Just got back from the Stirling Albert Halls gig and I have to say I think its the best Morrissey gig i've ever had the pleasure of attending.

A pretty crappy start to the day with no trains running from Edinburgh to Stirling - but nevermind - got there eventually.

Got the venue about 4pm and there was a steady stream of people gathering. The merhandise ranging between £18-£30 was being sold outside the venue (Morrissey polo, italian style striped morrissey 'ringleader' tee, album cover transfer etc oh and pants/cufflinks etc!!!! So got myslelf the grey Moz ringleader one with blue and red stripes - very nice.

Bar across from venue had a dj playing Morrissey/Smiths tracks playing from 6pm but left early and got to venue for 6.40. Sons and daughters were great live as always.

But to Morrissey - absolutely amazing, the band sounded so tight and the album does not do the tracks justice - each track played live from Ringleader was superb especially Life Is a Pigsty (very intense), To me you are a work of art and I will see you in far off places. Trouble loves me was stunning and I have to admit to feeling a bit choked mid-song. Reader meet author was rocking too. The three smiths tracks were immense in particular Still Ill which was grand. Nice little exclusive for Scotland with Human Being played live - AMAZING.....

Saw Mikey and the drummer walking up to the castle behind the venue and Gary and Jesse were up in the Circle walking about when sons and daughters were on.

A nice ending with a guy from the circle leaping on to the PA and an inch from Morrissey (what a shame mate - we were all rooting for you)- great little venue with good acoustics.

All in all an absolutely amazing night - they band sounded tight as hell, Morrissey lyrics showcased superbly and the usual banterand a stunning emotional performance. Roll on Dundee!!!!

And so...
Morrissey played in my home town. For the first time ever. And he chose the warmest, sunniest day of the year to do it. Guess that all makes sense.
To think how many crappy local bands I've seen in this venue over the years...and now HE is here!

I was surprised at how easy it was to get into the Hall, and how easy it was to get served at the bar. After the endless queueing of the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, this was a walk in the park.
Support was from Sons & Daughters, and I thought they were excellent. The two female members of the band are two of the most attractive 'rock...er, "chicks"{cringe}' I've ever seen. I couldn't take my eyes off them. The music was fantastic.

Then it was the pre-show tape and then...

There is nothing like the few minutes before HE takes the stage. No matter how many times I've seen him, this is the moment I pay my ticket for. Suddenly...He is in the room. The King...The Christ...The Godhead is in the same room as us. We are breathing the same air as He is...we are within touching distance. And it looks like the tour is doing him some good. Any podge or double chins from the recent promo photos are gone. He looks like a matineé idol again.
'First Of The Gang' kicks in...arms aloft, screaming all around me. Fantastic.
'Still Ill'...OH MY GOD! Punked-up and heavy, this is incredible! Fresh life breathed into one of his most iconoclastic songs. Stunning! I can feel tears. Has he peaked too early?
'You Have Killed Me' gets a great warm response from the crowd. Go on...admit it...it's a great single.
'The Youngest was The Most Loved', oh yes yes YES! It was brilliant to see almost everyone in the place point to the stage and yell "There is no such thing in life as normal". A joy to behold.

First contact witn the audience of the night:
Morrissey: "So, let me guess. You've all driven down from Glasgow?"
Crowd: "BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
Morrissey(shrugging): "I was only asking....I agree with you!

'I Will See You In Far Off Places' is the first slower song of the night but the audience is on such an adrenaline rush from the first four songs that every word and gesture is lapped up.
When I first saw that 'Reader Meet Author' was back in the set, my heart sank. "What is he playing this old crap for?" But, considering that this is where 'I Know It's Gonna Happen' was in the set last time which lost a lot of the crowd's attention, it proves a master stroke.
'To Me You Are Work Of Art' and 'My Life Is A Succession...' follow and are both splendid. '...Succession..' in particular sounds wonderous, but a few audience memebers looked bemused. Most muted response of the night.

Morrissey says something about how they've come down to Stirling to sell copies of ROTT..."All of them second hand".
The stomp of 'Girlfiend In A Coma' kicks is and the crowd go wild again.
Morrissey introduces the band..."Our captain, Boz. His lieutenant, Gary. Our favourite drummer, Matt(or is it Max?...I couldn't make out what he said), this is Jesse, he's Mexican. Do you mind? [Crowd "NOOOO!!!"], Jesse Tobias. And this is the sex symbol of the group, Mikey Farrell".

'Let Me Kiss You' sounds better than ever, and 'At Last I Am Born' sounds phenomenal with all the band striking poses and getting involved.
Then...the highlight. I knew it! I will always remember the 23rd of April 2006 as the day I saw him perform THIS in the flesh. 'Life Is A Pigsty' blows me away on record, and live, it just killed me. Morrissey, vocally at the top of his game, just astounding. Interesting to see Boz play glasses filled with water on the first two verses. Absolutely magnificent.
It was nice to hear the crowd sing the words to 'Loch Lomond' in the intro to 'Trouble Loves Me', but where this song was a highlight on the 1999 tour, here it sounded lacklustre and out of place. The only low point for me.
'On The Streets I Ran' was another highlight, it's surprising how fast the set is this time around.

Did any one find any plectrums...if so a person in Aberdeen was wetting themselves about finding one....please contact them to share your experience....LOL....OMG....so glad I don't know you.

Overall a superb evening. However the guy who tried to Get on at the end sealed it for me! I said to my friend before the concert how easy it would be to get on the stage Via the amp albeit a touch dangerous. To be fair , I think he would landed just short of morrissey and not killed him as some will doubtless suggest. Not one weak song in my opinion. Thank you morrissey.

Does anyone else think that Irish Blood, English Heart is a bad choice as the closing song? I just feel that it,s one of his weaker songs particularly musically. There are so many other songs he could play qhich would close the set more spectacularly such as; the father who must be killed even I like you! Brilliant evening anyway and maybe I,m just being too fussy!
