A friend of mine, working at the (main) national TV station passed me this link today where an excerpt from a Smiths performance & interview was shown back in 1983 or 1984 on a show called 'Generation 80'.

I had never seen it before anywhere else on the web so i thought this might interest other old Moz fans around.

Fans might recognise the epic 7-minute 'Piercing Blues' as the track that morphed into another song on Falcon - see if you can guess which. Those of you who are in-the-know about Manchester's musical heritage will need no reminding that 'There Is A Light...' is a song by one of Manchester's most gifted musical sons and one of The Courteeners' most outspoken admirers - Morrissey. The band are also joined on that track by Last Shadow Puppets frontman Miles Kane.

Gavin Hopps (University of St. Andrews)who authored Morrissey: The Pageant of His Bleeding Heart will be giving a lecture Friday 26 March in New York City at Fordham University, west 60th street campus at 5:30 p.m. in the South Lounge. The lecture is sponsored by the New York City Romanticism Group, English Department, Fordham University and is entitled:
Morrissey,Indie Music and the Legacy of Romanticism .
