Great news! Apparently there's a new album 'absolutely written and completely ready', but it won't be released until next year. And he's still enjoying touring!

    Not right, right?!

  • Better not be Ringleader part II.
Visconti is production poison. He must be dismissed.
Moz needs to have better lyrical content than the weak and often times embarrassing lyrics in ROTT.
Jesse Tobias better not have a single song on it. He is a proven amateur writer.

  • YES! But... We have to wait aroung 11 months...

"You are bound to pick up influences whose lyrics are famed for incorporating social and political commentary. But when you create and write it's very important to be yourself and that's what I've always tried to do. I'm outside the mainstream, and the mainstream never let me in."

    It sounds interesting :)

I hope he will release a single earlier than the album...

and as for me, I stand with the tribe of Morrissey.
  • This is great news. Sounds like there will be a nice 3-4 month break between ending the tour in Europe Nov/Dec and then recoridng the alblum in spring of 2008.

This means more shows for a new tour in Fall of 2008? Hope so.

For all it's worth, I am so pleased the man is continuing with his career. He's a living legend and I could not be more pleased.

    Thank you Morrissey~

  • If you read both articles, they are inconsistent. BBC says the tour ends in Washington and NME says Miami (which leads me to believe that BBC just did some sloppy research.)
The quote seems a lot more coherent in the BBC article though. It almost looks like NME was not there and just paraphrased what the BBC had reported. NME then goes on to once again report that he was implying retirement from performing.
It would be nice if we could see the press conference and not have to interpret what was actually said by playing telephone.

  • He doesn't have a new record deal yet! Why wasn't that important piece of information ever brought up....almost signing with Warners doesn't constitute having a new deal....also, what about the 'Best of' compilation album, live album, Hollywood Bowl dvd concert?? More questions than answers...I for one cannot wait another 7 years while Moz shops around for the best deal.

Yes, that's why "these shows will be the last Morrissey will do for the foreseeable future." Heaven forfend that he ever becomes gaggingly miserable...

Maybe he is deliciously happy not to be doing it for the forseeable future?

(It's sounds like a moan but it's not really.)

  • Nothing indicates that it will be anything but another power chord slog with a paint by numbers Morrissey strategy on it.

Boz already stated in Rogan's recent book that they are asked to write demos with very little melody so that Morrissey can wrap his vocal melodies around the songs.

This appears to be the problem with Morrissey's current song-writing startegy, and why the music seems to have suffered since YA, and V&I.

I know I'm the only one to ever ask "what's the point of this?" ...But it's still a very good question...
I consider not to ask yourself any a lack of intelligence, Schteve. (don't bother replying, fans).
At this point in your life you could have done so much better than that.

So, anyway, you still haven't said: whatchawannado? For the planet I mean?

    Not a lot, eh?

Promise you'll at least start a vegetable patch.(I am not asking for much because I know you can't do much.) I shall expect the carrots to be ready for inspection in September.Ok? I will pay attention to gardening or any other green initiative from your part. But only to that I'm afraid.

    We'll see if you care.

So good luck, and till then, bye, deliciously happy person!

(PS: You have lost weight, haven't you? Or is it Boz?)

    (Compliments Boz, Sir.)

    Laurel Aitkens, and Alton Ellis.

  • I said it before and I'll say it again. All those fools who thought Moz was going to retire this year are.... well... fools! I knew he wouldn't walk away now. Like I said, he will record and tour well into his 50's. There are many more Moz albums to come!

  • Everything on ROTT was great apart from the D+ lyrics from Moz. Hopefully he'll come back with some of those humorous poetic lines that we cherish and love him for. Recipe for a Mozzer classic(in my book):

    a 1/2 cup of love
    a 1/2 cup of hate
    2 tea spoons of joy
    2 tablespoons of sorrow
    1 wedge of comic poetry
