One of the best JM interviews I have ever read. Worth a look.

Love this...

Strangeways was always my favourite, because I think that it’s a brave record. There was an atmosphere that needed to be captured on that record, that I wanted to capture, and the way to do it is to leave some things open, and not to cram it with too much stuff, and I think that takes a certain sense of purpose, and bravery. So the production doesn’t have tons of overdubs, and the songs breathe a little bit, and it has a slightly unresolved atmosphere. There is space in it, and that was a conscious thing. I knew that the record was good at that time.

Atmosphere is how I always described it as well. There is a mood that Strangeways captures. It is my fave Smiths album precisely because of this.

Focus | PS by Paul Smith Autumn/Winter 13 - Paul Smith

In printed shirts, tailored jackets and neatly fitted knitwear, the autumn/winter 13 PS by Paul Smith collection takes inspiration from British musician Morrissey.

Known for his sartorial prowess, Morrissey defines alternative rock style. During his time as frontman of The Smiths his wardrobe was a mixture of vintage shirts, retro knits and tailored jackets. In the PS by Paul Smith autumn/winter 13 collection, these elements are reworked to create a contemporary men's wardrobe.

Tailoring takes inspiration from the 80s, with retro features such as wide, peak lapels and double breasting, updated with a contemporary fit and slim, flat-front trousers.

The colour palette focuses on neutrals punctuated by rich highlights of bold colour. Slate grey is paired with...

From the Guardian today, The artwork of the Smiths – in pictures.

Fans of the Smiths were given an additional invitation to the inner workings of Morrissey's mind via the artwork that accompanied the band's music, which featured figures from Elvis to Yootha Joyce and encapsulated the humour and tragedy of the band's lyrics.

The Smiths Poster Exhibition, taking place at BarcelonaNQ in Manchester until 31 August, is lifted from the personal stash of Smiths obsessive Marc Capella. Here's a selection of the most famous pieces.

As far as Morrissey concerts go, the one immortalised in his latest film Morrissey: Live isn't the best. It saddens me to say it, but my love affair with Mozza is well and truly over.

'Morrissey 25: Live' review: Really just for the hardcore - review by Mayer Nissim - Digital Spy

Excerpt from film review, posted in digital spy, August 19, 2013:

Anyone watching Channel 4's recent One Direction documentary who thought such obsessive fandom is anything new has clearly never visited the Morrissey-Solo.com fansite or monthly Smiths Disco at Manchester's Star & Garter. It's not just tweenage girls tweeting their heroes. Hardcore Moz fans are of both sexes and often old enough to be parents to children who themselves are old enough to know better.
