A new band to love:) The Howling Bells.

Go see them at these small venues while you can, a bit Mazzy Star meets the Editors at times but with a few more wistful songs. The lead singer sounds quite a bit like Harriet Wheeler of the Sundays, which is no bad thing.

So anyway if yer at a loose end i heartily recommend em'.

A great new song a day....

keeps the draw of shit music away.

this is the Howling Bells and it's utterly splendid, splendid i say!

download, have a brew and a hob nob (optional) and enjoy.

take care
Pitman.

Howling Bells - "Broken Bones"

P.S

if anyone asks where you got that song from 'mums' the word or the cat's mother ok?

I will be buying the album when it hits the shelves, i'm no pirate.

Might give it a whirl, though. Not been to the Adelphi since I saw Atilla the Stockbroker there in the late 80's. I'm surprised they haven't knocked the place down by now.

*goes to download*

are you ancient? i'm pretty much a fossil myself.

I once stumbled into a place called 'Spiders' upon visiting hull (or Hell you decide) twas a heavily goth influenced nightclub...they played the 'QID' i remember whilst people seemed to be dancing away in cage type set ups.

oh the memories.

Utterly marvellous!
But let's hope she's not right about the heart thing.
I'm more of a fig roll girl to be honest.

Dear god! Spiders; full of "pseuds and poseurs" as we pseudy, poseury students used to say in the early 80's. Does that date me? See my myspace if you haven't worked it out from that. I should add I'm not normally coloured blue; I was being arty.

My daughter will *adore* the Howling Bells. Thanks for the rec. Wonder if young-uns can go in to the Adelphi with a parent. I'll have to phone and see.

I saw them in Leeds last night and she seemed to be coping, a beautiful girl to match the angelic voice.
Quite a shoddy turn out for how good they're, about 50 at most...mind you they were only a support act to a band called...er...i can't remem...they looked like FF, 'the cinematics' or summat, who were fairly good but not a patch on the HB IMHO.

I'm sure they can, you're just not supposed to buy them bottles of WKD and such...such vomit inducing drinks, even the smell.

Did you like it or think it was bobbins?

Jo Jo70 has impeccable taste and don't forget those principles of course....see i thought principles was just somewhere people shopped for pastel coloured clothing.

regards.

i love the one song i can hear on myspace. fantastic - thanks for the heads up!

Thanks everso, Pitman! Having technical prob with number three, though. Could you possibly re-send?

Cheers,

Kate

(Oh, she's only 12, thus she's strictly a gin girl, so don't worry about the alcopops )

you've brought her up well.

hope it works, enjoy.

Aaaagh! Same problem again, I'm afraid. It gets partway through downloading, then pings and claims it had completed. Result = about 45 seconds of the song. Hmmm.....

as is "bell" in your case.

but fair enough, different strokes and all that.

Hurrah!

The new one worked! Thanks, Pitman. You're a sweetie
