    • the thought should have crossed my mind about such a thing happening back when the dates were canceled. if at that time there were talks of a second leg of the tour in the new year and he was too ill to play Houston, maybe they figured that they could just go ahead and cancel Austin as well because it was probably about half sold out and maybe return and hit all of those cities in one swoop at a later point along with the mysteriously vanished El Paso date.

the only problem with that theory was that the venues were not quite as sold out as they should have been. i don't know if that would be much of an enticement to come back.

STATEMENT ON KROQ & ALICE SHOW'S

    September 21, 2004
Thank you to everyone for your kind letters of support and concern about Morrissey’s well being. He sends his very best wishes and looks forward to seeing you all on tour over the next few months starting in Washington next week. What should have been a wonderful triumphant weekend playing to 35,000 of you in LA and 10,000 or you in San Francisco ended on Saturday morning with sinusitis, acute laryngitis and a high fever with orders from Dr Joseph Sugarman to get to bed and not speak for the next 48 hours at a minimum. Sadly we not only had to postpone the shows but also cancel (at great expense!) the video shoot for Let Me Kiss You which was due for Tuesday. The most important thing of course is Morrissey’s health and we are happy to report that with the prescribed rest he will be ready to go next week and we will make an announcement later this week on a special event to make up for the KROQ show that all 35,000 of you who were there on Saturday will get to see and the same for the ALICE show in San Francisco . On a final note we understand that there are those in the Morrissey community on morrissey-solo.com spreading erroneous rumours about lawsuits and questioning whether KROQ did everything possible to bring you the information in a timely fashion. I can assure you that the rumours are false and the integrity of KROQ cannot be questioned. They handled a very difficult situation impeccably and you should treat anything you are told to the contrary as rubbish.

    Best wishes,
    Merck Mercuriadis

  • I saw S.P. Morrissey at the Apollo in Harlem all five nights, then I went to see him twice in Philly and twice at Radio City. I even went to the seaside town that they forgot to bomb, Asbury Park, NJ, front row baby!

After all of that, I still can not get enough. I may need help. . . but i still have the recurring dream where he calls me and i know its him when the phone is ringing. . . I say "hello" and the dream ends. Make the dream real and come back to NYC metro. I miss you. We miss you. . .

If Morrissey is Irish and has relatives in Staten Island and NJ. . . could we be remotely related, as my mom is Irish and we have a ton of relatives scattered about. . . 15 minutes with you. . .

Seriously I doubt he'll tour this year just like I doubt he will officially retire. After 2 World tours in 3 years surely the guy is entitled to a rest!

If he does come out and say 'I am retiring' he would have to be sure that he won't think of a decent song in 5 years time. As he pretty much works for himself he would unnecessarily be closing off avenues for himself.

He'll be back but not this year.
