"On Friday, October 4, 1982, the "most influential band of the last fifty years" gave their first live performance at the Ritz nightclub in Manchester. Please join Sweet and Tender Hooligans this coming Friday, October 4, 2002, as they celebrate the twentieth anniversary of this landmark in pop music.

The band will perform the same set that the Smiths performed that night, followed by a complete set focusing on the Smiths' early years.

This event will be filmed for an upcoming documentary on Morrissey and the Smiths being produced for the Independent Film Channel.

Free admission to James Maker, Jim Rome, and the first person who can definitively confirm whether or not the Smiths performed the Cookies' "I Want A Boy For My Birthday" on that fateful night.

    i have a friend who goes to see these guys every chance she gets. she says they rock and the lead singer looks and sounds just like morrissey.

    club fais do-do is only 5 miles from my school as well, so i am definitely gonna try to be there.

  • who did not go to this show, let me tell you that you missed nothing. jose maldonado can't sing and it seemed like he kept forgettting the lyrics of the songs because he kept changing them all the time.

    the place was in the ghetto also and if i would have known this, i would not have gone. i was expecting to see some hot looking guys but they were all ugly and fat.

    who was the girl with the frizzy hair standing next to davidt?
