  • It's a great song, but it's only better than I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero Now on ROTT in my opinion.

I've loved this song for the last two years, and really hope he plays it at Gateshead. And the Ally Pally. And Sheffeild. And the three Manchester gigs. And Halifax. And Blackburn. And Liverpool. And the last night at the Palladium.

He can drop it for the other gigs though.

  • In case anyone is two years behind...

    Don't dig for
    A metaphore
Has it not twigged with you yet
    And don't wonder
    Why I'm stil around
I'm just playing easy to get

    Don't dig for
    A secondary meaning
At worst you might just find the first
    And don't wonder
    Why I'm stander over here
I'm just playing easy to get

    Do I have to
    Drop anchor like a sailor
To switch on the bulb in your head
    Do not frisk me
    Silence is your answer
I'm just plain easy to get

    And so easy
    Maybe you've had me?
If you had then you would not forget
    When you see me
Between (two places in LA with mexican names)
    I'm just plain desperate!

So don't waste time trying to get to know me
    I'm yours! I'm yours!
And don't waste time with snappy converstation
    I'm yours! Everyone knows...

  • The security guys at last night's gig were a bit 'ad-hoc' with where you could and couldn't go. Early on, you were able to take your drink into the main hall but later on they decided you couldn't and just before Mozz came on, people turned up with their drinks again.
Anyway, thats not the least bit interesting, he definately played 'The Father who must be killed' and we had a small rendition of 'Loch Lomond' as well.
All in all a great little venue which felt very intimate.

  • Sounding really good, but for some reason I fear the studio version. I have the feeling it's a really really good live track which will be made far worse by that voice effect he's used on both ROTT and Quarry, and kind of, on Kill Uncle but it really fitted in quite well on the latter.

  • What can I say, last night was amazing/insane/surreal/beautiful.

At the start he came on with that silly knot in his shirt, as he's been doing the past few dates.

He also had a sticker on his chest, looked like a penguin from where I was standing.

    One shirt throw.

Highlights were Life Is A Pigsty and Trouble Loves Me. The latter was breathtakingly beautiful. Human Being was also very good.

He mentioned something about saying to the crowd in Stirling that he was going to Greenock soon, can't recall what he said after that...

Mentioned something about killing the New York Dolls?

And for those who care, he said something to Julia at one point.

After At Last I Am Born this nice woman in the front row (you got yer picture in the Greenock Telegraph, wahey!) said something to do with the line in the song, it sounded like " 1 2 3 life" instead of "one true free life"?? Moz handed her the mic, couldn't make out what was said after that, but after she said it, Moz said "Oh, that's a cop-out".

Hello to the nice English woman with the chocolate who I was talking to in the queue. And to the lovely American guy who looked after me in the pit. Didn't catch your name, sorry, but you had attended 39 Moz gigs and knew all the words. :D

"That was our new single and low and behold here is the B-side."

"And whoever decided these stairs were a good ideas they should be beheaded. Beheaded!" The stage had stairs on it. The band were placed a few steps above Morrissey. Moz did not seem happy about that.

"Thank you we hopped you enjoyed the Sons and Daughters."

"Well you stayed here for a very long time. I'm surprised."

After the "Father that must be Killed" "Was that Dreadful, Julia?"

Well if you don't like it
Go ahead, find yourself a saint
      Go ahead now,
      Try to find a boy
      Who's gonna be what I ain't

A plastic doll with a fresh coat of paint
Who's gonna sit through the madness
      And always acts so quaint
      Said yeah yeah yeah

      With your new friend
      You're really making a scene
And I see you bouncing around
      From machine to machine

      And you know
      They're never real, they're
      Never what they seem
And you can try to generate some warmth
And you see just what I mean
      I said yeah yeah yeah

And If I'm acting like a king
      Well that's cause
      I'm a human being
And if I want too many things
Don't you know that I'm a human being

      I'm a human being
And when it gets a bit obscene (wooah)
      I'm a human being

And I've just got to go around

      Just like a human, babe,
      An unknown human being
And I can hold my head so high

Why won't you give me a little sip
Why don't you try me on a drag of that cigarette
Why don't you try to give me something that
      I will never ever forget

But now don't you blow it all
      On a million dollar bet
Because you're liable to lose it
On the best lovin' you've had yet
I'm beggin yeah yeah oh yeah

      I said yeah yeah yeah,
      Oh C'mon C'mon C'mon

Well I may think that this whole scene is
Just a Too appalling for me
Or I may be the type who's just a mad about

Well I can color that with mystery
Or make it just what I want it to be
While I'm blowing my change on the fan magazines
With all the Hollywood refugees, screaming

  • Morrissey performed for the first and maybe only time in Greenock. The set list was an intersting mix of smiths classics , solo album snippets and of course lots of TROTT tracks. I have to say that the inclusion of the new single's (The Youngest Was The Most Loved) was one the sadly few highlights performed on the night. I believe this tour is sadly (like the album) horriffically inferior to the YATQ tour was. Another disappointment was that there was as ever only 1 encore - with a set-list that only lasted a mere 80 minutes. One redeeming feature - Sons & Daughters were very good - good luck to them. Has it put me off seeing Morrissey again - not a chance !
