Unless I am vey much mistaken, the football-boys backdrop is a still from a wonderful Ken Loach-movie : "My Name is Joe" - 1998.
(Iain I lost your E-mail address so, drop me a line sometime)

...erm... David,
How come you*ve got them all? And what does "to all that helped make it happen" mean? Were you involved in putting these backdrops up? That*s thrilling!

Although, I'm the wrong side of the Atlantic for the shows, these backdrops make up some of what I'm missing. Thanks to all those involved in putting them up on Moz-solo!!!

Whoever decided to put the "Que desmadre" slide up was right on target. . . there was a gang of brown folk there. . . it was fun to see and it felt very personable. Hopefully Moz knows that we are there for him and have been there since KROQ started playing him in the eighties. I actually came down from Tucson to see him at the UNI AMP and it was the best show that I've seen, even better than Tempe in early November and definitely surpassed the Tucson show I went to in Oct of '97. . . he seemed to be appreciative of us being there especially when he said something like, "I know you think it is us who give to you but rather it is you who give to us. . . I don't think he forgets us despite the love he has for himself. I was lucky enough to get Backstage and Pit passes. . . basically it was the bomb!! Thanks Moz!

know.

It's funny how Morrissey is holding on to his last remaining fan core by kissing their ass... and don't start with this racist crap because I'm Mexican too! It's obvious that he recognizes who his fan base is now(how that happened I don't know). I can recall in the old days the same chach and cholo wannabe's that dig Moz now were the same type of idiots who used to make fun of me for liking The Smiths in the old days(anyone else remember this?) Now they are the ones who like Moz and Moz knows that no matter what he puts out(it's all been crap since Street left the camp) his little fanbase will follow and suck it all up...even having sloppy seconds! You're all pathetic for following someone who obviously "lost it" years ago...

Hmm...first of all, there weren't too many Mexican fans at ANY of the sold-out east coast shows I went to, so there goes theory #1.

Secondly, "Your Arsenal," a fan and critics' favorite, was POST-Street, as was another favorite, "Vauxhall and I."

Last and least, what are you doing here? This is a Morrissey FAN site.

dear fred,

please don't worry. there is absolutely nothing wrong with a popular singer celebrating chicano/latino culture. i myself am a brown-skinned american-my parents emmigrated from mexico. it warms my heart to see someone so influential, as morrissey is, holding a valiant light to a group of people-that are at the bottom of america's "classist pecking order"-thus, dis-spelling many prejudices and providing a new insight and interest into an invisible people.

i am profoundly sorry that your peers made fun of you for liking the smiths back in the days. moreover, i am saddened deeply that you find it necessary to, in turn, hurt my feelings, and those of our dear brothers and sisters who frequent this fabulous web-site. please don't be mean. i don't have any skin. and words like that make me shiver and make my blood run cold.

if you ever need anyone to talk to or are feeling maligned, please drop me a line.

tu carnal.

love,

I thought the Backdrops were Great this time around as well as the songlist!(Universal L.A. in the pit!) Did anyone notice him when the Steve McQueen backdrop appeared? He just stopped what he was doing, turned his back to the crowd & just gazed at it for a long period of time. & did anyone see him getting upset over the moniter system there? I thought it was Funny when my brother asked to buy a Moz Condem & the merchandise lady started laughing at us & shaking her head. Fred...You Suck!!! Your trying to be "To Cool For The Room!"Alot of kids that are just starting to get into Morrissey were not old enough when the Smiths were around! I Was!! & I have been there since!! It is obvious that you don't know anything of the recent decade,& your trying to put it down because of your Lack of Knowing!

Hello all. I kind of agree with Fred... Sorry all. I just came across this website. I was also a fan of The Smiths "back in the day" and was also harrassed and ridiculed by all the same "type" of folks that like Moz nowadays. I don't get it! My friends little brother is a chach and he likes Moz. I don't get that! Before all you of start getting angry at me, I am also Mexican.

To Felipe-
Nice comments, but stop feeling sorry for yourself and all this "oh, poor us" syndrome. You sound like when blacks say:"200 years of oppression." That was then, this is now! I don't think Mexicans are at the "lowest level" or whatever you said. If you work hard and go to school- everyone is equal. I've never had this "you're nothing because you're Mexican" crap and I grew up in a bad part of town.... Stop feeling sorry for yourself and stand proud!

To Danny-
A tip for you... before you insult someone, try being grammatically correct. Bye for now
