25 Bands That Should Reunite

3. The Smiths
Morrissey - check. Johnny Marr - check. Andy Rourke - check. Mike Joyce - check. Alright, we all admire your individual efforts and all, but it's been 20 years since The Smiths broke up and we could use a reunion album, an arena tour -- the whole nine. You started something, finish it.

  • Okay -- the Smiths will never reform. But even if they did, can you imagine how awful it would be?

On second thought, I'm sure it wouldn't be THAT bad...but it will be nothing like the way it was...so it's best to keep things in the past.

Besides, Morrissey sees no point in reuniting with Johnny for anything (maybe just to get the Smiths' albums reissued), and Johnny is suddenly happy in the spotlight under Modest Mouse.

  • #19 - Echo and the Bunnymen
Ok, so who is that band then that I've been seeing perform "the Killing Moon" and "Rescue" the past few years everytime they tour the States? Pete past on years ago and Les isn't interesting in touring anymore.

  • ...they finished it. what's the problem?

oh, and what does "check" mean here, exactly? that they're all alive still? sure, but they'll never work together...

  • Obviously I'd go see a reunion of the Smiths. It'd be amazing. Even if it was just Morrissey & Marr I'd go. Even if it was everyone except Morrissey I'd go, because I'd love to see them all perform together. And if they recorded together, that would be amazing and I'd buy it.
BUT there would be something impure about it and it would stain a perfect legacy. As much as I'd love it, I really hope it never happens. There's something nice about a band having such a short but brilliant career.

  • Marr and Moz should at least try to play with each other just to see how it goes.. even Rourke should join in cause his basslines were essential towards the group! but Joyce!! fuck Joyce!! yes uncheck him.. he doesn't belong..
