Just got back from the show. Wow, what a show! It was awesome.

But by far the biggest news is that Johnny Marr was at the show. At one point Mozzer said something like "You know, all these people yelling Johnny Marr at me. And I look up, and there's Johnny Marr. Incredible."

I can't recall his exact words, but that is roughly what he said. I talked to a number of people after the show who verified that Johnny Marr was indeed at the show (as was Peter Buck of REM).

I didn't write down the setlist, but I thought I'd share this: Mozzer cut off "Boy With The Thorn In His Side" halfway through because Moz was upset that he couldn't hear his vocals at all. He was visibily annoyed and cut it off halfway and while the sound guys were fiddling with the soundboard, he says something like "Julia, do you have anything inspiring to say?"
He holds up the mic for Julia who says "I think we just need to hear more of your wonderful voice." and Moz responds "Well, do you have a CD?" Pretty funny.

My friends had no idea what the hell just happened. I had to explain to them who Julia was...

Once again the setlist will not include any songs from Vauxhall & I. Why is it that he seldom plays any songs from this masterpiece? He would probably sell more tickets if he did.

Are we going to have to go through this ridiculous charade on every date of this blasted tour??? So Moz and Marr happen to be in the same country at the same time, and may even be in the city but a reunion is NEVER going to happen. Get over it you ridiculous cretins!!!

Marr is not some savour who will miraculously propel Morrissey to the upper echelons of genius once more, look at his post smiths output - laughable at best. Marr suddenly wont become inspired again if he teams up with Moz. That partnership is over, now can we please stop denying Morrissey his solo career some 18 years later??!!!

Am I the only one who thought the security goons a bit over the top? When fans rushed the stage at the end it was chaotic on the right side of the stage - one woman fell down the stairs onto her back. It looked serious. When people jumped onto the stage throughout the show security would grab them in head locks and drag them like dolls. Also no points for the "fan" who earlier grabbed Morrissey's arm and just wouldn't let go. (I think he may have been trying to grab his ring - either way it looked like it hurt.

As for this silliness, no Johnny Marr was definitely NOT in the front row section of the Paramount Theater. It was Roger Waters trying to get the band back together again.

the setlist was basically the same as the spokane show, but he played "please please please..." as the first encore number. i was sad that he didn't finish "boy with the thorn.." M seemed pretty annoyed with the sound guys.
i agree with a previous poster, the security guards were taking their jobs a bit too seriously last night. they seemed to enjoy dragging folks off the stage and then vanquishing them to the back of the theater.
M bantered a bit with the audience (good crowd too, by the way)...told us a story about how when he moved out to "Moz Angeles" ("los angeles" drew boos), he got his furniture from seattle... which, he said, lasted for all of seven days.
before talking to julia he was saying something like asking for requests from the audience and when he gave the mic to an audience member, he said, "i just want your shirt." M laughed and replied "i can't do that... next thing it'll be my shoes and socks, then my trousers, then my sport cup...which i always wear now."
the band played tight. M changed his shirt twice (and after the sweat he worked up, he needed to).
i'm now an even bigger fan of "pigsty"--amazing live version. lighting was great. the drummer (too lazy to go check his name, sorry) wailed on the gong and the bigassed bass drum. at the end, M laid down on stage and propped his feet up on the riser for the drums and remained in such a state for a minute or two before launching into "how soon is now?".
my first time seeing Moz. Definitely a great performance. now off to my final exams...

Johnny Marr was not at the show, on Sun May 6 he was in Birmingham, AL BJCC Arena Concert Hall with modest mouse

there is a reason why security is over-zealous at each show.

last year, when i was standing near the barricade during SXSW, some guy from Morrissey's crew warned the venue security that the fans could be very fanatical, could get out of control, and will jump the barricade when possible. What's more, he repeated it and sounded dead serious the entire time. he basically made it sound like there was going to be a reenactment of that scene from Gremlins where they were watching Snow White and the projector malfunctioned.

i'm sure that many of these people in the venue crew don't know what to make of that kind of warning and think that you need to beat people senseless or risk having the Watts riots.

Oh, I never write down the setlist as I figure someone else will! What a great show - Pigsty into HSIN? is soooo amazing. I'll be reliving this show all day.

I wish someone had told the secuirty goons to get their fat asses back to the ghetto. It would have made the show more enjoyable. But from row L...it's clear that Morrissey loves Seattle.

He was talkative and upbeat all night long. At one point he asked the audience "what's wrong? tell me and I promise to try and make it better.." then handed the microphone to some guy in the front row who asked for his shirt. Morrissey said something like "first you want the shirt, then the trousers, and so on..." ....which would have been an awesome lead in to Striptease with a difference but that's wishful thinking.

What really struck me was how ....forward... he was towards the end of the show. He just kept shaking hands and bowing, as if he truly felt honored by the crowd... I almost expected a second encore.

The only other quote of the night I remember was a fairly lengthy (in moz terms) story about buying furniture in Seattle.

"..when I moved to Moz Angeles, I actually bought all of my furniture here in seattle. As i'm sure you know it lasted for nearly seven days."

and also something alike "It doesn't need to be said, but I am grateful to be here. Doesn't need to be said, but there i've said it"

Did anyone meet Mark the Morrissey look alike? I met him on my way out of the War Room and got a picture. It's chilling how much he looks like him.

Just curious how many people made the trip up from Portland. I barely got a ride. I went and stood on my own, but certainly worth it. I'm not much of a fan of the last two CDs but a few of the songs did sound good live. My favorite moment was the encore, "Please please please let me HAVE WHO I want."

