The show was excellent again!Good humour about Eurovision song contest and football (M supports Italy, of course). Set list was usual but without "At last I am Born" and "Human being". Band started with "Panic". No encore.

Excellent gig, I say!

Two shirts, a blue one and a red one, were thrown. Before throwing the latter one, he tucked the whole shirt into his pants! What a sight it was... :)

I thought I could provide some additional information.

Morrissey and the band seemed to be in a good mood. As expected, Morrissey soon commented Finland's win in the Eurovision song contest:
– So you won the Eurovision song contest.
[cheers]
– And you are very proud
[more cheers]
– Are you sure?
[laughter]
He repeated the question after the next song and added that we shouldn't rush in to things, because we may regret it later.
– I know I did!

After throwing the first shirt in the audience and walking off the stage, he entered again with a red shirt tied up in a knot.
– As you can see, I'm quite fat in reality.
[laughter]
– But so are you!
[more laughter]

The second shirt went to the audience after being used as a towel, inside his pants! A long fight over the defiled shirt ensued.

The ending of "I will see you..." was one of the heaviest parts of the concert and really got the crowd going. Other highlights with the audience were "You have killed me", "Irish blood, English heart" and "First of the gang to die". All in all a very good concert and in my opinion, as good as the Helsinki concert earlier this year.

What a great gig! Slightly not as good as in Helsinki earlier the year, maybe because the crowd wasn't so intensive, maybe because the festival.. But mozzer was great, seemed to be in good mood and everything. :) I was in the first row, took some pictures. I'll post a link here later when I got 'em sorted out & online.

Regarding to Eurovision song contest he asked the audience during the gig, apparently in a sarcastic tone, are Finns proud of Lordi's victory this year.

So say what you might...I guess the thing is, i bet, somewhere "in the back of his mind".

So afterall maybe Lordi will indeed have the honor of producing his, naturaly destined winning song, for next year. :-)

Yahoo, Turku! Hei hei!

After enduring the Poets Of The Fall experience it was a relief to see the rabid headbanger types make their exit to see the next hard rock/heavy metal/love metal/medium metal/other unpleasant, loud outfit elsewhere and to leave the Morrissey fans alone. Not a particularly large congregation initially, and none of the ‘irregular regulars’ were there. (Where were you all?)

The pre-gig mix was barely audible due to the noise from the nearby Puistolava (Park Stage – 4 stages in all at the Ruisrock festival), but it had definitely been changed again after the UK gigs. ‘Judy Min Vän’ was still there. It was nice to hear ‘Saturday Nite Special’ in the mix, too. Does anyone know whose the ‘Everyday Is Like Sunday’ cover was?

I have some issues with Morrissey playing in broad daylight, particularly as it was stinking hot. Whilst I’d much rather have the perfect blue sky than torrential rain à la Glastonbury ’05 (no, I wasn’t there), there is no denying that Morrissey is best enjoyed in a dark, intimate setting, not at a festival early in the evening on a Finnish summer’s day, which goes ooooonnnnn and ooooonnnnnn…

(For anyone now looking for their mind in the gutter… shame on you).

He appeared to the laughing sounds of ‘What A Pretty’, as usual. Dressed in black trousers and blue shirt (no knot), with the band in red Playboy t-shirts and tuxedo trousers. He greeted us with ‘Yahoo, Turku! Hei hei!’ and assumed some theatrical poses, and then launched into ‘Panic’. I noticed a number of theatrical poses, especially at the beginning of the set, and a lot of fondling of various body parts.

As his set was a couple of hours before the World Cup final, he took the opportunity to tell us this: ‘For those of you who are interested… I should tell you that tonight’s match has been fixed. And… the winner is… Italy. I know these things.’ Someone in the audience must have voiced his dissent, as Morrissey then said, ‘Oh, you can boo…’ and pointed a finger at him, repeating ‘Italy!’ Now imagine this with a mock-Italian accent, ‘Itt-alii’. Fixed or not, he was right about the result.

The band were introduced, before ‘Faruff’, as ‘this sexy band’. After introducing Mikey he commented, ‘That cheer was too loud. Doesn’t help… Doesn’t help… But, thank you anyway.’ He then asked the crowd if anyone had anything to say (no-one did) before asking Julia if she was surviving, which she was. To that, he said ‘Well, some days are better than others’, somewhat cryptically.

The blue shirt got thrown into the crowd. Didn’t see how violent that fight was, if at all, but the one for the red shirt appeared to be quite frenzied. When he returned after the first shirt change he said, ‘You see, in real life I’m really quite fat – but so are you!’ The red shirt landed in front of the barrier initially, but Morrissey indicated to the security guy to throw it into the crowd. This shirt had moments before been used to rub down his torso before being tucked down the front of his trousers and rubbed around. I noticed the security people keeping an eye on the ensuing proceedings for quite some time and saw people still filming the battle for the shirt a couple of songs later. One girl had landed a tiny piece of the red shirt and ecstatically leaped over with her trophy to where her friend was, and I caught a waft of it as she did so. I could definitely smell the same cologne as on the shirt I caught at Cheltenham.

Security, by the way, were very decent. They happily collected people’s bags and placed them behind the barrier. There seemed to be no attempted crowd surfing or other security ‘issues’ and only one unfortunate bloke got collected from the crowd and carried away. He seemed to have passed out. Whether it was drink-induced or due to the heat no-one knows, but Morrissey watched as he was being carried away in front of him, grimaced and looked left towards either Mikey or his ‘people’ at the side of the stage and made a gesture with his hands to show the corners of the mouth turned
