the champion of my heart. Since age 12 he has mesmerized me, and I am 30 now.

As for the rest of the U.S., don't worry- there will be more tours and another album.

    Truly,

I'm flying out to Chicago for the HOB show next Friday...I'll send my love.

  • Morrissey has toured the states PLENTY these past few years. We've been treated big time. Moz hadn't played Manchester in like what, 12 years?!

Let the Euros enjoy their time with him, he'll be coming home soon to rest in sunny LA. After a couple months recouping, collecting his thoughts and god only knows what else, he'll be back. You just need to stretch out and wait! Don't let your impatient nature drive you into vulgarity.

  • Well thats a really mature reaction. Moz has toured the US loads in the last few years and not touched Europe with a bargepole. Now we've got him for a fleeting moment you want to scream to your mammy because he's ignoring the 'good 'ol USA'.

I do feel some sympathy though. What a week for you all. No Moz and now, apparently, no WMD in Eye-raq! Maybe you could go cry to Dubya and see if he can "fix it" for ya ;)

You'd do well to remember the YATQ title track: "America is not the World".
