This is a feature by the Guardian from May 08 but it doesn't look like it was ever linked from this site. Morrissey's 'madstock' performance is ranked at number 4. "Morrissey: Madstock, 1992 Draped in the Union Jack, Moz plays 'National Front Disco' against a huge backdrop of two skinheads. And so the trouble begins..."

There's a video of a gold lame-clad Moz singing NF Disco for the frinkers!

  • If they're including Woodstock '99 then what about Hendrix at the original Woodstock '69? That should be in the top three.

As for 'memorable,' I have vivid recollections of witnessing something akin to the sound of a wounded Chewbacca from 'Star Wars' painfully exsanguinating, while some of the finest rock guitar parts ever were blunderingly ruined by the ex-simply red axe-man; and a dancing girl cavorted while a session musician asked us to 'wave your hands around in the air.' The festival performance? The Roses at Reading in '96. And Mani didn't even look embarrassed. That has to be among the most memorable (and worst) festival displays ever.

50 Cent being pelted with objects at Reading some years later was another memorable one.

Morrissey at Coachella in '09 might be another that will go down in history for all the wrong reasons!

What about Muse at Glastonbury in 2004 too?

  • when their just became famous they played Pinkpop

a stoned Eddy Vedder climed upon the stage building, from there upon the a sorta robot arm
camera which reached over the public, in which he
    dived

He had powdered his nose a bit too much

    but a legendary moment

but as all these listed are Brittain Festivals

Pinkpop is,well Dutch , but walking to German or
Belgium border is closer than walking to the trainstation Landgraaf, sorta

better, or sadder was Shane Mc Gowan , when the Pogues played Pinkpop, he was too drunk and bet
he had taken other goodies, he just 'was'on the
stage wondering what to do, the PR woman tried to
get him of, but he seem to like being looking to 50.000 people, he tried to sing, but he didn't
rmembered the words, totally of tune

Well , I gueess Shane had done more of these
      gigs

hope he's living a healthier life, and makes
a pogues record with new material
