  • It will probably be on the I Like You-US single?

  • I was wondering when we'd get to hear Slum Mums and Punlic Image.

Now then, does that about exhaust all the songs from the "You Are The Quarry" sessions?

Cool, now Morrissey can get working on the follow-up album first thing in the new year! :)

Also, is "No One Can Hold A Candle To You" the song that they recorded on tour without Alain? Is Alain coming back someday? :(

  • I like 'No One Can Hold A Candle To You'.

Let's hope the other IHFJ b-sides are better than the LMKY b-sides - despite some very nice lyrics, I didn't think they were very inspiring or, indeed, particularly good. Lyrically they were promising, but musically they were rather drab, especially 'Friday Mourning' and 'I Am Two People' - or at least that's how I felt about it.

    Pray for decent artwork too!

  • well at least we know now that "i am 2 people" and "public image" are not the same song. pre-quarry release, didn't alain state they had 29 new songs? no counting "candle" we now have 23. "home is a ?" and "playing easy..." possibly still out there makes it 25. anyone heard about any others? i smell more quarry singles.

  • Is this a cover of the first single by Public Image Limited. I bought that when it first came out. I think it was about 1979. I still have it and still occasionally play it. It had a fantastic slieve, in the days when most slieves were plain slip cases this one came wrapped in a news paper. Unfortunately, I lost the paper. Given Morrissey's appreciation of John Lydon a PIL cover seems possible but since it has never been played live, who knows.

The original song started with a series of "Hello, Hello, Hello, Ha Ha Ha ..." so it would make a great entrance. In Dublin maybe?

  • The intro to 'No One Can Hold A Candle To You' is reminiscent of the 1980's Scottish rockers Big Country. Like a lot of U2's eighties stuff they all seemed to have the same opening riff.
You had to wait for 20 seconds to recognise which track it was.
    Great band them Big Country.

  • Can someone sort this out for the American releases?

    1. I Like You -anyone find the US version, or is it coming in Jan.?

    2. What is the fourth US single? Does that differ from the fourth UK single? When is it being released?

    3. Is there official word on I Have Forgiven Jesus as the fifth single, or is it rumor???

    Thanks for the help.

      1) ILY will be released as the 3rd US single in January. no word on bsides yet but i'm guessing they'll include these from the UK Jesus singles.

      2) they've just announced the 3rd US single(see above) so you'll have to wait for a 4th US single, if there's one at all.

      3) IHFJ is the 4th UK. again, no word if it'll be released in the US as a single. probably not due to its lyrical content.

  • it's a sure fire way of getting mozz top 5, everyone of you out there, buy 10 copies, come on, buy the vinyl, they will be collectable within 3 years, if there's no vinyl left, buy the cd's, for the sake of a few quid, we can get mozz a deserved year end chart position, band aid obviously nos. 1, the artists involved could of donated the money instead of us, and they would of saved us listening to the desperate song that it is. (see alex needham article n.m.e. 20th nov) so like i say buy 10 copies for mozz, see you all in birmingham for a TOP night

  • Slightly off-topic, I know, but what happened to the sleeve that originally came up for Let Me Kiss You? The one in front of the spangly curtain was on HMV's original advertisement but wasn't actually used after all - could it be rehashed and end up as the IHFJ sleeve? I personally like the priest's dog collar get up he's been wearing for the past few shows - I think he should have something along those lines for this cover :-)

  • it's up to the label to decide if they want to release more singles because they'll have to end up eating that cost if they sit on the shelves. they could have stopped after FOTG, or maybe even LMKY because it was a cross-promotional thing with Nancy. however, morrissey is one of their biggest money makers, and looking at how they release the songs, it's obvious that they know that morrissey has a loyal fanbase who will buy both versions of the single....and since record companies are really profit driven these days, they're going to do what is the safest and easiest method of raking in a couple of $$.

  • If you think there is no humour in IHFJ you obviously don't see humour in anything. You probably thought Girlfriend in a Coma was a sad song.

The minute we hear of any release it seems there's always people waiting to slag it off no matter what it is. They are the humourless, joyless ones.
