“Richard Dutton is leading the pack as an exciting new performer; writes his own enigmatic songs, sings them in his own inimitable style; it's a privilege to work with such a brimming talent. His originality knows no bounds.” BOZ BOORER
It’s the well-worn, romantic songwriter’s story, but with a twist...
Arriving in Manchester with a guitar, a holdall and demo cds, Richard Dutton had a chance meeting in a hotel bar that was develop into a great friendship.
That chance meeting was with long-time Morrissey collaborator and Polecats legend Boz Boorer, who fell in love with Richard’s songs his passion and drive: The Boorer Sessions were born.
Boz loved the songs so much that he invited Richard to record for free at his Serra Vista Studios in the Portuguese mountains. Only one problem...Richard needed a band.
Some of Manchester’s best new musicians were eager to help, with Joseph Kondras on Drums (The Heartbreaks) and Rob Cross on Bass (Orphan Boy). ‘You Can’t Lose’ all sees Boz himself on Double Bass and Saxophone.
Tom Robinson and Edwyn Collins count themselves as fans
Since the recordings, Richard has now recruited full time members and formed The So n So's, and on a fresh wave of musical inspiration and direction, the band are going back to Portugal to record with Boz in April prior to a huge homecoming gig at Manchester Academy on April 17th.
A UK tour is currently being booked for June 2010
