Morrissey rejected role in Walliams' show - Daily Star

MORRISSEY turned down a role in DAVID WALLIAMS and MATT LUCAS' new comedy show - because he's a "useless" actor.

The singing legend was in talks with the Little Britain duo to appear in the BBC's upcoming series Come Fly With Me, but he pulled out of negotiations shortly before filming began.

Walliams tells Heat magazine, "He liked the idea and there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing. Then, when we finally thought it would happen, I got this text...

"'I'd love to do it, because it's you, and because you and the bald one are unclassifiable yet genius... but the thing is, I can't b**ody act. I'd faint, I'd vomit, I'd cover the crew in diarrhoea... I'm just useless whenever someone shouts 'action'."

Gordon Comstock also writes:

'Morrissey tucking into a pizza in Pizza Express, Soho in central London'.

  • I can't think of anything more degrading than being in a sad comedy programme when there is proper talent within. If Morrissey was to change his mind and do this it would be the worst decision he's made since walking off stage at Liverpool.

  • Frankly I'm amazed that it even got to the "discussion" stage - or maybe that's simply journalistic licence? More likely he was asked and said no, and this is the BBC Publicity publicity department working it up into a half-story. For the record, Walliams and the bald one are deeply un-funny twats and Little Britain is classic case of the Emperor's New Clothes. Must try harder, lads.

  • Is above this.

He would have been wonderful in Extras, playing a parody of himself in a genuinely uproarious show. On the other hand, the useless Lucas and Walliams are just about ready for the backlash.

What exactly is their talent? Nothing. They are useless.

a movie would suit him better, you can give him less text and more action, or make him someone

M, if you ever want to act, just give yourself to the role, you would not be you, hence, no reason to be self-conscious :). Concentrate on your other actors, forget anyone is watching. The character is a mask, and you utilize what's within you and fill in the surroundings and motivations of that character and give your take on what they would do to get what they want in the scene. Would be so exciting to see you do character acting.

If you want to be a Hollywood-type one-trick pony kind of actor, yeah, I'd be nervous, too. But even if you are asked to act as 'you' just make up a character in the place of that expectation and Play off of that.

Might I suggest Uta Hagen's "Respect for Acting" for some good tips...

  • Morrissey has always been fascinated with comedy - Jimmy clitheroe, Carry On, etc. I can imagine him being excited about being a part of an art form he likes but doesn't understand he way he understands music - until he got scared and remembered that acting is SO not his strong suit. I think he should go hang out on the set anyway.
