I received this anonymous submission, can anyone confirm or deny? This is certainly a possibility as several were offended by Kristeen's comments during Tuesday's concert (see: New York, NY - Hammerstein Ballroom (October 23, 2007) post-show). It could all be a hoax too.

An anonymous person writes:
Kristeen Young is has been fired from the tour. As soon as her set was over on Tuesday night, she was met in her dressing room by the tour manager, who informed her she would not be included on the rest of the dates. She has an appointment to pick up her belongings on Friday. She will be touring briefly with Ted Leo and The Pharmacists this November.

  • The Ted Leo thing was announced before the now-infamous J-j-joke. Personally, I don't think Moz would boot her for that -remember she's written a damn song about abortion which parodies "Little Jack Horner" and calls the penis a "life-stealing baby gun;" I think he must have accepted in his heart that tastelessness is in her schtick and soul- but if he has, I think less of him.

  • I think she is a talented studio artist who would be better served fronting a traditional structured band. I went to the Phoenix show having listened to several of her albums and even purchased The Orphans. However, her live set was painful. The song selection was terrible and the whole two piece (just her and the drummer) plainly does not work live. She has talent. Surely, a record company must have suggested putting a band around her? Lyrically, she is interesting and unique, she could be a fine addition to alternative music.

As for the remark, if it is true then Morrissey needs to lighten up. She's been placed in an impossible situation opening for him and gets abused nightly. If Morrissey cannot take a silly joke, that is just sad...

  • She has definetely experienced a lot of hostility on this tour. She gets heckled every single night. I feel sorry for her in a way: she travels independently which means that she is not part of Morrissey's entourage. She & Jeff need to make their own travel arrangements while Morrissey travels in his own luxury coach.
Morrissey's support acts have always been a bit hit & miss: The Sons & Daughters in 2006 were awful I think. Anyway, I can kind of sympathize with Kristeen: It is a HARD job being a support act for Morrissey! What annoys me though is that I can never understand a word she sings and I don't like her odd smirky quiet comments.

  • i've seen Kristeen Young heckled in cartain cities (Houston & Chicago come to mind), and it's my impression that it happens alot. I feel bad for her, because she's just doing her thing. I think what she does is interesting and has some strong aspects to it, even if it's not everyone's cup of tea.

For whatever reason, though... she was not heckled Monday or Tuesday In New York. any negativity coming from the crowd came after she dished it out first. The NYC crowd was quiet in-between songs, that's all. On Monday she decided to give the audience a mini-lecture about expression, something about "what's wrong with America is that no one expresses themselves, they go shopping instead". on Tuesday it was the sarcastic and annoyed comment: "do you have *anything* to say?"... and when someone yelled out "Morrissey"... she replied in a bratty tone with: "Morrissey gives good head... i mean cunnalngus".

It's as though she *wants* to hear heckling, or maybe she's so used to it, that at this point she jokingly invites-it to prove that she's strong enough to take it. it's a strange psychological thing with her... like a self-fulfilling prophecy. i think her relationship with the audience is overall negative, and it's definitely not always the audience that instigates it, she's a major contributer to the mood.

  • she is a talented artist, but like any human being, she lost her composure after so much heckling. It did reach an unbearable point and she just exploded. I think that many 'fans' wanted to bug her enough for her to mess up and go, I don't see how this could keep going on. What she said was improper, and gross, but we all make mistakes in our lives, and don't we all get gross sometimes...I wish her good luck if she actually has gone. I think it's even better for her this way, because now she could form her own band or do her own shows without having to (inevitably) compete with Morrissey. His fans just saw her as a thing standing in the way.

Rock 'n roll doesn't have to be pretty and served to your liking. There is no such thing as bad press. This is also the same guy who pushed Johnny Marr to do all of the dirty work in The Smiths, and could only muster enough strength in his character to fire Andy Rourke by leaving a note on his car.

I'm sure he broke up with Jake by text message.

I've seen her open for Moz seven times and witnessed the odd drunken asshole shout something stupid , but I've also seen her cheered by the majority of the audience who also shout out song requests. I did gasp at her comment, and knew it would rub people the wrong way, but I truly think Morrissey would find it amusing, and provocative. I still have no idea why she said it, but to be fired for it seems a very Republican Bush-like tactic, that I do not think Moz would ever subscribe to.

Women should even reunite and do public protests against bad cunnilingus. Most men think they have to use their tongues like a scrubber. And it's a shame there isn't a cunnilingus course to teach people, like in Sappho's days, about the subject. Sappho used to teach music, poetry and cunnilingus. Too bad we're not in Ancient Greece, to learn more about body poetry.

  • My band, KRISTEENYOUNG, have been asked to leave the Morrissey tour.
Although I have been advised not to respond or issue a statement, my feelings are that I must. We have been asked to leave because of something I said on stage at The Hammerstein Ballroom, in New York City, this past Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the statement has been perceived as being profane (when, actually, one of the two words in question is a scientific term found in junior high, health class text books, and the other word, I feel most would agree, is lightweight slang) or defamatory. What I said was part of a thread of stage statements I made throughout our set. They were metaphorical and overstated to make an artistic point. The “offending” statement, in particular, was in no way a literal statement, and was very much in keeping with the tone of my writing in general. I reach for beauty and intelligence in my lyrics, but try to retain a bit of the everyday in them. Maybe the statement was a bit TOO everyday. Maybe I misjudged… but I meant no harm. I love Morrissey with all of my heart, soul, body, spirit, to the core of my existence and always will. These will be the only words I will ever write or speak on the subject ever again. Please don’t ask for an interview or e-mail me with questions. Thanks to those who understand and who are brave enough to say so.
