Dublin's Sunday Tribune (March 28th) recalls Morrissey's first National Stadium gig on April 27th 1991. It states "His first official solo tour since the demise of The Smiths brought Morrissey to the SCR for a gig plagued by poor sound and distinguished by a cover of 'Trash' by the New York Dolls, as a tribute to Johnny Thunders who had died days before aged 38." Moz's setlist is reported as follows:
Interesting Drug
Mute Witness
The Last Of The International Playboys
November Spawned a Monster
Will Never Marry
Sing Your Life

King Leer
That's Entertainment
(I'm) The End of The Family Line

not gonna look if 'I changed my plea to guitlty'

Anyway the energy and the drive Morrissey had that tour, well, you had to be there to, say that
he gave everything
even in songs had to get some air, and leave some lyricparts to get going
Musicly it's better from the Quarry tour on, with a keyboard, extra bandmember
erm a guy from Belgium even touched him,not much
got on stage that night

Cassette Recording (Score:1)
I don't make many posts on this site but thought that I should add that I have an old C90 cassette recording of this gig which I made myself using a recording walkman I owned at the time. It was actually a very good recording considering the equipment used. It's knocking about somewhere at home. Wonder if it might be worth anything considering it was the launch of Moz's first ever solo tour....?
The gig was particularly memorable for me because rows of old school chairs had been put out in front of the stage. As soon as the crowd poured in, the chairs went flying over heads in all directions. Amazing to watch. There was also considerable quietness in the audience when he dedicated 'Trash' to Johnny Thunders, leaving a considerable gap after saying 'Johnny'......... Remember, this was only his second ever gig without Johnny Marr...........
