  • Ugh. 32 mil? That's less than the some of the offers made for the much dreaded/much anticipated Smiths reunion.

Prepare for mass media hype, 100 dollar tickets, 60 dollar tee shirts, and a priceless amount of disappointment.

  • That site... (Score:1, Insightful)

The place isn't exactly drowning in sources, is it? By which I mean it doesn't cite *any* sources, or *any* method of calculation, *and* every page has links with the names of a million celebrities, and the title of the front page is a weirdly long string of disconnected data ("richest rappers, James Cameron's net worth..."), and there are lots of irrelevant photos and YouTube links and tags. It's almost like the whole venture is nothing more than a mass of search-engine optimization designed to bring in various Googlers, provide no content except for a mysterious number, and feed them a load of ads. Almost.

Morrissey might be worth $32 million, $23 million, $423 million, or he might have no assets beyond a fantastic back catalogue and a nice ass. We aren't going to find out from here.

  • a true Morrissey obsessive you won't care how much money he has. All i want to know is when the bloody hell is he going to tour again? The Man, The Voice, The Music, The Atmosphere. I love it all.

Come on Morrissey make it 33 million just to piss em all off!!

  • Do the math here . Unless he has had the worlds most corking investment advice , he could not possibly be worth that much.

  • Moz and Marr were paying themselves quarter of a million pounds each in 1986. I know this coz I was in court the day their 1986 earnings were read out.

  • I am not sure just how they figured this amount, but even if it is true,i wonder what he would be worth if he didn't cancel half of the shows that he scheduled.Otherwise,i think this amount is somewhat inflated.

  • Remember kids... Bowie did not become a billionaire by selling bundles of records. He did it through saavy investing/trading. (Bowie bonds anyone?)

While Moz is not likely to have a similar tact, there's no reason why any of his handlers may not have. We have no idea who is managing his money. The late 80's through late 90's was the most bullish in stock market history. It's also the point where he was at his most profitable. If the monies from Kill Uncle tour, etc were properly invested, he could be worth a bundle.

Not that it matters how much he's worth - and its none of our business anyway

  • One cannot affix a dollar amount to such a priceless individual as Morrissey. His assets transcend financial data. When I hear amounts like that, though, it makes me cringe thinking how much money Mr. Joyce has managed to extract from our beloved Morrissey just for moaning!

  • Goodness, please don't say anything to JOYCE (ha ha ha. What a waste of space.)

    And more fun:

To this day Morrissey refuses to reunite his old band, going as far as to say that he would "rather eat [his] own testicles than re-form The Smiths, and that's saying something for a vegetarian." In March 2006, Morrissey revealed that The Smiths had been offered $5 million to reunite for a performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which he turned down, saying, "No, because money doesn't come into it." He further explained, "It was a fantastic journey. And then it ended. I didn't feel we should have ended. I wanted to continue. [Marr] wanted to end it. And that was that." When asked why he would not reform with The Smiths, Morrissey responded "I feel as if I've worked very hard since the demise of The Smiths and the others haven't, so why hand them attention that they haven't earned? We are not friends, we don't see each other. Why on earth would we be on a stage together?" - Wikipedia

I can remember those days, the court case and the press coverage and I can tell you now that I enjoy
reading these words every single day.
I say Bravo Morrissey for sticking
    the knife where it hurts.
