Sticker on front claims to feature "Complete collection of Quarry B-sides" obviously wrong. Not only that just plain unecessary. They could have given us all 12 B-sides and a separate DVD not enhanced cd (which is shit anyway), and left out the actual album itself. Seems rather pointless to celebrate selling so many copies of the album by re-releasing the whole thing all over again. Not worth getting even if you don't have the FOTG B-sides on audio. Get someone to copy the B-sides for you.

Morrissey will have to kowtow to Sanctuary's marketing machine because of all the time, money and effort they put into making Quarry a commercial success. It's a win-win situation, really. Only us fans are - sort of - fucked. What's the point to separating the singles into two discs?? Etc, all old issues, I know. But that's the way it goes.

I bought mine today. I intend to corrupt my sister-in-law with my old copy. Pass it around, folks.

its the run up to Xmas and its all about selling as many units as possible - thereby reinforcing Morrissey in his excellent position with the record company, and allowing him to continue.

who knows - it may even get him a few new fans - I noticed the "I am the Quarry" is number 3 in the Sainsbury's gift cataloge of "great xmas gift ideas for men"

so tell me - have we all bought our dad a copy???? he dosen't want socks, again, not this year.

What the hell were all the CD singles for then? If the artwork on them were any good then it would be worth collecting. (i.e. Boxers, the more you ignore me, now my heart,,,,) Rather than going out and buying this piece of crap, you should spend your pitiful energy on contacting Sanctuary's marketing & art dept. and letting them now how ridiculous it is to release such a piece of garbage. If Morrissey endorsed it, he's just as guilty for such a lame release. Is anyone out there in accordance? Assuming we're not all Jehovah's Witnesses and, as such, we all actually DO buy Christmas presents for those around us, here's a simple solution to this dilemma:

Buy the new YATQ Platinum edition greedily for yourself. You know you really want it, so treat yourself - life's too short! Now here's the good part: There's no need to feel guilty about blowing that extra cash on something you've pretty much already got! Give away your original copy (which if you're a fan you would have "pre-loved" and kept looking brand-spanking new). No-one will be the wiser...and you've potentially spread Moz-tinged joy to your loved ones (or pissed them off, depending upon their musical tastes). No different from any other Christmas then, eh?

Bought my copy today and these are the facts for those in nations in which a release is forthcoming....

                - The CD looks rather lovely in silver and pink. A large, rectangular pink label adorns the cover stating this is a; 'DELUXE EDITION - Acclaimed new album as a TWO CD set which includes; THREE TOP 10 SINGLES. BONUS DISC FEATURING; Complete collection of 'Quarry' B-Sides. Enhanced cd including live performances. Tour photo gallery.'

                - The inlay sleeve to the CD 'maps' out into (on one side) lyric sheet for all Quarry and B-Side tracks, and (on the other) a rather lovely poster of Moz from the Quarry album album shoot. It's an image already used for promotion but looks good blown up.

                - The 'Bonus Disc Enhanced Section' seems at first viewing to be a rather shoddy affair. It won't play on a DVD player and so the video footage (The IBEH video and all three Craig Kilborn appearances) have to viewed on your computer as a Quick Time file. Nice.

                - The tour photos are a highlight. They seem very thrown together in the best possible way. Named snaps of the tour crew give it a personal feel and the ones that feature Moz (very few) are fantastic. A one of the lads in the pub, including Morrissey (listening to a Gary rant), is my personal favourite. I wonder if Moz chose these himself? I suppose he must of.

I think that's about it for the details.

My personal view is that everyone should buy this because £13.99 is easily wasted elsewhere. You can spend twice that in the pub when you didn't even want to go in. You might as well walk past The White Star without having a drink and own a Morrissey release for the same cost. Stop moaning.

Having said that, seeing as IHFJ is out soon this album doesn't contain the complete B-sides and therefore feels rather incomplete and hurried. The video extras are, frankly, fucking shoddy, and the only positive from this is could be that all the good stuff is being held back for the 'Who Put The M In Manchester' DVD. I mean, not even a 'First Of The Gang' video.....

I think fans should buy this attractive but flawed release simply because it's there. It's a cash in, that's obvious, but it's also a Morrissey release and I can't believe £13.99 is too much. C'mon! You WANT it!

Another thing - imagine if this album eventually (in about a year) pushed Quarry to 500,000 sales.... Half a million copies of a Moz album in the UK.... I think it's possible and a big landmark for our boy.

It's easy to slate this release but I can't think of a negative aspect to it aside from the above. It doesn't cost £300. It's a new release, and as fans we should welcome it.

I decided to buy the album purely because Amazon were offering it at £8.99 which seemed a good deal.

It wasn't long ago that Moz was without a record deal and I was organising silly petitions to "Give Morrissey A Record Deal - NOW!". So I'd prefer to support this release in the hope that it helps to prolong Morrissey's recording career (perhaps that's naive, time will tell).

However, I can't help feeling that Sanctuary would have been better off focussing on getting the DVD released in time for Christmas - i.e. while the tour is still fresh in people's minds. Maybe they intend to use footage of the December shows, but my guess is that it is already in the can. It reminds me of when we were waiting ages for "Introducing Morrissey" and it eventually got released some time in August 1996 - not exactly a peak period of Morrissey related activity...