It has got to be said that his band is always always great and truly professional. Whether it is Gary Day or Alain Whyte (Who we miss) but his band is always f***** tight! I think that Morrissey sounds better live than on record. He is a GREAT live act.

First off, fantastic show. Moz was awesome...but visibly annoyed at times. I made the drive up from Portland and it was certainly worth it.

I was in the second row and jumped to the barrier when the lights dimmed, where I stood the entire show...two folks behind Julia. There was no Marr of course...Moz's comment was obviously a joke.

A few songs into the set Moz was having obvious problems hearing himself in the montiors. He walked over to the board a few times and complained about the bad mix. When it seemed to get worse during 'A Boy..." he stopped the song dead. Although he joked about it, it took more than a few songs for Mozzer to return to form. By the end of the set he seemed to be back in stride, but it was obvious the bad sound threw him off a bit.

The guy who got the mic and asked for Moz's shirt was most likely the reason the crowd only got one tossed out. You get the mic handed to you from Morrissey and that's all you can come up with? Asking for a freebie? How about a thank you? Say what you want about Julia, she always handles the situation with grace and gratitude.

As far as security...I don't know what show some people where watching. They were VERY mellow and almost helpful. I watched a few people try to barge into the front section and all they got was a tap on the shoulder and the wave of a finger. As far as people getting on stage, Morrissey looked quite frightened when people made contact. Maybe his 'tackle' at the California show has put him on edge. Security was OBVIOUSLY told this and those who made contact were quickly and easily led away. The exception was the mentioned 'chokehold' during the last song on the right. I was standing right there and the guy was detained (whole Morrissey still shaking hands with other fans...myself included) and then he made a second lunge for Moz and was held back. The guy then shrugged his shoulders and walked back down on his own accord. If you ask me security should be praised.

Overall a great show with a few sound problmes. I felt lucky and honored to receive a long handshake and a 'Thank You' from the man himself.

    First time to be in this site. I just want to hear some cool comments about Morrissey Show. I am going to see him in June down here in Hollywood at the Hollywood Bowl. On June 8th. I am looking forward to it. But I am surprise and shock to see the price for tixs for the Hollywood Bowl show. It is crazy. I saw Morrissey back in 2004 for a Make up show down here. He was suppose to do a gig at The KROQ's 2004 Inland Invasion. But he had a 105 fever. Which was a real bummer to the least. But on Halloween of 2004 he did made a date and rock the place. There were about twenty of us who waited until midnight to watch him escorted to his bus! He waved ... even signed a few autographs! He was open, friendly and classy! That was the highlight of my night because he was only about eight feet away and there were very few of us left at that time of the night ... very cool experience! It only lasted one minute but very cool!!!! Then, he drove off!

Let me say first - I am from Seattle. I have seen a lot of shows at the Paramount and security was over the top last night! I was 5th row / aisle and had a security guard screaming and spitting in my face to step back to my seat 2ft away or he was going to "carry me out of here". WOW!

My good friend DID get the gladiolas to Moz ..2nd night in a row. Nice job Sirantos.

Traveling to Sparks and Spokane to see shows with 500 - 700 people is a whole different energy. We landed front and center for both.

The crowd made nice with the bouncers and they gave us some room in Sparks and Spokane. Unlike Seattle, where the previous mentioned "choke-hold" at the end of the show was my husband..who was holding Moz's hand as he tapped the bouncers shoulders motioning "stop".

Throughout the years he has been PULLED ONSTAGE BY Morrissey many times (opening for David Bowie) so I am not sure where things changed along the way.

GOOD NEWS.. the band loved Seattle!

AND...Marr was at the Paramount.. 3 weeks ago with Modest Mouse. He rocked the house.
 

Fantastic show, as mentioned before Life is a Pigsty was chilling.

One comment though. To preface, I'm originally from Southern California and relocated to Portland last year. I took a Greyhound to Seattle and back for the show. I've seen him three times, all in Southern California and I'm used to rabid crowds, not being able to hear myself sing and a wave of hands. This show though, my God was it different. The crowd seemed so sedate in comparison. I was the only one near me singing along and putting my hands in the air. There were people leaving and sitting down and I felt sort of silly for being so excited and active. Is this the norm for shows outside of Southern California? Haha, I mean I know that us Mexican fans are known for that sort of intense adoration, but to clarify, are the shows down there that different? The energy was almost non-existent in comparison.

But it was amazing and thoroughly enjoyable otherwise.

got a hold of the set list from the sound booth in the back.Some reporter tried to snake it from me. he asked what the name of the last song was. I told him You're gonna need someone on your side...i showed him the set list and he copied it the way it was written on the set list(set list said you're gonna knee someone). What's more funny is he put it in the paper that way. alot of the songs on the list were listed different. For example...lucky lips instead of lucky lisp, and boy with porn instead of boy with the thorn in his side. lots of others to list. two more funny ones were lemme kiss and HSIN ?... written exactly like that on the set list. According to the set list he was supposed to play There is a light that never goes out after in the future when alls well and before Irish Heart, English Blood. I would love to post the set list, but I have not figured out how to post photos. I saw Morrissey in 1993 for the Your Arsenal tour, and thought he was more entertaining then. It was 14 years ago so we've all lost a step, but the show was great.

What are they selling at the venues? If anything.

It appeared to me that he skipped a song after IBEH, was he going back to A Boy with a Thorn or what? The only songs that were absent could have been Panic or There is a light?....did anyone get a setlist?

Noticed that members of Islands were at the show and were able to meet Moz. Maybe they were in the queue after the show.
