The Smiths' The Queen Is Dead Explored on New DVD - Pitchfork The Smiths' third LP, 1986's The Queen Is Dead, deserves pretty much every kind word that's ever been thrown at it. (Heck, we even voted it the #6 album of the 1980s). Dense and lyrical and paranoid and yearning, it's arguably the finest single document of one of the greatest bands of all time. On June 10, Sexy Intellectual via Music Video Distributors will add a few more positive adjectives onto the pile with The Queen Is Dead: A Classic Under Review, a DVD containing a so-called "visual review" of the seminal LP. Documenting the sessions for what would become The Queen Is Dead, the Under Review disc features both studio and live readings of every song on the album, as well as interviews with band members, the late Factory Records head Tony Wilson, a host of Smiths/Moz biographers, Suede's Brett Anderson, and the album's engineer/co-producer Stephen Street. In addition to the two-hour feature, there's plenty of bonus goodies, including an interactive DVD game. Please please please let it be "Pin the Tears on the Morrissey". Hey, speaking of that guy, he's no racist, and he's got the court-ordered apology to prove it. He'll headline London's O2 Wireless Festival on July 4, though, which does bring his patriotism into question. Oh, wait, Morrissey's British? Guess that explains all that talk about the queen.

These DVDs tend to be pretty uneventful... a few disposable interviews interspersed with nanoseconds of footage, most of which we've all seen before.
Don't shell out big bucks for this stuff. Buy it used for half price but only if you're really desperate but otherwise just stick to the stuff you find on the forums here.
Thanks to EVERYONE who's EVER posted any bit of audio or video here. Your efforts are very much appreciated. You're making people happy. That's a nice thing. Thank you.

I just don't know why TQID is always voted ABSOLUTELY the best Smiths album.
