Johnny must get sick of telling this story, I've heard it told so many times. The most interesting thing however, is that Marr always makes out he travelled to Morrissey's house alone - he didn't.

  • I love to hear stories like this. It become a question of fate or free will on how these two legends met and formed what is probably the greatest indie British band of all time. Simply a great insight into The Smiths.

  • Apart from the idiotic conjecture thrown about on this thread, the viewing of those two parts made my day. I don't know, follow or understand Marr. Morrissey is and was the Smiths to me. Marr was a part of something that gave us Morrissey. Without Marr, we have no Smiths and Morrissey would have bed sat for all of eternity living a sad life with his cats. I suppose now, I understand Marr a bit better and thank you, Mr Mahar, for pulling Morrissey out of his bedroom and into the world.

  • Johnny was possibly follwed by MI5 if he were not alone when he went to Morrissey's house, MI5 follow everyone, everywhere all the time you know and 'they' are watching, all the time . . . anyway, Johnny seems to be very busy at the moment, am hoping to catch one show, so I can hear live, who Morrissey worked with historically . . .

  •   Johnny Marr is an outstanding musician and a very cool human being. To refer to him as a clown is a huge insult. The Cribs album is great with at least a half a dozen strong songs. Morrissey continues to write his depressing brand of music and is so isolated and insignificant with todays listening audience. He will go down in the music history books as a man who started off creating some very brillant music and then when to shit. A Marr/Morrissey would be nice but will never happen. Morrissey is to much of a dickhead for Marr to put up with and he has found other more grounded musicians to trecord and tour with.
