A clarion call for the movement - SocialistWorker.org

Excerpt:

MORRISSEY HAS also had a relationship with LMHR in the past. Back in 2008, he gave several thousand pounds to the group to help out with one of your carnivals. With his recent comments, though--calling the Chinese a "subspecies"--do you think there will be any kind of relationship in the future?

NO, I think it's gone now...

...I don't believe it's a mistake. I think it's conscious, and I think he's gone too far. In our organization, some of the bands have already met and talked about it, and we don't want to be associated with him. We feel it's not helpful to anybody.

Of course, he could come out and make a clear denunciation, saying he didn't say it--he hasn't done that so far. And he hasn't contacted us to say he wants to distance himself from his statements. I think really he has to grow up at minimum.

Mozipedia - The Encyclopedia of Morrissey and The Smiths goes on sale in the USA from Tuesday 28 September, published by Plume through Penguin/Viking. It is virtually the same as the British edition which came out last year - same blue cover with shiny quiff, same layout, same description of ‘Pregnant For The Last Time’ as ‘Brylcreemed pop genius’ and the very same entry for Morrissey-Solo on page 272. The only differences are it’s a handbag-friendly couple of centimetres smaller, has one extra entry for Swords squeezed in at the end of S and costs $30 (less on-line at Amazon etc) which means it’s now, thankfully, cheaper than some of the exorbitant prices previously being charged for a UK import.

To all its previous readers, I’d also like to say sincere thanks for the letters, emails and entry-suggestions over the past year and I hope future readers of this edition find Mozipedia as fascinating as they have.

"Celibacy is just one of things that the Mozzer and I have in common...." says Stephen Fry in a recent "twitter" interview with journalist Johann Hari.

This follows Fry's own recent tweet praising Armitage's recent interview with Moz.

LATE NIGHT, MAUDLIN STREET - Ecouterre

Designer Ashton Hirota was thrust into the role of fashion stylist when he became annoyed with how other people were handling his garments. Taking that lateral leap allowed Hirota to continue to dabble in his own designs while dressing musicians such as Fergie and the Black Eye Peas, Regina Spektor, and Panic at the Disco.

At The GreenShows at New York Fashion Week on Monday, Hirota paid homage to another music idol—Morrissey—by invoking the British singer-songwriter’s dour, dry wit, along with bondage symbolism and military influences.

Hirota invoked Morissey’s dour, dry wit, along with bondage symbolism and military influences.

To set the moody tone, celebrity makeup artist James Vincent directed his team at Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics to accentuate the model’s faces with shadowy hues and somber liners, while embellishing their skin with brightly hand-painted tattoos. The finished look was an ominous horizon of cumulonimbus clouds, punctuated by the occasional glimpse of clear sky.
