Diary - Billy Bragg
Monday 27th March 2006

Excerpt:

I couldn't resist going along to see Morrissey at a packed Austin Music Hall. He played a blinder, mixing songs from his new album with half a dozen Smiths standards. Singing along to "Still Ill", I felt 17 again - which is odd, because I was in my late twenties when the Smiths were at their peak. He closed with a stomping version of "How Soon Is Now?". Eat your heart out, David Cameron.

  • billy also said, at his official SXSW performance, that he'd gone back to morrissey's place after the show and that they'd spent a long evening talking...and when he played an unofficial afternoon show on saturday, he played the smiths' "jeane."

  • "I felt 17 again - which is odd, because I was in my late twenties when the Smiths were at their peak" Ahh, Billy Bragg is great. Seeing him in London a couple of weeks before seeing Moz. With The Shins inbetween, May is going to be fantastic!
