crikey. i just got home from being in a tiny intimate venue after the ally pally show and the apollo at the weekend, and this beat them hands down.

morrissey was on form, witty and chatty, not like at ally pally, asking whether anyone famous was from halifax (erm, big daddy and that woman off the currys adverts from changing rooms)

he joked about the venue being named after victoria wood, and namechecked leeds, halifax and the mighty pontefract as places of note in west yorkshire.

set list was almost identical. that song from under the floorboards (apologies if title wrong) was missed out, but pretty much everything else was the same as the last shows i saw, but in a tiny venue, where i was able to walk in 20 minutes before and stroll up to 15 feet away from the stage.

right, i need a milky drink and a darkened room. oh, spoke with someone from behind the scenes before, apparently the tour dates are based on an old kenn dodd tour! like your style moz old china.

a great night - the atmosphere was buzzing, a lot of broad yorkshire accents - but i stood mancunian and proud!!! there were a few rough'uns there - about 10 people were fighting for the big man's shirt for about 10 minutes, and i got drenched in sweat - security weren't as rough as at bridgewater - which is still the highlight for me,

A good gig this one

Nice banter from Moz, I liked it when he disputed the fact that Billy Bremner came from Halifax. Well in Moz! And a good thing when he threw a t-shirt back into the crowd from whence it came!

Julia gets a lift from gig to gig with the crew. God knows what she does on those coaches. But that is how she travels (shudder to think). So now 'we' all know how she gets to the front.

Poor Julia. Everybody is so jealous of her. I wish I were her.

THIS WAS BRILLIANT.

Halifax (and Huddersfield), West Yorkshire, the North... well done for making this such an incredible night.

The venue was rocking - and I think Mozzer and his band really appreciated it.

What a night. Up there with the best.

Well, my head's still a little fuddled, but what I can remember goes like this.

Hugh and I turned up at about 7:20, and met the famous Halifax chap with tattoos all over (he's in Who Put The M in Manchester, who was already having a damn good time and an great spirits. Wanderd over to the venue, grabbed a beer, and settled at the front of the stage, whereupon Deano arrived. Anyhoo, Tiger Army were surprisingly good, and got a good reception - I think the crowd appreciate their effort (so it was a shame at the end of the night to see their frontman leaving the side-door alone, smiling sheepishly at people as he walked down the street). The security tonight were not too heavy handed and on the whole, helpful, especially to the guy who crowd-surfed to the stage, three times! Then on came Moz and the crew. It's all a bit of a blur - but what I can remember is Boz striking some excellent poses, including leaning nonchanlantly on the stacks, Gary really, really appreciating the crowd (at the end he came over with the set list and said "I fucking love you") - maybe that was the Gary Day chanting we were doing. Jesse was bouncing around in top form, Mike and Matt were perfect, and Moz was having a whale of a time. He changed the lyrics of 'My Life Is A'...so that the line was sung as follows "All of the best things in life, all behind glass...Halifax, Leeds, Pontefract". Fab. Wandered out later and met the Ephraim (is that how you spell it?), who most people will have seen - a really nice bloke, and of course Julia, who was lovely, as always. We had a chat about the Brontes, and she knew much more than I did, so I shut up. Thence for a few shandies at the hotel down the road, where we met, amongst others, Mike and spouse, and the splendid Sharron Needles. I must apologise to Mike C and Andy, I really tried, but got swept in in the tide of folk. All in all, a cracking gig.

Last night was awesome and it was my 10th show of the tour. Moz in playful mood, band were great. Wow!

I know quite a few people who are around 17-20 who claim to be Moz fans but dont actually know anything that isnt off either that Suedehead-best of or the recent stuff hes done so for them I suppose this setlist is pretty good. I think its pretty rubbish tho and it was ok to play Munich Air Disaster last tour but 'My life is..' is a terrible b side, not even from his current album. Some people are saying.. oh but he is promoting ROTT but there is no need to be playing the likes of Let Me bloody Kiss You, which I think is pretty rubbish also. Good to see Trouble Loves Me tho.

I'm sorry but that is one sorry set list. 17 songs? Out of 15+ albums in his catalog (including The Smiths) he could only muster 17 songs? Weak. Of the 17 songs played, only Pigsty, Still Ill, How Soon?, First of the Gang, Coma, Irish Blood, Youngest, and Trouble Loves Me would even be considered to make my "Best of" Morrissey/Smiths personal compilation. At some point it has to be said, Morrissey is ripping off his fans. More than half the songs he played were either off of the disappointing "Rott" or were B-sides.

Awesome, truly awesome. Anyone who disagrees is a twat!

I think everyone who was at Halifax on wednesday knows they were at a classic. Similarly everyone who attended Bradford 2002 knows they were at probably the best UK Morrissey solo gig ever. (except perhaps Wolverhampton 88) :)
