Famed film scorer Jon Brion played a very bizarre version of Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, when opening for the band The Polyphonic Spree Monday night in LA.

He first played it regular then went into a 3 minute "Les Paul" country instrumental version which was very interesting.

  • This is my first post on the boards...
Jon Brion is a fantastic peformer (don't know why he is playing with the annoying Polyphonic Spree, but never mind...) He takes requests all night for his Largo shows, playing whatever he feels like all night. The last time I went to see him one person in the crowd yelled Aerosmith. Another person requested The Smiths. Brion smiled and said "did somebody say The Aero-Smiths?" He then took a second to figure out what he was going to do and impromised a medley combining Smiths and Aerosmith tunes...and it worked amazingly well. He did throw in Heaven Knows, if I recall singing it over the tune of "Walk This Way." It was a lot of fun, and what makes Brion's shows great is that he is having a blast playing up there every weekend. I highly recomend checking his show out for anyone who is in the LA area.
