Thank you Morrissey. I love this sort of messages from Morrissey. He has a lot to share and we need someone who opens our minds.
Lots of great albums.
I love Patti Smith. Redondo Beach is a gem.
I'm from Argentina, and here The Ramones are a huge thing.

None of those records for me. I’m not a sheep and don’t have to like everything Moz says/does. I guess I better drop dead!

I love the majority of this list, but I've tried numerous times to get into The New York Dolls, but to my ears that just sound like a glammed up third rate Rolling Stones with one song.

Yes, spurred on by Nick Cave's words on the subject yesterday no doubt.
That must have done Moz a lot of good.

On a sidenote, if Johnny Marr ever has a chance of the reunion happening, now is the time.
A few public words of support for Moz, and it could happen in a heartbeat.

Johnny's a bit busy at Glastonbury right now. It's just never going to happen.

This is a good list. I'd switch "Music For The Masses" and "Remain In Light" for your picks by those bands but "Low" is the right choice.

I always find lists really interesting when people share them. Creating one myself is sheer torture. I really love most of what Morrissey selected but not sure how many would make my top 10, though I do own most.

Lists are horrible indeed. I think the Stone Roses should have been on my list, just as His ‘n Hers by Pulp, Volume & Density by Duvall, everything by Rufus W. and Justin Timberlake.

What can one do?

Now playing. Such a brilliant album. Sinatra at his very best. Awesome!

I prefer Suede's debut album to Dog Man Star. And I still listen to Leftism by Leftfield, plus I thought Music for the Jilted Generation did something different at the time. I would say Screamadelica would be in my top 10, along with probably 5 Morrissey/Smiths albums, also I do still have The White Room on cassette in my campervan, along with Pills Thrills & Bellyaches. I've got a soft spot for Spear of Destiny, Liberator would certainly be in my top 10 songs, not sure an album would?? It's difficult choosing your ten favourite albums, so I won't even try to.

No black artists? All the artists on that list are influenced by black artists, no debate. And his record collection is much wider than these 10 albums.

Well, he did say that he liked his own race the most, didn't he?
This proves it, more or less (as you mentioned, some of these artists are influenced by black artists)
Now, do this exercise for yourself, and see how yours will look like.
I know that mine would also be all-white.
Consciously or sub-consciously, many of us gravitate towards something within our comfort zone.
Just to put things into perspective ….

Question: does there exist of his favourite books / authors?
I bet James Baldwin would be on it, so he would fare better there.
