Spin Mag: The Queen Is Dead is the third most influential album in the last 25 years

How about those Smiths, huh?...You gotta admire a guy who can rhyme 'rusty spanner' with 'play pianner' and who can espouse the beauty of a double-decker bus collision."

U2's Actung Baby is number one, observed by some as a cause for angst, not celebration. ;)

  • Was it influential? It influenced us, obviously, but musically, lyrically? It didn't lead to a sudden rush of intelligent, funny, lierary-inspired lyricists. There was plenty of The Smiths in Suede, but Brett Anderson didn't read a book until 2005.

    • who knows what they mean with "influential".

It sparked a crisis in the automobile sector?
It generated a new strain of viral bird flu?
      Governments fell?
      Labour spawned monsters?
      People fell in love?

Or perhaps indeed, TQID made sure no one ever attempted literary wit in a lyric anymore. Being dull and plain is now part of the game.

I would say it's influential enough if it changed the life of some, who take that album as a starting point for their own individual ways of measuring out time while heading towards that "unbreakable appointment".

Be it good or bad, right or wrong - important or simply meaningless.

      Did it "touch" anyone?

ofcourse was the first Smiths album infuential,
in a way of that was their first to judge about
that unigue stange man with flowers as singer,
    a sound of their own

but Morrissey and Johnny were also infuenced, so
    it's rhetorical , or a circle

and the Smiths are a part in UK musicbands who
who influenced a generation, other bands, a
    prt of the circle

erm I went to a terapist today, it shows, ain't it :)
